In the third year of their marriage, Stephen Cruz's beloved Vienna Kelly publicly announced her divorce.
He handed Adaline Gonzales the divorce papers. "You know I've always thought of Vienna as a sister. Now that she's pregnant, I can't just walk away."
Adaline's hand clenched her stomach. In her past life, when she heard these words, she refused to divorce. Then the car accident happened, and Stephen didn't even glance at her as he rushed to the pregnant Vienna. Adaline was forced to terminate her five-month pregnancy. Stephen's words had been harsh and dismissive: "It's your own twisted mind that can't accept Vienna, that's why fate is punishing you."
In the end, Adaline took her daughter's ashes and walked into the sea.
When she opened her eyes again, she calmly signed the divorce papers.

"Adaline, just three years, and then we can remarry, okay?"
Adaline sat in the living room, suddenly brought back to reality as her hand instinctively tightened around her bag.
On the opposite couch, Stephen was comforting a tearful Vienna Kelly, speaking softly to her.
Two months prior, Vienna had announced her divorce on Twitter, causing quite the buzz. Her fans congratulated her on her newfound freedom. Her ex-husband was caught entering a hotel with another woman, prompting Vienna to decisively file for divorce. He quickly became engaged to that woman, and the entire internet sympathized with Vienna, cheering her for leaving a toxic relationship.
And now, two months later, Stephen stood before Adaline, holding Vienna's hand. "Adaline, Vienna is pregnant. You know I've always seen her as a sister. She's in this situation now, and her child shouldn't grow up without a father."
Adaline watched his lips move, hearing the same words as in her past life. "I've discussed it with Vienna. I'll divorce you and give her and the baby a home. Once the child is older and everything settles, we can remarry."
When Adaline stayed silent, he moved closer, sitting beside her, trying to persuade her. "Adaline, I know it's unfair to you, but you wouldn't want Vienna's child to grow up fatherless, would you?"
Hearing this, Vienna’s face grew even paler as tears streamed down, staining her white Victorian-style dress. "Adaline, please, help my child. I grew up without a father and was mocked for it. I don't want my child to suffer the same."
She stood, trembling, nearly collapsing before she knelt before Adaline. "Sister," she grabbed Adaline's hand, "you don't have children. I promise my child will honor you in the future. Please, let me and Stephen be together."
"What are you doing?" Stephen’s eyes narrowed as he quickly helped Vienna up. "You're a celebrity; you shouldn't kneel to her. Besides, she will understand."
Stephen turned to Adaline, smiling, "Right, Adaline?" But beneath the smile, there was a hint of dissatisfaction and warning.
Adaline’s fingers dug into her bag, her knuckles turning white, feeling an overwhelming pressure in her chest. As she remained silent, Stephen’s brow furrowed, and impatience seeped into his voice. "Adaline, your father is still in the hospital. Think about it carefully. Do it for him, just three years, and then we’ll be husband and wife again."
His tone carried a threat, "Don't make a decision you'll regret. It might harm you as well as others."
Adaline let out a bitter laugh, her fingers suddenly releasing, and she felt she could breathe again. He had said the same thing in her past life, and she had fought desperately, refusing the divorce. But later, when she was heavily pregnant, the car accident happened, and Stephen didn't hesitate, carrying Vienna away while their child was lost. He claimed her intolerance of Vienna led fate to punish her.
Her father, after years of heading a successful business, was driven to his grave by Stephen's actions.
"Fine!"
She met his gaze, her expression calm. "I agree to the divorce."

Soon after, he held their daughter's ashes and walked into the sea. By the time the police found him, his body had been ravaged by sea creatures, unrecognizable.
Upon hearing her words, Stephen briefly looked surprised but quickly nodded, while Vienna's face broke into a bright smile. She deftly produced a divorce agreement from her bag. It was something they'd been planning together for ages, and today was not for negotiation—it was for finalizing the deal.
Adaline chuckled, thinking about how she'd known Stephen for four years and been married for three. During those four years, she had pursued him relentlessly. The three years of marriage, he had treated her with cold indifference. Now, with her father critically ill and Harrison Corp in disarray, Stephen saw the perfect opportunity to cut ties and marry his "true love."
Maybe Stephen had never truly seen her as part of his family. But Adaline no longer cared. She took the agreement and signed it without hesitation. As part of dividing the assets, Stephen passed over some of his shares in his family's company. Vienna added, "Let's head to the courthouse this afternoon! No need to waste more time. And sis, you're being so generous!"
Adaline acknowledged Vienna's barely hidden glee, despite the tears still streaking her cheeks. They couldn't wait to sever ties with her, but little did they know, she was even more eager to finalize the divorce. Stephen seemed briefly surprised by her decisive attitude but didn’t comment.
Outside the courthouse, Adaline watched them walk away, arm in arm. Vienna brushed past her and whispered, "Just as easy as it was three years ago! Back then, you picked up what I left behind. Now, with a simple beckon, Stephen comes running back like a trained dog."
Adaline mused to herself that she had been naive. In her first life, her insistence on Stephen led to her downfall. Now, with a second chance, she was determined to let him go for good.
Soon after, she sat in the car, turning to Osman, the driver. "Osman, please take me back to the estate. I need to see my father."
"Certainly, Miss Adaline," Osman replied.
In her previous life, on this same day, she had angrily torn up the divorce papers Stephen handed her and frantically demanded why Vienna and her children had any claim on her husband.
She had resorted to revealing a pregnancy announcement from her bag, kneeling and tearfully begging him. "What about our child? How can you allow him to grow up fatherless?"
Stephen's face had shown a flicker of emotions—joy, confusion, hesitation. Vienna had snatched the pregnancy announcement from Adaline, saying softly, "Sister, surely you wouldn't have faked this knowing I was pregnant too? You know Stephen detests deceitful women."
Then abruptly, her demeanor shifted. She touched her own belly, tears forming in her eyes, "Even if yours is real, he would be the cherished grandson of the Harrisons. Unlike my child, who’d be left in the dust."
As she spoke, tears rolled down her cheeks, and Stephen, clearly troubled, pulled her close, casting a disappointed look at Adaline.
"Adaline, you've crossed a line. I never thought you could be so heartless, unable to accept Vienna's child." His eyes remained cold as he looked at her. "What's your goal here? Three years later, we'll remarry. Both yours and Vienna's children are mine. Vienna has had a tough life—can't you just put up with it for three years?"
