Chapter 2

The pack dining hall buzzed with conversation as I moved silently between tables, balancing a tray of hot tea. My hands trembled slightly—not from the weight, but from the constant tension of serving the woman who had stolen my mate.

"Haisley, could you pour us some tea?" Beta Marcus called out, his eyes holding a sympathy I wasn't sure I wanted.

I nodded, approaching their table with practiced caution. The ceramic pot felt warm against my palms as I carefully tilted it over Angelina's delicate china cup.

"Careful now," she said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "This dress is Valentino."

I focused on the stream of amber liquid, trying to ignore how Angelina deliberately shifted in her chair as I poured. The tea splashed onto the pristine white fabric of her expensive dress.

"Oh!" I gasped, jumping back. "I'm so sorry—"

The scream that tore from Angelina's throat silenced the entire dining hall.

"She burned me!" she shrieked, her face contorting in exaggerated pain. "Look what she's done!"

All eyes turned to us as Angelina thrust her arm forward, revealing angry red blisters forming on her pale skin.

"She used dark magic!" Angelina continued, her voice trembling with fear that seemed all too practiced. "I can feel it—the curse is getting stronger!"

Jake was at her side instantly, his face darkening with rage as he examined her arm.

"Haisley," he growled, his Alpha tone making my knees buckle. "What have you done?"

"I didn't—" I started, but Angelina cut me off.

"Look!" She pulled out her phone, scrolling through what appeared to be social media posts. "These are all the mysterious injuries I've been getting. They're getting worse!"

I caught a glimpse of the screen—photos of bruises and burns with timestamps and cryptic captions about "the curse" and "dark magic."

"I didn't do anything," I whispered, but Jake was already pulling Angelina away from me, his eyes flashing amber with protective fury.

"Get her out of here," he ordered two Delta warriors. "And take her to the healer."

---

The pack dungeons were cold and damp, the stone walls slick with moisture. I sat huddled in the corner of the cell, my arms wrapped around myself for warmth.

The heavy door swung open, and Jake strode in, his face a mask of cold fury.

"Why?" he demanded, looming over me. "Why would you use dark magic against her?"

"I didn't," I said, meeting his gaze steadily despite my fear. "Jake, please—"

"We have evidence," he cut me off, throwing a tablet into my lap. "Angelina's social media posts. The pattern of attacks. Your jealousy."

I stared at the screen in horror. The posts showed a series of injuries—some fresh, some healing—with captions suggesting they were from "unknown sources" and "dark curses."

"This isn't right," I whispered. "These are fake. She's manipulating you."

Jake crouched down, grabbing my chin roughly. "Confess, Haisley. Confess that you've been cursing my chosen mate out of jealousy."

From the shadows behind him, I caught a glimpse of movement—Angelina, watching with barely concealed satisfaction.

"I can't confess to something I didn't do," I said, my voice stronger than I expected.

His eyes flashed dangerously. "If you don't confess, I'll have no choice but to banish you permanently. Is that what you want?"

---

"Get out," Jake growled, shoving me into the back of his SUV.

The blood moon hung low in the sky, casting everything in an eerie crimson glow as we approached the border of rogue territory.

"Jake, please," I begged, clutching the door handle. "You can't leave me here."

He turned to me, his face hard in the dim light. "You brought this on yourself, Haisley."

"I didn't curse her," I insisted, tears streaming down my face. "She's lying to you."

"The evidence says otherwise," he replied coldly, pulling me from the car.

The night air bit into my skin as he dragged me to the boundary line marked by ancient stones.

"Until Angelina's curse is broken, you are not welcome in Silver Ridge territory," Jake declared, his Alpha tone binding the words like chains around my neck.

"Anyone who helps her will face immediate exile," he added, looking toward the treeline where several pack members had gathered to witness my punishment.

I stood alone at the border, watching as Jake turned and walked away without a backward glance.

"Goodbye, Haisley," he called over his shoulder. "Don't come back until you're ready to break the curse you cast."

The engine of his SUV roared to life, and then he was gone, leaving me alone in the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on my back and the howls of unknown wolves echoing in the distance.

I sank to my knees, feeling my wolf whimper inside me as the blood moon cast its crimson light over the dangerous territory ahead.

Chapter 3

The blood moon cast its crimson glow over the forest as I stumbled forward, my arms wrapped protectively around myself. The boundary stones of Silver Ridge territory faded behind me, marking the point of no return. Jake's SUV had disappeared minutes ago, leaving nothing but dust and the echo of his final words.

"Goodbye, Haisley."

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. The rogue territory stretched before me like a vast, unknown threat. Every shadow seemed to move, every sound amplified in the darkness.

"It's just for a few hours," I whispered to myself, though I knew better. Blood moons brought out the worst in wolves—especially rogues who had nothing to lose.

A low growl froze me in place.

My wolf stirred anxiously inside me as three pairs of eyes materialized from the darkness, reflecting the blood-red light of the moon. Rogues—three of them, circling me with predatory precision.

"Well, well," the largest one said, his voice rough and guttural. "What do we have here? A little Omega all alone on a blood moon night?"

I backed away slowly, my eyes darting between them. "I'm just passing through."

"Passing through?" Another wolf laughed, revealing yellowed teeth. "No pack scent on you anymore. You've been cast out."

They moved closer, their nostrils flaring as they scented me. I realized with horror that Jake's rejection had stripped away his protective Alpha scent, leaving me vulnerable.

"Please," I said, my voice trembling. "I mean no harm."

"Harm?" The third wolf, a female with matted fur, circled behind me. "It's not about harm, little Omega. It's about survival."

They lunged simultaneously.

I screamed, dodging the first attack but not the second. Pain exploded across my back as claws tore through my jacket and into my flesh. I fell forward, tasting blood and dirt.

"Stop!" I cried out, scrambling to my feet. "I'm Haisley Gordon of the Moonstone Pack!"

"The Moonstone Pack is miles from here," the male wolf sneered, his eyes gleaming with bloodlust. "And you're nothing but an Omega without protection."

Another slash caught my arm as I tried to run. My shoulder dislocated with a sickening pop, and I collapsed again, tears streaming down my face.

"Your Alpha abandoned you," the female wolf hissed, her breath hot against my ear as she pinned me down. "No one wants an Omega."

I summoned what little strength I had left and kicked upward, catching her in the chest. She yelped in surprise, giving me just enough time to scramble away.

Blood soaked through my clothes as I staggered toward a cluster of rocks I'd spotted earlier. The wolves pursued, their howls filling the night air.

"Come back here!" one shouted. "You're already wounded!"

I ducked into the narrow opening of a cave, my body screaming in protest as I squeezed through. The entrance was small—too small for the larger wolves to follow.

Their furious snarls echoed outside as I collapsed inside the dark space, my breathing shallow and ragged.

"Find her!" I heard one command. "She can't have gone far!"

I pressed my hand against my mouth to stifle my sobs as blood pooled beneath me. The claw marks across my back burned like fire, and my dislocated shoulder throbbed with each heartbeat.

"I'm going to die here," I whispered to my wolf, feeling her weakening presence inside me.

---

Consciousness returned in fragments—the soft sensation of fur beneath my cheek, the rhythmic movement of running, voices speaking urgently above me.

"Alpha, her pulse is weak."

"Get the healer ready."

"She's losing too much blood."

I forced my eyes open, wincing at the pain that radiated through my body. Above me loomed a massive black wolf with silver markings—an Alpha's wolf—carrying me gently in his jaws.

"Stay with us," a deep voice commanded, his Alpha tone wrapping around me like a lifeline. "We've got you now."

I recognized that voice, though it had been years since I'd heard it.

"Grant?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.

The wolf's pace increased, and I felt his rage and concern through the vibrations of his body.

"I've got you, Haisley," Alpha Grant Kennedy of the Black Moon Pack said, his voice thick with emotion. "You're safe now."

I tried to respond, but darkness claimed me again.

When I next opened my eyes, I was being carried through the territory of a foreign pack. Grant had shifted back to human form, cradling me against his chest as he strode purposefully toward what appeared to be their pack house.

"Grant," I managed to say, my fingers weakly clutching his shirt. "How did you find me?"

His eyes—dark and intense—met mine, filled with a fury I'd never seen before.

"My patrol was at the boundary," he said, his jaw clenched tight. "We sensed blood—your blood."

I glanced down at myself and winced. My clothes were torn and soaked with crimson, my skin pale from blood loss.

"Who did this to you?" Grant demanded, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl. "Who would dare hurt my—"

He stopped abruptly, but not before his wolf roared inside him, the sound reverberating through his chest and into me.

"My childhood friend," he finished, but the look in his eyes told a different story.

His wolf knew exactly who I was to him. And as he carried me toward safety, I realized that perhaps I'd been wrong about where I truly belonged all along.
