The Stingy Man Kicked My Sister out with Nothing, But I’m the Queen of Stinginess Chapter 1

I’d always been careful with everything since I was a kid. I just didn’t want anyone to take advantage of me so easily.

One day, my aunt, Bianca, borrowed two sacks of flour from our family. When she returned them, the flour was lighter, a few pounds short. I waited at her door for three hours.

“You borrowed 700 grams, but you only gave back 412 grams? That’s a shortfall of $1.7 at the current market price,” I said flatly.

Another time, my cousin asked my mom to buy $16.8 worth of meat, but when she paid, she only gave me $14.

I measured the extra portion with a ruler and cut it off without hesitation. “One bill will buy exactly 4.5 pounds. Don’t worry, I won’t let you lose even a cent.”

My cousin was furious and told everyone I was stingy and calculating. My parents were terrified that people would think badly of me and that I’d never get married.

They didn’t just force me to change my behavior, they even made me study a major I hated. We had a huge fight and I left home. I didn’t return for ten years.

On the day of my PhD graduation, my mother called me in tears. “Sweetheart, come home! Your sister’s getting a divorce. Her husband not only cheated on her, he also faked debts and expects her to pay back half a million dollars.”

I immediately pulled out the receipts my sister had sent me and spent the entire night checking them.

The next morning, I took the earliest flight and rushed to that jerk’s company, carrying three boxes full of bills.

I turned on my calculator. “Before you got married, you borrowed $9.1 from my sister. It’s now 7 years and 5 months overdue. Based on the LPR, you still owe $1.8 in interest.

——

Also, you’ve been using my sister’s Netflix account, $2.11 per month, $25.27 a year.”

“Last time she told me you drank half her yogurt, that’s $1.5. So the total comes to… $38.57.”

My fingers danced over the calculator. Tom Hawke noticed the strange looks from his coworkers, then grabbed my hand to stop me, his teeth clenched.

“Calista Wren, aren’t you ashamed? You came all the way here just to say this?” I froze when he said that name. He thought I was my twin sister. Of course, he wouldn’t know, I hadn’t been home in nearly ten years.

Tom only knew that Calista had a sister. He never realized we were twins. I didn’t bother explaining. Instead, I raised the calculator to his face.

“If you don’t want to be embarrassed, stop doing dirty things. Pay back the money and I’ll leave right away.”

I stood there with my hands on my hips and my chin up, just like when I was a kid collecting debts.

Whispers spread through the office. “I didn’t know Tom’s wife was such a bitch. No wonder she cheated on him and he couldn’t even say a word.”

I almost laughed in disbelief. Tom was actually turning the tables, accusing me, no, my sister of betrayal.

Seeing the tension rise, one of his coworkers finally said, “Tom, just pay her back.” “She’s been a housewife for years, with no job or skills. If she doesn’t squeeze a little out of you now, how will she survive?”

As soon as those words dropped, laughter burst out across the office. Mocking smiles and smug faces turned toward me

I didn’t rush to argue. Instead, I reached into one of the boxes and pulled out a ledger labeled Wedding Bonus.

Smack!

I slammed it on a male coworker’s desk, my nails stabbing into the third page.

“Tom Hawke, right?”

“Eight years ago, when you got married, you borrowed $140.40 from me. The following year, when I got married, your wife only returned $70.20.”

“If you’re not that picky, then pay me back the rest.”

Tom’s face turned red. He couldn’t even lift his head. Under my relentless words, his defenses finally broke. He said with a trembling voice
