Chapter 4

The moment the door closed, Yale pushed me against the wall, pinning my hands above my head.

He began by gently kissing my brows, nose, and finally my lips.

In the dim lighting, I couldn't make out his expression.

An intimate atmosphere permeated the air.

Just as his hand was about to slip under my skirt, I stopped him.

"Yale, are you sure about this? I'm not responsible for the consequences."

"Stella, how do you know you won't want to try it a second time after the first?" he murmured.

Perhaps it was the alcohol, but I took the initiative to kiss him. There's nothing wrong with letting loose once in a while.

He scooped me up with one arm and set me on the kitchen counter, his voice low and hoarse.

"Stella, make me some noodles, will you? I'm hungry."

My hand holding the noodles trembled.

"Yale... it's all yours..."

Outside, a light rain pattered down. Inside, an intimate, tender atmosphere lingered.

Yale held me tightly around the waist, as if afraid I would run away.

I took out a lady's cigarette and played with the lighter, but didn't light it for a long time.

Glancing down at the peacefully sleeping Yale, I sighed.

I don't know what the right thing to do is, but at least I won't regret it before it happens.

Zane used to be like a dazzling sun to me, but chasing after him was just too exhausting.

Chapter 5

When I woke up, the sky was tinged with a pale white glow. I rubbed my sleepy eyes and reached over, but the bed was cold and empty.

Just as I was lost in thought, I heard Yale's voice coming from the kitchen.

"Stella, go ahead and get ready, breakfast will be ready soon."

By the time I finished freshening up, the table was already set with a delicious-looking breakfast spread.

I ate in silence, when suddenly my phone buzzed with a new message.

My heart skipped a beat.

I opened it to find a message from Zane: [I had my assistant drop off your things.]

I wasn't sure what to make of his message.

What could be so important that he sent someone all this way to deliver it to a nanny's daughter?

I glanced up at Yale, who was eating his breakfast with an elegant, refined air.

Sensing my gaze, he tentatively spoke up. "Stella, are you perhaps looking at me with new eyes? Would you consider making me a permanent fixture in your life?"

After a moment's thought, I replied with a coy smile. "Sure, we'll give it a one-month trial period. If I'm not satisfied, I'll return you."

Clang! Yale's utensils slipped from his hands and clattered onto the table.

"R-really? You mean it?"

"Mm-hmm."

He then asked hesitantly, "In that case...Stella, can I take a picture with you to post on my social media?"

I didn't say anything, just held out my hand.

After the photo, I remembered to add, "Send me a copy of that picture."

He was overjoyed, his smile as bright as a thousand suns, his whole being practically radiating pink hearts.
