My Husband Betrayed Me, So I Won't Save Him Chapter 1

I had just gotten Isaac Davis' physical examination report when I received a message from Chloe Reed.

Isaac had advanced lung cancer.

What great news.

Overjoyed, I went to donate 10,000 dollars to a charity. As I walked out, my phone vibrated with a message from Chloe.

She proudly sent me a photo of herself and Isaac, both naked and entwined in each other's arms.

Although on any other day, I would have responded with sarcastic remarks, today was different. I was in an unusually good mood. So, I replied to her message generously and happily: [Go right ahead.]

I wasn't sure how Chloe reacted to my response. I scrolled through our chat history. Every time Isaac secretly met with her, she would take a picture of them together and send it along with mean and gloating words.

[It must be tough being alone, isn't it? Even as a rich woman, your husband chooses to lie next to me.]

[I'm so sorry, but Isaac insisted on accompanying me on your anniversary, I refused, but he said that he wanted to spend time with me instead of seeing your cold face.]

[Audrey, the one who is not loved is the mistress.]

But love was the least of my concerns.

To me, the two greatest blessings in my life were being born into a wealthy family and the fact that my husband would soon die.

However, Chloe would have a hard time.

Sitting in my car, I called my attorney, Quentin Scott.

As expected of someone earning a million-dollar salary, he answered the call promptly, "Ms. Turner."

His address pleased me. Getting straight to the point, I said, "Do you have some time? Let's meet for a cup of coffee."

After a brief silence, Quentin replied, "How about the Velvet Restaurant in 20 minutes? You probably haven't had lunch."

Calculating the distance between my current location and the restaurant, I agreed.

My mother was a hopeless romantic and had left me very little, a lawyer being one of them.

Quentin was a top student from a prestigious law school, undefeated in the court for the past ten years, and now 34 years old. He had become well-known in elite circles.

When I arrived, I greeted him, "Mr. Scott."

Quentin had a strong physique, with a straight back that revealed his shoulder blades through his white shirt. And he said, "Long time no see."

I took a seat across from him, and he glanced at me before chuckling, "Ms. Turner, you seem in a good mood today."

I lightly touched the corner of my lips and realized they were slightly upturned.

Shrugging nonchalantly, I replied, "Perhaps I naturally have a smiling face."

Quentin laughed and signaled the waiter to serve our food.

We were seated in a private room with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a view of the street.

As we waited for our food, I absentmindedly leaned my chin on my hand, looking outside. To my surprise, I spotted a familiar Maserati parked in front of the restaurant. A man and a woman stepped out of the car.

I raised an eyebrow.

What a small world. The same man and woman who appeared in the photo on my phone just moments ago stood before me now.

Chloe looked up and met my gaze. She pouted and nudged Isaac.

Isaac looked over at me, and I decisively closed the curtain.

They were utterly repulsive.

However, it seemed that the two of them intended to cause trouble for me. Two minutes later, there was a knock on the door.

Quentin went to open it, and upon seeing them, he turned back to glance at me.

Isaac's face contorted with anger. "Audrey, how dare you cheat on me!"

Sitting calmly in my chair, legs crossed elegantly, I retorted, "Are you blind? If so, get yourself an artificial eye. Don't assume everyone cheats like you."

Isaac shouted, "Audrey!"

Chloe quickly took hold of Isaac's arm and whispered, "Isaac, don't be petty like Audrey. She's not that kind of person."

Isaac sneered, "What kind of person is she? Arrogant and conceited, not even as docile as you! And now she dares to go out to eat with another man behind my back!"

"Stop." I raised my hand to stop him. "Who are you to judge me? Do you think you know me well? You expect me to be docile? Why don't you get a pet instead? Oh, wait, I'm sorry. You already have one.

"As for going out to eat with a man behind your back... Isaac, open your eyes and see clearly. Besides, this is not ancient times, and you are not the king. You can't tell me what to do!"

Isaac was about to rush over but was stopped by Quentin.

Isaac snorted, "Are you protecting her? What do you see in her? She's just a plaything that I..."

"Mr. Davis, please mind your language," Quentin interjected, his face growing stern and serious, which seemed to unsettle Isaac.

Chloe chimed in, "Isaac didn't say anything wrong. Audrey is just a plaything that Isaac..."

I stood up and slapped Chloe across the face.

The force behind the slap made my palm tingle with heat. Squinting at the stunned Chloe, I spoke coldly, "Look at yourself before judging others. Do you think I'm praising you by calling you a pet?"

Chloe screamed, "Isaac!"

I turned to Isaac and delivered a slap to his face as well. Raising an eyebrow, I said, "The Turner Group is still under my name. I suggest you carefully consider your actions."

Isaac glared at me viciously. Perhaps the allure of the Turner Group was too strong for him. He had to endure this.

Lifting my chin, I declared, "If the two of you leave now, I might consider what you said a few days ago."

Isaac was stunned momentarily before asking in disbelief, "Are you serious?"

With a sneer, I replied, "Believe what you like. But if you stay here another second, I can change my mind at any time."

Isaac remained silent. Chloe tugged at Isaac's sleeve and said in grievance, "Isaac!"

Finally, with a frown, Isaac held Chloe's wrist and said, "Chloe, let's leave now."

Chloe was shocked and uttered, "Isaac!"

Isaac said firmly, "Be good!"

Seeing Chloe's aggrieved look, he added in a soft voice, "Be good. Haven't you always wanted that bag? I'll order it for you when we get back."

Chloe understood what was best for her. She pressed her lips together, softly punched Isaac, and snorted.

How disgusting.
