The Unwanted Heiress And Her Dangerous Alpha Chapter 1

The heavy steel doors of the federal prison ground open with a mechanical shriek, like the beast had finally spat out the one prisoner it should never have swallowed.

Isabel Jensen stepped out. The harsh afternoon sunlight hit her face, making her narrow her eyes. The air smelled of hot asphalt and exhaust, but it was the first breath of unfiltered oxygen she had taken in two years.

Officer Reynolds stood beside the metal detector, holding a thin manila folder. He extended his arm, handing it over. Inside were her release papers and the pathetic few items she had surrendered upon entry.

"Stay out of trouble, Jensen," Reynolds said. He gave her a polite nod, his eyes lingering on her face. He had seen hundreds of inmates walk out these doors, but none possessed the terrifying, absolute calmness radiating from this girl.

Isabel took the folder. Her fingertips traced the rough, cheap paper. The coarse texture grounded her. Isabel Jensen. It was the name she had been forced to register under when she took the fall, the only identity she had left now that the Coopers had stripped her of theirs. It was the physical proof she needed. The transmigration was real. She was no longer the weak, easily manipulated original host. She was the entity known on the dark web as The Surgeon.

She took a deep breath. Her spine snapped straight, shifting from the defeated slump the original host carried into a rigid, commanding stance. Her shoulders pulled back. Her chin lifted.

Isabel walked down the concrete steps. Her cheap, prison-issued shoes clicked sharply against the pavement. Each step was measured, precise, and entirely devoid of hesitation.

A silver Mercedes blocked the loading zone, parked diagonally across the yellow lines with blatant disregard for the rules.

Kadin Cooper leaned against the hood. He wore a tailored navy suit. His jaw was tight, and his eyes swept over Isabel's cheap gray clothes with absolute, unfiltered disgust. That look—the curled lip, the cold superiority—it was exactly the same expression he had worn in the courtroom three years ago, when he had looked her in the eye and told the judge she deserved the maximum sentence.

He pushed off the hot metal of the car. He crossed his arms over his chest, his knuckles turning white.

"Hurry up and get in the car," Kadin snapped. "I have better things to do today than pick up a convict."

Isabel stopped exactly three feet away from him. She did not flinch. She did not lower her head. Her eyes, cold and dead, locked onto his face. The desperate, pleading affection the original host used to show this man was completely gone.

Kadin felt a sudden, sharp prickle of unease at the base of his neck. He swallowed hard, adjusting his silk tie to shake off the feeling. His arrogance quickly swallowed the brief hesitation.

"Don't look at me like that," Kadin sneered, his upper lip curling. "The Cooper family is only taking you back because Mom and Dad don't want the press finding out you're sleeping on a park bench. It's a PR nightmare."

He took a step closer, towering over her.

"You are nothing without the Cooper name," he spat. "You're just Isabel Jensen now. Out here, you're less than the junkies shooting up in the slums."

Isabel let out a low, mocking chuckle. The sound vibrated in her chest. It was sharp, abrasive, and entirely foreign to Kadin.

"I would rather rot in a gutter," Isabel stated, her voice flat and devoid of any warmth, "than step foot inside that hypocritical mansion ever again."

Kadin's face flushed a dark, mottled red. The veins in his neck bulged against his collar. He was not used to this tone. The old Isabel would have been crying by now, begging for his forgiveness.

"You ungrateful bitch," Kadin yelled. He lunged forward. His large hand reached out, aiming to grab her wrist and physically drag her to the passenger door.

Isabel's body reacted before her conscious mind did. Her nerve reflexes, honed by years of extreme genetic conditioning in her past life, fired instantly.

She sidestepped his grab with a fluid pivot. Her right hand shot up, slapping his reaching hand away with a stinging, bone-rattling force.

The loud smack echoed across the empty parking lot.

Kadin stumbled back. He clutched his stinging hand against his chest, his mouth falling open in sheer shock. The physical speed and the raw hostility of her movement paralyzed him for a second.

"Jessye is terrified of you coming back!" Kadin roared, recovering his voice. "She cries every night! You are a malicious, jealous monster, and we all know it!"

Isabel smirked. The mention of the fake sister made a cold knot of amusement tighten in her stomach.

"Keep your precious fraud," Isabel said, her eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. "I am done playing your pathetic little games."

Kadin gritted his teeth. He reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a black Cooper family credit card.

"I will cut off your accounts," Kadin threatened, his chest heaving. "I will leave you to starve on the streets. You won't last a week without our money!"

Isabel didn't blink. She reached out and took the card from his fingers, holding it delicately between her index and middle finger. She held his gaze—steady, unblinking—and then, slowly, deliberately, she loosened her grip. The black card slipped from her fingertips and clattered onto the filthy asphalt at his feet.

"Keep the change," she whispered.

Before Kadin could scream again, the deep, heavy purr of a V12 engine vibrated through the soles of their shoes.

A sleek, pitch-black Maybach glided silently into the parking lot. It pulled up directly behind the Mercedes, its massive grille gleaming in the sun.

The driver's door opened. Mr. Foster stepped out. He wore a pristine, tailored chauffeur uniform. His posture was military-straight.

Mr. Foster walked past Kadin as if the man were invisible. He stopped directly in front of Isabel and bent at the waist in a deep, respectful bow.

"Ms. Jensen," Mr. Foster said, his voice carrying clearly over the idling engine. "Madam Vanderbilt sent me to escort you."

Kadin stared. His jaw dropped. The red flush drained from his face, leaving him a sickly pale.

Mr. Foster turned and pulled open the heavy rear door of the Maybach. The scent of rich leather and air conditioning spilled out into the hot air.

Isabel stepped into the luxurious cabin. She did not look back.

The heavy door slammed shut with a solid thud, leaving Kadin standing frozen next to his discarded credit card in the prison parking lot.
