Rebirth: Don’t Listen to the Devil’s Family Chapter 1

My younger brother was injured in a fight and hospitalized during the Christmas.

I watched as my grandmother fed my brother spoonful after spoonful.

I said, "The doctor asked my brother to be fasting before the surgery..."

Before I could finish my sentence, the cane landed on my head.

My mom scolded me for being a good-for-nothing, and my dad kicked me directly into a corner.

Blood blurred my eyes. My brother clapped his hands and cheered.

On Christmas Eve, they had a happy family time.

I curled up in the pigsty, covered in blood.

When I opened my eyes... Time had gone back to before my brother's surgery, and I watched as Grandma stuffed the food into my brother's mouth.

The corners of my lips curled up and I chose to remain silent...

——

I held the brand new and white thermos with both hands and was in a trance for a moment.

Looking at the sumptuous dishes on the table, my mother's curses came from behind me...

"What are you looking at? This isn't something you can think about."

"The leftovers are enough for you to eat! Hurry up and send the Christmas Eve dinner to your brother!"

I slowly raised my head and saw my dad tasting his cigarette and wine.

Seeing that I was looking at him, he kicked me hard between my legs.

"You wicked girl! Hurry up, what are you waiting for?"

I was kicked to kneel on the ground. The pain woke me up completely.

It turned out that...

I was reborn.

I took a deep breath and quickly stood up.

I quickly put the food into the thermos and trotted out with the thermos in my arms.

As soon as the door was closed, I heard my mother shouting in the room.

"Don't steal the food! This is prepared for my son!"

My dad clicked his tongue and seemed to have kicked over a chair.

"Let's go and see our son. If she dares to take a bite, I'll beat her to death."

I didn't listen any longer and left quickly.

My brother was the only male descendant of our family, the most treasured one.

Every time they had a meal, they would put the best part on his plate.

I didn't deserve to eat at the table at all. I could only wait for everyone to finish eating.

When the leftovers were gathered into a pot to feed the pigs, they would give me a spoonful.

Even so, I've never complained or eaten secretly...

Because I wanted to go to school, as long as they let me go to school, don't marry me off to an old man in the village for money.

No matter how they beat and scolded me or asked me to work, I could endure it.

But my brother was almost seven years old, they planned to sell me to an old man and use the money to send him to school in the county.

I came to the hospital.

I held the thermos and handed it to Grandmother with a well-behaved face.

"Grandma, I ran over and brought this over. The temperature is just right. Is the water almost used up? I'll go get some now."

It's rare that Grandma didn't scold me.

"At least you're a little useful today. Humph, the doctors and nurses here are so bad that they won't let my eldest grandson eat! What if he gets hungry?"

"Stop talking nonsense. I'm going to starve to death! Ah!" My younger brother's face was full of annoyance, and his mouth was wide open.

"My dear grandson, I'll feed you right away!"

Grandma's face was full of love as she fed him spoonful after spoonful.

I held the kettle and watched the scene silently.

Grandma turned her head and glared at me.

"You wicked girl, if you dare to tell the doctors and nurses that your brother is eating, I'll ask your father to beat you to death!"

Right at this moment, my dad came in.

He raised his hand and slapped my head. It hurt so much that I felt a little dizzy.

"Mom, don't worry. This wicked girl doesn't dare."

When my brother saw this scene, his mouth was stuffed with food.

He didn't forget to applaud and cheer like before;

"Beat her! Beat the bastard to death!"

I lowered my gaze and walked out with the kettle.

When filling the kettle, I took a few sips of cold water. This was my first sip today.

Looking at the silent moonlight, I slowly raised the corner of my mouth.

When I returned to my room, my brother had already eaten half of the food in the lunch box.

I looked at the leftovers and deliberately swallowed my saliva.

Sure enough, when my brother saw me like this, he quickly finished the rest of the food.

He burped and imitated the adult's tone.

"You are good-for-nothing! I won't give you any leftovers!"

Grandma lovingly wiped his mouth.

"That's right. What you said makes so much sense. It's obvious that you are going to be an official and make a fortune. How dare this wicked girl covet such a good meal?"

I lowered my eyes and looked down at the ground in silence.

I couldn't help narrowing my eyes, trying to conceal the emotion in them.

I thought, "Yes, I'm good-for-nothing, I am a wicked girl, but I am better than you beasts who are about to die."

In front of me, Grandma directly discussed it with my dad.

"Old Mr. Lester can really give us 1,300 USD."

My dad was drinking wine sip by sip. His eyes were red.

He smacked his lips and said, "Yes, he can. My brother has inquired about it."

Grandma and Mom smiled with satisfaction and sighed with emotion.

"That's good. I trust your brother's ability. It's somewhat useful to let her attend school. If we marry her off, my son can go to school in the county."

My younger brother cheered happily.

I couldn't help but smile, thinking, "Hurry up to be happy. You won't live to go to school in the county."
