Rebirth: Everything Is Still Possible Chapter 1

My amniotic fluid was broke, but my mother-in-law, Sarah, refused to send me to the hospital.

Feeling intense pain underneath me, I was almost out of breath.

"Someone! Take me to the hospital please. Javion Hunt... Javion Hunt..."

"Stop shouting. Per a local doctor, the baby, who is born within two hours after the amniotic fluid is broke, will be a boy. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being incompetent and getting pregnant with a girl."

She kept talking. "What a superstitious fool."

Later, I had a hemorrhage. Only then did Sarah send me to the hospital hurriedly.

Unfortunately, it was too late. I died with a baby in my belly.

Fortunately, I was reborn before everything was too late.

——

After I died, my soul did not dissipate. It stayed in the vulgar world with my body for a while.

When I arrived at the hospital, Sarah kept pulling the doctor's arm.

She shouted and demanded that her precious grandson be born. She threatened to file a lawsuit if the doctor failed to do as she had said.

I did deliver a boy, but unfortunately, he was dead.

"It's all your fault. You suffocated my grandson to death."

She continued to curse and throw a tantrum on the floor. Eventually, a security guard kicked her out.

I watched all of this from above. My so-called husband, Javion, never showed up.

I was not willing to accept such an outcome, thinking, "Why should my life be trampled upon like this?"

I died so desperately at the most helpless moment.

On the way to the hell, a voice suddenly rang out in my ears.

"Your grudge is too strong, which makes you not suitable for reincarnation. Alright, you will start over again."

A white light suddenly appeared in front of me. It became brighter and brighter.

I felt a pang of sharp pain in my feet. I looked down, only to see my worn-out canvas shoes were covered in mud, with blood seeping out.

I looked up and saw my house not far away.

I slowly walked towards my house. The woman, who was killing her time at the doorstep, saw me. She was stunned for a moment. Then she picked up a broom next to her quickly and walked towards me.

The face in front of me gradually enlarged, which was familiar yet unfamiliar to me. It was my mother, Kate.

"Why did you come back again? How many times do I have to tell you? You were adopted by Linda. Don't come back again in the future."

As she spoke, she raised the broom as if she wanted to hit me.

I saw a loved one after coming back to life, feeling a burst of emotions brewing in my heart. Looking at my mother in front of me, I was disappointed.

"Let it be. After all, It has been a long time since she married me off happily. Then she never comes to see me again."

"As for Linda..."

I recalled her.

Since my younger brother was born, my family had to shoulder a heavier burden. Even though they cut down on my expenses as best as they could, they felt that they hadn't given enough things to my brother.

Linda was a widow with no children. I was obedient and sensible, and my parents didn't like me. Seeing so, she wanted to adopt me as her daughter.

At first, my parents disagreed, thinking that I could marry a man in the future and they could gain some benefits from the groom's family. They thought they would suffer great losses to give me away for free.

Then their precious son fought with the principal's son at school without a sense of propriety. They urgently needed money to settle the matter.

Coincidentally, Linda offered to give them some money. Without any hesitation, they gave me away to her.

Lost in thought, my mother hit me heavily with the broomstick.

"Why are you pretending to be dumb? Can't you hear me? Go back and apologize to Linda immediately."

Seeing that she was about to hit me again, I ran into the house quickly.

"I'm not coming back. I'm here to get something."

I wanted to get my father's hidden money.

It was little treasury hidden in a notebook, which my father used for his eating, drinking, whoring, and gambling.

My mom didn't follow me. She was busy killing her time at the door, thinking that I couldn't cause any trouble.

I ran into the house quickly and stuffed the banknotes into my pocket one by one.

Suddenly, the phone rang. "Is Jessa back to your home again? Well, forget it. Since this child wants to stay by your side so much, I don't want to separate you from your biological daughter. Consider my money as a little gift from me to Jessa. Treat her well."

The woman, who was talking to herself over the phone, was Linda.

"No, Linda, it's my parents. They... they want your money, but they don't want to give me to you. They told me to find a chance to run away from you. I do want to be with you. Can you come and pick me up?" I pretended to sob. I did cry.

The woman on the phone was stunned for a moment. Then she said in a gentle tone, "Jessa, alright. I will come and pick you up."

"I died once, and now I managed to come back to life. What's wrong with me going crazy for a bit?"

When my parents sent me away in my previous life, I refused to leave no matter what. I insisted on staying by my parent's side. I had deep attachment to my parents , and I was scared by the unfamiliar environment.

So I ran back home on foot, from one village to another. My shoes were worn out from running. But what awaited me was not my parent's warm embrace, but their scolding, beating, and moral coercion.

Linda gave up later. I returned home as I wished.

But it seemed that my house was the most unfamiliar place to me.

"Is the food ready? I'm starving to death." The precious Asher Doyle, whom was the apple of my parent's eyes and my younger brother, came back.

As soon as he entered the door, my mom walked up to him with a smile. She helped him take off his schoolbag.

"Baby, you must be tired from studying. Sit down. Let me serve you food."

"What's so tiring about getting a few points in the exam? He may be tiring from beating people."

Seeing me, my mom looked disgusted. She said, "You have no right to speak here. Hurry up. Get utensils for your younger brother. Don't make a fuss."

She seemed to realize that she was in the wrong. Then she gave me a disdainful look.

"I have nothing to do with you now. Would you order a stranger to do this and that?"

They seemed surprised that I, who had always been submissive, would say such things. Then they were all stunned without saying anything.

It was my younger brother who spoke first. He said, "Then you better get out of here. You have no right to speak here." He, who was in elementary school, knew nothing about good virtues. Instead, he learned a lot about being domineering and arrogant.

"I am just about to leave." I walked up to him and gently said to him, "Enjoy being the special favorite of mom and dad." Then I left without looking back.

They revealed anger and disbelief on their faces.

In my memory, my dad has been working for Richard, a man who started his business by himself, during this time, so he wouldn't be coming back these days. Instead of making a profit, he suffered great losses. Then he got addicted to gambling and alcohol. When he came back, he would fly into a rage from time to time.

One day, he suddenly found that there was less money in his little safe. During dinner, he flew into a rage and angrily questioned us who had touched his notebook.

"It was Jessa who had done it. I saw her take the money from the notebook."

My father turned his head sharply and looked at me. His tall figure cast a shadow over me. He looked fierce and evil as if he were about to kill someone in the next second. I was so scared that I couldn't stop trembling.

"It wasn't me." I shook my head non-stop.

His fists rained down on me. I felt as if my internal organs were about to burst open. Suddenly, the smell of blood filled my mouth.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw my mother holding my younger brother and hiding in a corner. She covered Asher's eyes with her hand and watched indifferently as I was beaten half to death. The look in her eyes was more heart-wrenching than the punches.

"The fact is there. I don't even know what's in the notebook."

But they didn't want to think about it. They believed what Asher said without listening to my explanation or caring about the truth. They just wanted to find a scapegoat. After all, they wouldn't hit Asher.

Later, I lay on the bed for a long time. Only then did my mother come to feed me a few mouthfuls of rice. Because of her little bit of love, I chose to forgive them and then wasted my whole life like that.

The wind blew on my face. My face was wet. I cried, thinking, "How many lifetimes does it take to get rid of the pain of my original family?"

"Now that I'm gone. It's time for you to taste what I ever felt."

Linda arrived soon. She seemed to be too lazy to bother with my mother again. She took me directly back to her home when she saw me.

She put her hand on my shoulder, bent down, and asked, "Jessa, this is the room I prepared for you. Do you like it?" I had never seen my biological mother smile as gently as Linda did.

"I like it."

"How could I not like it? I didn't have my own room in my previous life. Although the room in front of me is not big, it has everything I need. The key is that there is a desk."

"Failing to go to school has always been a regret of my previous life. If it weren't for my parents being short of money and having to support Asher's education, I wouldn't have been forced to drop out of school and gone to work. Nor would I have been married early and died in difficult childbirth at the age of 23."

"I must change my life trajectory this time. I will never repeat the mistakes I made in my previous life."

"Linda, I want to go to school" I thought, "If Linda is unwilling, I will use the money in my pocket to support myself for a while. Then I will work to support my study."

"Of course, you have to go to school. What will happen if children don't go to school? Jessa, you should go to junior high school, right? I will take you to register for junior high school in a few days."

Linda laughed at my idea and gently touched my face with her rough palm.

Feeling the warmth of her palm on my face, I thought God was favoring me.

"It is something that I should have taken for granted. After my begging repeatedly, my parents turned me down. But now I have it easily."

"In my previous life, everyone around me told me that it was useless for girls to go to school. It was the right way for a girl to get married and have a son early. Relatives and friends, who had sons, all cherished their sons. For those who didn't have a son, they would continue giving birth even though they had given birth to three or five kids. It was difficult for me to stand out under such an environment."

Fortunately, my road ahead was much wider now.
