The Woman He Tried to Erase Chapter 1

Bianca Aguilar’s voice sliced the air like a knife. My 13‑year‑old stepdaughter—spoiled, dangerous, merciless—lunged at me, shoving her hands into the fabric of my dress.

Riiiip.

I staggered, grasping at the remnants of the gown in shock. “Bianca—”

But she tore again, pushing me so hard I nearly collapsed.

“This was my mother’s dress, you disgusting whore!” she screamed, face contorted with rage. “You don’t get to wear this! You don’t get to touch anything that belonged to her!”

My breath caught. Rafael’s late wife—you could never replace her—in our marriage, I was invisible.

“Bianca, please—” my voice broke, but she was relentless.

Another tear. Another push.

She laughed, cold and cutting. “Do you think wearing this makes you special? Do you think he even sees you? You’re pathetic.”

Pain coiled in my chest. Six years I’d tried for a word, a smile, a moment where I mattered. Now, with the dress Rafael gave—hoping it might mean something—I saw the truth. It meant nothing. I meant nothing.

Bianca bent, plucked a frayed piece, and flung it at my face. “Go find something else to wear, bitch.”

Then she stormed out, slamming the door so hard the walls quivered. I cradled the torn fabric, fingers shaking.

I whispered, “I’m his wife.”

No one heard. No one ever did.

---

The phone buzzed. Rafael.

For a moment, I considered ignoring it. But I answered.

“Where the hell are you?” His voice was sharp, impatient. “The guests are waiting. Come down.”

My stomach twisted. Our sixth anniversary. And yet I felt like his prisoner.

“I’ll be down soon,” I kept calm.

I ended the call.

I stormed into the closet. Dresses there weren’t mine—chosen by Morgana to keep me presentable, but never seen. I seized a simple white gown: floor-length, sleek, unremarkable.

---

I stepped down the grand staircase. Morgana and Bianca waited at the ballroom entrance, glasses of champagne and faces twisted in malice.

They spoke without words—mocking me with their eyes.

I held my head high. Each step was deliberate, the dress whispering across marble like a woman demanding to be seen.

The ballroom buzzed with influential faces—all aware of my place: the invisible wife.

I kept walking until I saw him—Rafael, at the mini‑bar, back to the party, whiskey in hand. He sipped, seeming bored—as if I wasn’t even there.

My chest tightened, but I stayed composed. I had my identity. I was Dr. Amelia Stoneheart. A leading heart surgeon. I’d held lives in my hands—through blood and crisis—always unshakable.

And yet for six years, he’d tried to break me.

He didn’t notice me. His gaze grazed me with bored amusement.

Then the announcement came: “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Rafael and Bianca for the first dance.”

Heat pooled in my stomach.

He offered his hand. Not to me.

To her—Bianca, his blonde mistress. The room held its breath as she floated forward in her dazzling red lips and clinging dress.

My legs weakened as they moved together—his statement clear. I was nothing.

Around me, polite murmurs swirled:

“Poor Amelia, always in the back.”

“She looks like a maid.”

“Bianca fits him—Amelia’s just… there.”

Then a glass of red wine crashed against my chest. Heat raced over my white gown. I froze, stunned. Wine dripped from my fingers.

It was Bianca. Her glass emptying. She gazed at me as laughter rattled the room.

“You look better in red, bitch,” she cooed. “Like blood.”

And she turned away, satisfied. Rafael never broke stride.

I don’t remember fleeing the ballroom—only that I ended up in my bedroom, trembling and breathless.

This was my breaking point, a whisper inside me said.

---

I stripped off the ruined dress. In the mirror, it wasn’t the wine or tears that had changed me—it was emptiness.

A knock.

The door opened without waiting. I braced for Morgana or Bianca, but it was Bianca.

She strode in, holding something delicate. My necklace—the one Rafael gave me on our wedding night.

I stared. “That’s mine.”

She offered a tilt of her head. “Was it?”

My stomach dropped. “Where’d you get it?”

Her smile widened. “He gave it to me.”

Silence stretched. Then she leaned in close, her breath brush against my cheek.

“You were never his choice,” she whispered. “You were his obligation. But me? I’m his favorite. His obsession.”

Her words cut deeper than humiliation.

Before she left she added with a smirk:

“Oh, and Amelia? Explore the mansion. You’d be surprised how many rooms you’ve never even seen.”

The door shut.

Silence.

My breaths jagged, my heart pounding.

A wing of this house I’d never stepped into.

A mistress living under my roof.

My vision blurred—not from grief, but fury.

Six years of trying to be his wife. Of trying to carve a place in his world, in his heart.

This was the end.
