After My Disappointment, He Regretted it! Chapter 1

I was soaked to the bone, sitting on the stone steps in Riverdale, shivering.

Not long before, my boyfriend ditched me after I fell into the water.

I couldn’t swim at all and nearly drowned. Struggled for ages before a boatman pulled me out.

By then, my boyfriend was long gone.

Later, he said he had to rush back for some big project at work.

I was furious and asked him, "Why couldn’t you save me first? I nearly drowned, did you even care?"

He shrugged, "Don't be so dramatic, aren’t you still alive?"

That night at the hotel, I saw a post from Lily Johnson.

“Companionship is the best cure”

The picture showed Frank Davis’s sleeping face.

He lied again. No project, no overtime, just rushing back to his ex.

After the stabbing pain, I didn’t lose it like I usually do. No hysterics, no frantic calls to prove something.

My heart felt dead, all the emotions drowned out.

I liked the post on Instagram, feeling nothing.

Next morning, loud knocks on the door woke me up.

It was Frank Davis and Lily Johnson.

Frank burst out, "Vivian Smith, what the hell? Why didn’t you pick up my calls?"

Lily, hiding behind Frank, looked guilty, "Sorry, Vivian. I was really upset yesterday. Didn’t think Frank would rush back for me. I heard you fell into the water. Are you okay?"

Frank grumbled, "I told you not to come over. Look, she’s fine. What could’ve happened?"

Lily gave Frank a look, "Frank, how could you say that about your girlfriend? No wonder she’s mad and ignoring your calls!"

I let them finish their act and calmly said, "My phone was on silent, I just overslept..."

Frank still looked doubtful, "You’re not mad?"

"No."

Lily sighed in relief, "Good thing Vivian didn’t throw a fit, or I’d feel terrible."

Then Frank said it was Lily’s first time in Riverdale and asked if I wanted to join them to explored around.

I shook my head, "I explored yesterday, you guys go ahead."

Frank eagerly took his ex out to play.

I stayed in the hotel watching TV when my phone buzzed. It was a message from Lily.

"The roads here are awful for high heels. Frank bought me some comfy cloth shoes. They’re so cute!"

Then a picture popped up of Frank changing her shoes.

"Do you want a pair? I can ask him to get you some."

I replied, “No.”

I checked Lily’s Instagram and saw a pic of her with an artsy ice cream.

"It's so cute, I can't bear to eat it. Thanks, Frank!"

I remembered wanting to buy a local ice cream for a post when I traveled with Frank before.

But he said, "That stuff’s a scam. You’re just showing off. A scenic photo is the same."

I smirked, grabbed my packed bags, and took a bus home.

In the middle of the night, Frank woke me up.

I opened my eyes groggily. Frank looked annoyed, "Why’d you come back alone? Didn’t even tell me."

"I didn’t want to ruin your fun."

Frank squinted, "Still mad about me lying about overtime?"

Before I could answer, Frank ranted, "I lied because I knew you’d freak out. Lily’s heartbroken! I just went to comfort her. I’m exhausted from traveling. Can’t you cut me some slack? Why do you always have to be so difficult?"

I wanted to say, you’re not tired because of me.

But I just sighed, "I'm really sleepy, let's talk tomorrow."
