"We finally meet again, my little mate," a man kicked the door open, sending a powerful surge of shock through me.
Today was my mating ceremony with Alpha Sebastian Alonzo. My entire family, and friends, along with myself and Alpha Sebastian's family had spent time planning for that one event for months, what we hadn't planned for, however, was an uninvited guest.
The man who barged inside was a tall man with biceps that I sure needed extreme dedication and consistency to build. His entire aura commanded respect and had almost everyone in the room bowing down their heads, and I would have bowed my head down as well if I didn't feel this strong pull keeping my head up.
He walked forward and had other able-bodied werewolves following closely behind him as well. It was only when we were a foot apart that he finally stopped and when my eyes met with blue haunting eyes, I knew that it was him.
It was Alpha Charles Dmitri.
Ten years ago, I saved him when he was a drowning pup, and perhaps that was when my undoing began.
Flashback…
On the way to see my sister, I saved a pup from drowning and when the pup finally regained consciousness, he stared at me with blue haunting eyes and held onto my hand firmly as though his life depended on it, before he whispered, “Mate.”
“You must be confused, pup. We’ll have you fixed up soon,” I told him, tending to his wounds, but he was persistent.
“My father says that the Dmitri men are never confused so I know that I am not confused in any way, you, my dearest, are my little mate,” he said with too much confidence for someone so young that it terrified me to my bones.
That was when I realized that he was the Alpha’s heir, Charles Dmitri.
Nothing good ever came from the Dmitri family where weak omegas were concerned. In most cases, they turned us into slaves, and in much rarer cases, they killed omegas for being too weak.
Ever since that one incident, I tried to stay away from anyone and everyone who could possibly be connected to the alpha and his family in any way, but I guess that you could never really hide forever.
End of flashback…
A loud growl met my ears, drawing me out of the trance that Alpha Dmitri’s presence had pulled me into.
Turning to find the source, I saw my mate. The mate that I agreed to spend an eternity with, Alpha Sebastian Alonzo. His eyebrows furrowed into a frown and his fists were clenched by his sides. Soon a few of his men joined us, standing behind him and silently proclaiming war amongst the two alphas.
“One would at least think that an alpha would know not to take what isn’t his. This is your last chance, apologize to my mate, Anastasia, and quietly leave,” Alpha Sebastian half said, half growled.
Alpha Charles only scoffed, crossing his arms across his shoulders. “Or?”
“You die.”
This time, Alpha Charles Dmitri flexed his fingers, openly accepting the challenge. “We’ll see about that.”
It all happened in a blur, without warning, both of the alpha’s men lunged at each other and it didn’t take long before Alpha Sebastian and Alpha Charles attacked each other as well.
During the fight, I came to see some truth about the rumors that went around about the Dmitri name. In less than a minute, Alpha Charles had ripped Alpha Sebastian apart, leaving him drenched in blood the moment he shifted back. He truly came from a ruthless family.
Once everyone noticed that Alpha Sebastian was dead, the fighting in the hall came to a halt. The winner had already been established.
Too stunned to speak, I only wept, mourning the loss of my love and mate, Alpha Sebastian, and mourning the loss of my freedom.
Drenched in blood, Alpha Charles walked forward until he was standing right in front of me. “Don’t go around making me jealous, little mate. It makes my vicious side come alive.”
