Abandonment Blues: Healing from Betrayal Chapter 1

After living together with Edgar Chapman for two months, I got pregnant. When I was holding the pregnancy test result and wanting to contact him, he was gently accompanying his first love for a prenatal examination.

When he saw me outside the gynecology clinic, a trace of panic flashed across his face. His first love reached out to him and said, "Edgar, my belly hurts."

He nervously grabbed her hand and said to me, "Carly, wait for me for a while. I will settle Lindsey down and then come to find you."

I tightly held the pregnancy test, feeling heartbroken.

He said he had something important to do today. It turned out to accompany his first love for a prenatal examination.

I returned home in a daze. When I saw the photo of him and I hugging each other and smiling, I felt disgusted.

We were in a relationship in our junior year. He pursued me for half a year and under the encouragement of our friends, I accepted his confession.

Everyone said that I would be happy with him.

He hugged me in the crowd and said, "Carly, we will get married after graduation. I will make you happy."

I was moved by him and nodded with red eyes.

My friends cheered and wished us well.

After graduating from college, he wanted to start a business, so I joined him, and our marriage was put on hold for the time being.

He went to meet my parents. Because he behaved well, treated others warmly, and helped with housework diligently, my parents liked him and had been looking forward to our marriage.

My parents even agreed for me to live with him and accompany him in starting a business.

During this period, he would give part of his earnings to his parents and part to my parents every month, and then transfer all the remaining money to me, and he asked me to save it.

He said that when we save up 160,000 dollars, we would pay a down payment on a house and then hold a grand wedding to announce that I was the woman he loved most in his life.

As life got better and better, and our savings reached around 80,000 dollars, our parents urged us to get married and have children, so we didn't deliberately use contraception.

But I didn't expect... just when I got pregnant, I encountered such a disgusting thing.

I felt uncomfortable and leaned over the toilet, retching. I felt so sick.

Edgar rushed back from the hospital and patted my back anxiously in the bathroom, asking, "What's wrong, Carly?

Don't misunderstand me. Lindsey got divorced and is now over four months pregnant. It's not convenient for her to do things alone, so I went with her for the prenatal check-up.

She is independent and won't come to me if she has any problems.

Carly, you won't be so mean, and you won't be jealous of a divorced pregnant woman, right?"

I raised my head, tears welling up in my eyes, and said, "Am I being mean?"

"I didn't mean it... Lindsey... forget it. If you don't like her, I swear I'll never see her again. Otherwise, I will get hit by a car when I go out." He raised his finger and made a promise.

His firm gaze calmed me down a bit.

After all, he was the man I had loved for three years...

"Go out, I don't want to see you for now." I turned my head away and didn't look at him.

He heard that I sounded better and quickly responded, "Okay. I'll go buy you some medicine. Do you have a stomachache? Just wait for me."

I didn't take the medicine he bought.

The next day when I arrived at the company, I found two roses in full bloom on my workstation.

The colleague next to me told me that it was especially given by Edgar, and they were excited and envious.

I just smiled and didn't say anything.

When it was time to start work, the HR brought in a familiar person.

It was Lindsey.

The HR said, "Let me introduce to everyone, this is our new colleague, who will mainly be responsible for the coffee service in Mr. Chapman's office. Her name is Lindsey Wright."

I froze, and Lindsey politely introduced herself to the people around her. She came to me and extended her hand, "Hello, nice to be colleagues with you."

There was provocation in her eyes as if she was declaring war against me.

I replied coldly, "We are not colleagues. You are responsible for the coffee service, and I am responsible for projects."

She froze there, looking weakly toward the door, tears in her eyes, looking pitiful.

I also saw Edgar, he frowned slightly at me, "Carly, come to my office."

I got up and followed him into the office.

As soon as we entered, he had a cold face, "Carly, I explained to you yesterday and even swore. Why did you still embarrass her in public? I thought you would have sympathy."

I clenched my hand, feeling suffocated in my chest.

I pinched my hand with my fingers, "So what? You swore but then hired her as your office's coffee service person?"

He frowned, "I was afraid you would be tired, so I specifically asked the personnel department to hire a cleaner. Who knew that we would coincidentally hire Lindsey."

"Well. What a coincidence!" I looked at him coldly.
