No Distrust Between Us, No Future Chapter 1

Harry Hartman, my boyfriend gave his first love a sparkling diamond ring, but at the engagement party of us, he gave me a can pull ring.

I didn't take it and he accused me of not being sensible.

"I've known Samantha for many years, so I gave her a random gift, nothing else."

"How can you get engaged to me if you didn't take your ring? You're making a big fuss out of nothing. You really can't get engaged to me."

I backed out of the engagement on the spot, but then he immediately pulled his first love to get engaged to him.

Three years later, I happened to meet him at a birthday party of the richest man's son.

He was an up-and-coming man, a spotlight, in the investment circle. Once he airlifted 99,999 roses to please his fiancée, causing a stir throughout the city.

So as soon as he and his fiancé stepped into the ballroom, almost all eyes were on them.

Seeing me, disheveled and crouching down on the floor picking up something, he mocked me.

"Lorelei, when you complained about me using a can pull ring as a ring, you didn't expect today to come, did you?"

"Now, even if you kneel down in front of me and beg me, just dream on -- you go back to me."

I ignored him. Today was my son's birthday and I had to quickly pick up the family photo puzzle that had accidentally fallen on the floor and give it to my son.

If I was too late to go, he was going to cry again.

——

In the ballroom, as soon as Harry appeared with Samantha Hyatt, who was wearing an haute couture dress, everyone gathered around them.

The eyes of the rich ladies fixed on Samantha with envy.

"Mr. Hartman, I heard, you specially airlifted 99,999 roses from Syldavia for your fiance. That's really thoughtful of you."

"Most of the companies you’ve invested in over the past few years have been successfully listed. I'm afraid no one can compare to you except the richest man in Caspian."

"Oh, he’s such a young and promising and he loves you so much. You should be happy to be Ms. Hartman."

Samantha leaned shyly in Harry's arms and responded to them, "We're not married yet, so I'm not Ms. Hartman yet."

Harry looked at her with love and concern and explained to them.

"We're still young, so we're not in a hurry to get married. I've already told her, I won't marry anyone else but her in this life."

The praise around me made my thoughts drift back to three years ago.

The moment proposed to me, he put his arm around my shoulder, showing off and declaring to our friends.

"Listen up, guys! I'll marry Lorelei in this life. If the person I marry is not her, you guys shouldn't come to the wedding."

Listening to his promise, my eyes unconsciously turned red and teary.

It was the first time someone proposed to me, full of confidence and enthusiasm.

I thought Harry loved me.

I didn't expect him to be eager to get engaged to his first love as soon as I broke off the engagement.

The vows Harry and Samantha made at the engagement party made me feel like… I was an obstacle to their love.

Without me, they should have gotten married and had children a long time ago. How could they have dragged their feet because of their youth?

Besides, the two of them were almost thirty years old.

Just then, a young wealthy lady accidentally stepped on me.

"Who are you? This is not the place where you pick up scraps!"

I spent three days in the studio catching up on my drawings, with my hair disheveled and even my body covered in various colors of paint, I really didn't fit in with the people around me.

I hastened to explain.

"I'm not a scrap picker, I'm the hostess today. I accidentally dropped something."

She shot me a disgusted look.

"Still a mental illness! Waiter, hurry up and get her out!"

Her loud voice caught the attention of the guests around her.

Harry glanced at me casually, then stared at me closely, approaching slowly with a puzzled look on his face.

"Lorelei?"

Feronica Rowand looked at him in surprise.

"Mr. Hartman, you know her?"

Harry suppressed his expression and spoke in an indifferent voice.

"A high school classmate, but I wasn't close to her."

Just then, he put his arm around Samantha's shoulder and chatted with others, as if I was just an unfamiliar classmate.

The waiter came over, taking advantage of the situation and reaching out to grab my arm.
