The Rejected Luna's Secret Pregnancy Chapter 1

Selena’s POV

The frost-kissed forest surrounding the Silver claw pack buzzed with life, but the warmth it usually brought me was absent. My hand tightened around the parchment in my grip, the official seal of the pack’s healer still visible at the bottom. Pregnant. The word echoed in my mind like a forgotten melody. After years of desperate hope and silent prayers, the moon goddess had finally blessed me.

But the joy I should have felt was drowned by a tidal wave of bitterness. My mate, Alpha Zane, had been growing more distant each passing day, and the reason for it was painfully clear.

I glanced at the glowing screen of my phone, my heart sinking as I scrolled through the pack’s communal thread. Zane’s face stared back at me, his smile brighter than I’d seen in years. He wasn’t smiling for me, though. In the picture, his arms were wrapped tightly around Linda, the rogue I’d taken in. Her hand rested protectively on her swollen belly, her gaze adoring as she looked up at him. The caption read: “Our Alpha, our protector.”

My wolf, Lyra, growled low in my mind. This is a betrayal, she hissed, her fury matching my own.

I slammed the phone down, pacing the length of the room. How had it come to this? A year ago, Linda had stumbled into our territory, desperate and trembling. She’d begged for sanctuary, claiming her pack had been slaughtered by rogues. I’d seen the fear in her eyes, the vulnerability, and convinced Zane to let her stay.

At first, she’d been nothing more than a shadow, meek and unassuming. But over time, she’d embedded herself into our lives, and Zane had grown... attentive. Too attentive. I’d chalked it up to his role as Alpha, always putting the pack first. But deep down, I knew better.

The phone buzzed on the table, snapping me from my thoughts. It was Linda.

I hesitated before answering, her frantic voice filling the silence. “Luna Selena, I’m so sorry about the pictures! They weren’t meant to—”

“Give me that,” Zane’s voice cut through, rough and impatient.

I froze, gripping the phone tighter.

“Selena,” he said coldly. “Stop wasting your time being jealous. It doesn’t suit you. Maybe if you’d focused on giving me an heir instead of wallowing in self-pity, things would be different.”

The line went dead.

I stared at the device, disbelief and rage warring within me. Lyra snarled, her fury igniting my own.

He dares speak to us like that? she spat.

I let the phone fall from my hand, the sound of it hitting the floor echoing in the silent room. My gaze shifted to the pregnancy report. I’d wanted to share the news with Zane, to see if this miracle could salvage what remained of our bond. But now, the idea of bringing a child into this mess felt unbearable.

My resolve hardened as I grabbed a cloak and stormed out of the room. The corridors of the packhouse were dimly lit, the quiet hum of life continuing around me as if nothing had changed.

The pack clinic stood at the edge of the territory, its sterile white walls illuminated by moonlight. I entered, my steps firm. The healer looked up from her work, surprise flickering across her face.

“Luna?” she asked, rising to her feet.

I placed the parchment on her desk, my voice steady. “I need to terminate this pregnancy.”

Her eyes widened, and she hesitated. “Are you sure? This is—”

“I’m certain,” I said sharply. “Do it.”

The healer nodded reluctantly, but as she prepared the tools, doubt began to creep in. Lyra whimpered softly, her earlier rage giving way to sadness.

This child is ours, she whispered. Our hope. Our legacy. Do not let him take that from us.

I clenched my fists, my mind spinning. Zane had betrayed me, had mocked me, but did that mean I should give up the one thing I’d fought so hard for?

As the healer approached, I raised a hand to stop her. “Wait.”

She froze, watching as I turned and stormed out of the clinic. The cold air hit me like a slap, but it brought clarity.

I wouldn’t let Zane Destroy me. Not anymore. If he didn’t want to be my mate, so be it. But this child—my child—deserved a mother who was strong enough to fight for them.

I returned to the packhouse, the weight of my decision settling on my shoulders. The betrayal still burned, but it no longer consumed me. I had spent years sacrificing for Zane, for the pack, for everyone but myself. That ended now.

By the next full moon, I would no longer be the Luna who waited in the shadows. I would carve out a new path—one that didn’t rely on anyone else.

And Zane would regret the day he underestimated me.
