After Being Buried Alive by My Mother and Reborn, I Stopped Pretending Chapter 1

My mother Mary liked to dig mountain plants, saying they could help people maintain health and prolong life. She even gave them to her grandson Edison, but she didn't know that some herbs could not eaten by kids.

When Edison was seven years old and had a high fever, she used the things she dug from the mountain to make soup to treat him.

I tried my best to dissuade her and sent Edison to the hospital for emergency treatment despite everyone's opposition.

They didn't know that Edison's body had been long damaged because he had been fed these herbs since he was a child. Fortunately, he was rescued in time and saved, but he lost sensation in his limbs from then on.

But instead of thanking me, my family members including Edison believed that it was me who prevented Edison from eating those magic herbs, causing him to be disabled, and they had been resentful of me ever since.

On a rainy day, Mary and my sister-in-law Sofia pushed me off the hillside, and my head hit a rock and started bleeding.

Before I died, I heard their conversation.

[You damn bitch, it's all your fault that my son became like that! You have to give him a new life as compensation!]

"Sofia, don't worry, the immortal herb watered with human blood has the best effect. Just take her blood! It will definitely work!"

......

When I opened my eyes again, I went back to the afternoon when Edison had a fever.

Seeing Mary bringing out the pot of black soup from the kitchen, I sneered and left.

In this life, I wanted to see how long Edison could live after he drank this pot of soup.

They were so greedy for money that even not afraid of death. I wondered how would they react when Edison was killed by them.

[!]

When I regained consciousness, I was standing by the kitchen, where a middle-aged woman was boiling medicinal soup.

I subconsciously grabbed the door frame. Before I was sober yet, I heard Sofia's impatient shouting.

"Mia! I told you not to stand idle here. You don't help with the work but just stand there like a piece of wood!"

As she said this, she pushed me away and brought a bowl of soup into Edison's room.

"Sweetheart, you will be fine after taking this medicine. A fever is nothing! It's a waste of money to go to the hospital!"

As Mary said this, she glanced at me and followed Sofia in without looking back.

In my previous life, I realized something was wrong when I saw this pot of inky black medicinal soup, so I rushed into the kitchen and found that the root of Aconitum was added to it.

Aconitum was an herbal medicine, but if it was not specially treated, it was very poisonous to an adult, let alone children.

Realizing that something was wrong, I immediately rushed into the room and said that the food was poisonous and that children could not eat it casually. At that time, Mary had already forced open Edison's mouth and poured a few spoonfuls of it into him.

But before I could finish my words, she scolded me for being heartless. She said that she had been eating these herbs dug from the mountains all her life, so they must be safe. Sofia chimed in, mocking me for not having children because I was afraid of not having a son, and that I was jealous of her giving birth to Edison, so I didn't let Mary feed Edison medicine.

I was so anxious that I lost my mind. I took out my cell phone to call the ambulance and stepped forward to stop them from feeding Edison medicine.

As I moved, the scalding soup splashed onto my arm, and my originally normal skin instantly turned red.

I screamed and immediately went to find cold water.

Seeing the medicine spilled, Mary started to scold me at the top of her voice. She said that I was living well in the city but bullied them and even refused to let Edison take the medicine when I came home. It was as if I wanted to kill Edison.

Sofia had never been a good person. When she saw Mary scolding me, she reached out and strangled me. At that time, I just wanted to save Edison who had been harmed so badly, so I could only hide and explain.

Pinching me didn't satisfy Mia, so she even went to the kitchen and tried to scald me with boiling water.

At this moment, my brother Edward came home. He knew that I was educated, so he followed my advice and waited for the ambulance to arrive.

Edison was sent to the hospital, where he had his blood drawn and tested. The doctor looked serious after the examination and said that Edison was in serious physical condition and even had problems with his blood test. The doctor was doubtful about the things Edison's parents usually fed him.

After hearing that Edison had drunk the decoction containing Aconitum, the doctor became so angry that he stood up. He picked up the medical record and then put it down again, but in the end, he held back his impulsion of slapping them.

Fortunately, Edison was sent to the hospital in time, otherwise, he might not have been able to survive.

When the doctor was giving them a lecture, the three of them didn't dare to say anything but kept smiling and nodding. During this time, I sighed alone while holding my burned arm that had just been treated. I paid for all the medical expenses. I knew I was also going to pay for the subsequent treatments.

When I saw the resentful eyes of Mary and Sofia, I thought they were blaming themselves for what happened to Edison. Now I realized that they were blaming me for ruining their plan of using those herbs to treat Edison.

Edison was rescued, but he had since lost the feeling in his legs.

Even though the doctor repeatedly emphasized, "You should be glad that you had sent Edison to the hospital in time, so we can keep his brain intact. But the subsequent recovery period is crucial, otherwise, there is still a risk of amputation..."

After hearing this, they looked at me with even more resentment, as if they blamed me for causing the risk of Edison's amputation, completely forgetting that I had saved Edison's life.

After waking up, Edison obviously couldn't accept the fact that he was disabled. I didn't know what Sofia had said to him, but he told everyone in the village that I was the one who harmed him.

[It's all my evil-hearted aunt's fault! It's her! It's her who made me unable to walk! It's her!]

At the same time, Sofia spread rumors in the village that I had been having affairs with other men in the city, saying that I earned all my money now by sleeping with men.

I was wronged and was even more angry with my ungrateful family members. I wanted to argue with Mary, but she pouted and looked at me as if I were a monster. "Who knows what you are doing in the city? You are not as kind to me as Sofia. She gave birth to Edison, but you have crippled him! You bitch! You deserve to die!"

Was I not as kind to Mary as Sofia was? I bought all the new furniture in this house, and I also bought her blood pressure control medicine. I had never disobeyed her when she asked for something.

Moreover, I had proposed to take her to the city to enjoy a better life a long time ago, but she refused. She even said something crazy like asking me to give my company to Edward.

In the end, we parted ways unhappily.

Not long after, on a rainy day, Mary suddenly called and said that my father's grave had been washed away by the flood, and asked me to go back and check it out as soon as possible.

I went back but found nothing happened. But when I was about to leave, Sofia appeared behind me and pushed me off the slope.

When I rolled down the slope, my head hit a protruding rock. I just felt a lot of blood flowing and my vision gradually blurred.

In a trance, I saw Mary. I waved to her and called her name, but she was holding a shovel in her hand.
