My Husband Cheated with My Sister, So I Married His Rival Chapter 1

The front door swung open silently. I stepped into the foyer of my own home and immediately heard the wet, slapping sounds echoing from the living room.

A low groan vibrated through the hallway.

I walked forward. My husband, Nathan Foster, pinned a woman against the expensive leather sofa. His hips snapped forward in a wild, frantic rhythm. Sweat coated his bare back. He panted like a dying animal, completely deaf to my footsteps.

The woman beneath him moaned, her hands digging into his shoulders.

Olivia. My younger sister.

I crossed my arms and leaned against the doorframe. I didn't scream. I didn't cry. The absolute absurdity of the scene burned away any tears I might have shed.

"Sorry to interrupt your fun," I said, my voice slicing through the heavy air. "But I think I found two shameless faces left out on the porch. Did you drop them, or were you just born this way?"

Olivia shrieked. She scrambled backward, knocking her head against the armrest.

Nathan froze. He ripped himself away from her, his chest heaving. He scrambled to pull up his trousers, nearly tripping over the rug in his haste. He stared at me, his eyes wide.

"Charlotte," he choked out. He fumbled with his zipper. "Didn't you say you wouldn't be home tonight?"

A harsh laugh escaped my throat. "So, that is the very first thing you want to say to your wife?"

He rubbed the back of his neck, his face flushing a deep crimson. "It's... it's not what it looks like. I swear. It was just a moment of weakness. An impulse. It meant nothing."

I reached into my purse, pulled out my phone, and hurled it directly at his chest.

The device smacked against his collarbone and clattered onto the glass coffee table. The screen stayed lit, displaying the glaring red banner of the top entertainment news site.

"An impulse?" I asked, stepping fully into the room. "Your live-streamed sex session just hit the number one spot on the global trending list. The whole world is currently discussing how the second daughter of the Bennett family climbed into her older sister's husband's bed. Was broadcasting it an impulse too?"

Nathan's jaw dropped. He stared at the phone, then snapped his gaze toward the sofa. "You started a live stream?"

Olivia didn't look ashamed. She pulled a throw blanket over her chest and lifted her chin. A smug smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

"True love should be public," Olivia declared, smoothing down her messy hair. "We might not be legally married, Charlotte, but our feelings are more real than anyone else's. I wanted everyone to know."

"You wanted everyone to know you're a homewrecker?" I asked.

"I'm not a homewrecker!" she yelled, her face turning red. "You never loved him! You only care about your spreadsheets and board meetings. Nathan needs a real woman. Someone who actually pays attention to him."

I looked at Nathan. "Is that your excuse? I work too hard?"

"She has a point, Charlotte," Nathan said. "You're always at the office. A man has needs."

"You are the Chief Financial Officer," I reminded him, my voice dangerously even. "You are supposed to be at the office with me. Instead, you're here, fulfilling your needs on the sofa I bought."

"Oh, don't make this about money," Nathan scoffed. He actually chuckled, the panic completely vanishing from his eyes. A lazy smirk replaced it. "We can just have the PR team handle the video in the morning. Spin it as a modern love story. A passionate affair. Hell, it might even boost the Bennett Group's stock prices. Any press is good press, right?"

My nails dug into my palms. "My company?"

"Our company, honey," he corrected, flashing his perfect teeth. "We're married. What's yours is mine."

"It is the Bennett family's company," I shot back, my tone turning to ice. "I built it up from nothing after Dad died. If it crashes tomorrow because of your disgusting scandal, is your little mistress going to eat dirt? Or will you expect me to pay for her designer bags while she screws you in my living room?"

"Don't talk to me like that!" Olivia shrieked. "Nathan loves me! He's going to take over the company anyway. Mom said so!"

I froze. "Mom said what?"

Before Olivia could elaborate, the sharp ringtone of my second phone pierced the room.

I pulled it from my pocket. *Mother*.

I swiped to answer and put it on speaker.

"Charlotte Bennett!" Margaret's voice blasted through the speaker, shrill and furious. "What is wrong with you? Why haven't you handled this PR disaster yet? My phone has been ringing off the hook for twenty minutes!"

I stared at the two cheaters in front of me. "Handle it? You want me to handle the fact that my husband and my sister are currently half-naked in my living room?"

"You are the CEO!" Margaret yelled. "It is your job to protect the family image. Issue a statement. Say it was a deepfake. Say it was a misunderstanding. Do something!"

"A misunderstanding?" I asked. "Should I apologize to them, Mother? Should I draft a public apology for interrupting their fucking?"

Nathan winced at the curse. Olivia just smirked wider.

"Don't use that tone with me," Margaret snapped. "Men make mistakes, Charlotte. You know how Nathan gets when he's stressed. And Olivia... well, they truly love each other. You can't fight true love."

I went completely still. The silence stretched for three long seconds.

"Are you telling me to accept this?" I asked, my voice dropping to a whisper.

"I am telling you to step aside for your sister," Margaret said, her tone dripping with entitlement. "She has always been more fragile than you. You are strong. You have the company. Let her have Nathan. It's the right thing to do."

"The right thing to do?" I repeated, gripping the phone so tight my knuckles turned white. "She slept with my husband. She broadcast it to millions of people. And you want me to step aside?"

"Don't be dramatic," Margaret sighed, the sound crackling over the speaker. "Nathan is a good man. He provides a stable image for the board. If you divorce him now, the shareholders will panic. You need to swallow your pride for the sake of the family."

"My pride?" I asked.

"Yes, your pride!" Margaret yelled. "Olivia is crying, I can hear her in the background. Stop bullying your sister. Fix the PR mess, apologize to Nathan for neglecting him, and make this go away. Do you understand me?"

Something inside my chest snapped. Not with a bang, but with a quiet, hollow crack. The mother who was supposed to protect me was actively feeding me to the wolves.

I looked at Nathan, who stood there looking entirely too pleased with himself. I looked at Olivia, clutching the blanket like a victorious queen.

"Fine," I said.

Nathan blinked. "Fine? You'll issue the statement?"

"No," I replied, ending the call with a quick tap of my thumb. I picked my other phone up off the coffee table and shoved it into my purse. "I'm divorcing you."

"Charlotte, wait, let's not be hasty—" Nathan started, taking a step toward me.

"Don't touch me," I warned, holding up a hand. "I am leaving. You can keep the house. You can keep the furniture. And Olivia?"

My sister glared at me. "What?"

"I'm gifting this rotten cucumber to you," I sneered, gesturing up and down at Nathan's half-tucked shirt. "Enjoy him. I hope you two are very happy together."

I turned on my heel and walked out the front door, slamming it shut behind me.

The cool night air hit my face. I walked down the driveway, my mind racing through the immediate steps I needed to take. Freeze the joint accounts. Call my lawyer. Draft a press release firing Nathan from the board of directors.

I reached the end of the street and pulled out my phone to call a cab.

Before I could dial, a sleek black town car pulled up to the curb. The tinted window rolled down, revealing a man sitting in the back seat. The streetlights caught the sharp angles of his jaw and the cold, calculating glint in his dark eyes.

"Get in, Charlotte," he said, his voice a low rumble that sent a shiver down my spine. "We have a lot to discuss about your impending divorce."

I stared at him, my heart skipping a beat. It was the one man in the city I never expected to see.

And the one man Nathan feared more than anything.
