Chapter 5

Chapter Five

Diana's Point of View

Divorce

I couldn't believe what had just happened. After our fight last night, everything felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from.

I had made enquiries at his office, piecing together fragments of his day, until I found my way to the award ceremony. And there she was-the woman he had claimed I had nothing to worry about, the one he had been hiding from me all along. My blood ran cold.

How could he do this after everything I had done for him?

My heart shattered into a million pieces, each shard stabbing me from the inside. I had poured myself into him, sacrificed so much, trusted him completely... and yet here I was, seeing the truth laid bare, cruel and merciless.

I had to leave the hall. I needed air, privacy, solitude. I found my way to the restroom and let myself break, letting the tears come, letting the sobs rack my body. My hands trembled as they gripped the cold porcelain sink.

What did he take me for? A fool? A puppet to toy with at his convenience?

Why did he promise me the world if he couldn't give me even a fraction of it?

What did I do to deserve this betrayal, this humiliation?

I couldn't stop myself. I left the hall and somehow found my way back home, my mind spinning, my chest tight with anger and despair.

I hadn't even sat down when the familiar roar of his car broke the silence. I felt a flicker of relief. Maybe he would explain. Maybe he would tell me that none of what I had seen mattered. Maybe he would deny it all, and I could breathe again.

But the moment he walked through the door, my vision became blurred. She was with him holding on to him tightly like a child. And in his other hand, another paper.

He dropped it on the table.

Confusion swirled inside me, anger following close behind but I couldn't stop myself as my heart still care.

I stepped closer, my voice tentative. "Have you eaten?"

He ignored me. His eyes didn't meet mine.

"Open it," he said, pointing to the paper.

I obeyed, trembling. My hands shook as I lifted it, my heart hammering against my ribs.

And then I saw it.

"No... no," I whispered, tears brimming and spilling down my cheeks. "You can't divorce me... please."

"I already did," he said simply. "You can see that I've signed it. Now I need you to sign it with immediate effect."

My knees threatened to buckle.

"This lady here is going to be my wife," he added, his tone flat, void of any hesitation.

"Wife?! Are you... already married behind my back?" My voice cracked.

"Oh... no," the woman interjected softly. "Once you're out of the picture, I'll step in," she said, lifting her hand to reveal a gold ring gleaming against her finger.

I took a deep, shuddering breath. It felt unreal, like I had been plunged into a nightmare that refused to end. My body trembled, every inch of me screaming in frustration and disbelief.

The man I had trusted with everything-my heart, my dreams, my life-had stabbed me without a second thought.

"No... David, we can settle our misunderstanding, babe," I pleaded, my voice desperate.

He didn't even look at me. His expression was distant, unyielding.

"There is nothing to settle. I am tired of this loveless marriage," he said firmly.

"Sign it and let me go," he continued, cold and detached. "You can keep this mansion, and one of the BMWs is yours."

I rolled my eyes. Did he think he was doing me a favor by tossing material possessions at me?

"No," I said, my voice shaking with barely contained fury. "I don't want it. What I want is my company back-the fashion empire you gave to this woman."

He flinched, though he didn't show it.

"I can't believe you lied to me all these years," I said, tears blinding me. "You deceived me, you made me believe you loved me."

"That's why you wouldn't allow me to bear your child. You forced me through series of abortions for your convenience," I continued, every word a dagger.

Tears streaked my face as I thought of all the sacrifices I had made for him.

"I endured three abortions because you weren't ready for a child. And now, when you no longer want me, you think a piece of paper can erase me?"

"You are wrong, David. I am not going anywhere until you give me back everything you took from me-everything I sacrificed for you."

"My company. My children that never lived. My loyalty. My dignity. All of it."

I watched him carefully. His gaze was sharp, calculating, but I didn't flinch. I wasn't afraid anymore.

"And if I refuse? What will you do? You have no one to fight for you. I am practically your only family," he said, trying to intimidate me.

I shook my head slowly, realizing that his plan was relentless.

"You don't want the whole world to know the truth about you," I said softly, seeing him falter ever so slightly.

He believed I was helpless, that I was naive. But I had him right where I wanted him, even if he didn't realize it yet. I would make him feel betrayal the way he had made me.

"This war isn't over," I said, fury burning like wildfire. "And I am the one who calls the shots here, not you, David."

Chapter Six

David Point of view.

You mean nothing

My mind was made up. I don't care about her. She doesn't have what it takes to make me stay.

She was nothing to me. Not a mother nor a wife.

I recalled the first day I saw her at the business meeting.

Everything was planned. After exchanging contacts with her. I saw desperation practically seeping through her.

She has everything except a partner. Someone to hold, someone to come home to.

She needed that and I was a young promising man. I didn't marry Diana for anything. I married her for my selfish reasons.

I made her quit her fashion business to concentrate on mine. She thought we were building a future together. What nonsense!

I was only seeing her as a ticket to get to where I wanted to be.

She loved me, was loyal to me. But all those years I was irritated by her presence. The longer I stayed with her the more unbearable it became for me.

I couldn't help it. When I found Eleanor. From the first moment I saw her at the mall I knew she was meant for me.

I can't wait any longer. I have always wanted to give Eleanor her rightful position in my life.

"You can't stop me Diana", I yelled.

"Whatever we had earlier has to end, I am fed up of this loveless marriage", I added much to her chagrin

"But you said you love me, I am your wife for goodness sake and you can't just drop a piece of paper and expect me to be gone into thin air",

"Did I never matter to you?",

I averted my gaze from her. I was very determined to not have anything to do with her by the time I was ready to end this marriage.

I made sure she always used protection the few times we had sex. Every time she got pregnant within the five years of our marriage I made sure she went to the hospital quickly to perform an abortion.

She wasn't fit to be the mother of my child. And now I am ready to settle down. She wants to be a hard-nut to crack

I won't allow Diana bring me down. She was going to sign the divorce paper whether she likes it or not. I will make sure about that.

"Sign it old witch!"Eleanor cursed through gritted teeth.

"I...I won't. I am not ready to allow you reap where you didn't sow",

"You think you can just come here and act like you are better than me and steal everything I have worked so hard to build"

"Ask David. I made him who he is today, where were you when he was struggling with his small business, because of me David is where he is today and the only thank you I get is a piece of paper", She said as she tore the paper into pieces.

"This rubbish has to stop and someone needs to clearly pass the message to both of you", she yelled like a mad woman.

I sighed deeply. Five years I have stayed with Diana. She hadn't for once behaved like this.

She had been calm, obedient and doing whatever I wanted.

I hadn't been a good man to her but she had stayed. Sometimes I could hear her praying in the midnight for me to change and become a better man to her.

But what she didn't know was that I was never there for the right reason.

I was in her life for a mission. And now that the mission was accomplished. I needed her to still be the same.

I needed her to still be humble to my wimps and caprices.

But she was becoming a hard nut to crack. She was proving to be ready to take more than she could bite.

She was showing me that she still got the power to bring me down.

I didn't listen to her speak again. I needed to act fast and the time was now. I walked past her to get the remaining documents but she stopped me.

"Don't you dare move an inch", she yelled.

"You have proven to me exactly the kind of person you are, I curse the day I met you, I cursed the day you told me to be your wife",

I watched as she struggled to remove the ring from her finger. She succeeded after several attempts and dropped it on the table.

"For the divorce, we can only talk about it until I have met with my lawyers",

"Whatever thing you came with can leave my house at this very moment",

I was stunned. She was obviously going crazy.

What does she mean?

I struggled to move past her again but she wasn't ready to let me go.

My whole body trembled. With the way she wanted to handle this whole divorce case. I couldn't imagine losing.

I needed to save what was left to ensure I still remained in control.

"You can leave David!", she yelled at the top of her voice

I was left with no option but to leave her presence.

I took Eleanor with me as we found our way to the door but turned my back at her.

"I will be back, watch me!", I pointed to her.

"And I will be ready by then", she said authoritatively.

I wondered what she was planning. A court case would be bad.

I wasn't disturbed. She had no financial strong hold. She wasn't working and didn't have a claim to her company anymore.

All that belong to Eleanor Williams now.

Eleanor fixed her gaze on me. "you didn't tell me she wasn't only an old witch but a tigress",

I didn't answer her at first. Is she becoming scared over those tiny threats from Diana?

"Don't worry babe, I have everything under control",

"I don't think so, what I saw right there was serious she wasn't going to back down until she achieved her aim",

I rubbed Eleanor back gently. "Don't you believe in me", I said and placed my lips on her softly.

Eleanor licked her lips. "Okay, where are we going now", she asked.

"To celebrate my award ofcourse", I said as I turned on my car engine.

I wasn't ready to let poor Diana ruin my mood. I already knew she was crying her eyes out in the house.

I can't wait for when she will come begging me. Everything she thought we built together was in my name.

The company, the houses, the investment

I laughed loudly as I drove away. The feeling of knowing that she wasn't ready for me.
