My Ex-mate Regrets Chapter 1

Nicole pov

My mother was in the advanced stage of gastric cancer, and her biggest wish before she passed away was to see me and Bradley, my mate, complete our mating ceremony under the full moon.

Despite his initial reluctance, Bradley eventually agreed to marry me after my persistent pleas. However, on the night of the full moon, he disappeared, leaving me devastated. That same night, my mother passed away with regret in her heart, unable to see her only child’s wedding.

I had called Bradley endlessly, praying it would at Least pick up. Even though he doesn’t marry me, all my mom needed was his assurance that he would be there and take care of me when she’s no more.

Till my mom took her last breath, Bradley never picked any of my calls or even made an attempt to message me. A part of me was worried, thinking something had happened to him. I can’t lose my mom and my mate on the same day. I fell asleep with my phone in my hand, in hopes Bradley would call back soon.

The next day, his childhood sweetheart Qiana posted a photo of the two of them, standing under the full moon on Instagram with the caption, "Imposing won't bring happiness, in his heart, I am the only one." My wolf roared silently at the post.

The same mate I had been waiting for, my mate. He was under the full moon with another she wolf through the night, and here I was waiting and dying of worry while he was out with someone else. My heart clenched in pain as my wolf roared in anger at the sight of her mate spending the full moon night with someone else.

My relatives and friends tried to comfort me as I wiped my tears and commented, "Congratulations, a bitch and an asshole, may you live forever!" I didn't cry or make a fuss; I silently handled my mother's funeral alone, hoping she forgives me and for the moon goddess to grant her a better daughter in her next life.

I wasn't surprised that Bradley left me for Qiana on the night of our mating ceremony. After five years of being together, Qiana had the power to take him away from me with just one phone call. All she needed to do was call and my mate was already running to her.

And as usual, he would come home with various excuses, saying she hurt herself or she was too scared to stay alone

So many more unreasonable excuses but this time, I don’t even want to know what happened.

After finishing my mother's funeral, I returned home.

He was not at home again, and I had no desire to see him either. Surprisingly, as soon as I finished packing my bags to leave, Qiana entered with Bradley, her hand wrapped around his arm. It took everything in me to calm my wolf down.

He was momentarily taken aback upon seeing me, then his gaze shifted to the suitcase in my hand, and he unconsciously furrowed his brow. "Nicole, what are you doing?".

His tone made it seem like I was being unreasonable.

Qiana smiled innocently at me but held onto Bradley tightly, as if asserting her dominance. Showing me how much control she has over my own mate!

"Nicole, I'm sorry. I cut my hand, and Bradley came to take care of me. I didn't know it was your mating day ceremony."

I noticed a small Band-Aid on her left index finger.

So, this was why Bradley left me and didn't attend the mating ceremony? I felt foolish. In his eyes, my mother and I were less important than Qiana's finger. Even if he had taken care of her, he could have at least tried to reach out to me but no! He had to stay with her for two days taking care of her finger.

"Bradley, Let’s break up."

The love I had for him vanished the moment my mother died in my arms. It’s a good thing we never got to complete our mating bond, or else I would have lost my wolf due to being rejected.

But instead Bradley thought I was jealous of Qiana.

“Nicole, can you be more sensible? There would always be a full moon, we could have the mating ceremony at any time, but Qiana was injured, I couldn't just ignore it."

Could I be more sensible? This was Bradley's most frequent request. But what was sensible in this situation? That she cut her left index finger? Or the fact my mother died without me fulfilling her last wish?

Because Bradley always claimed Qiana was like a sister to him, I allowed a third person to intrude on our relationship. I allowed him to carry medicine for Qiana, to rush to another woman without hesitation when I needed him most, to let her occupy half of his heart.

But my sensibility only led to more pain. I have had enough of this life. I looked at Bradley coldly. "You can do whatever you want in the future; I don’t care anymore ."

After saying that, I grabbed my luggage and walked past him. Finally realizing something was wrong, Bradley tried to stop me. "Was your mom unhappy with what happened that day? I can explain it to her."

I felt absurd. It had been two days; if he had cared even a little and asked me once, how my mom was, he wouldn't have said such foolish things.

I pushed his hand away. "There's no need!"

I had always been cautious, gentle, and accommodating with Bradley, never as indifferent as I was now. My wolf and I would submit to any of his commands.

Bradley stared at my retreating figure, momentarily stunned. When he tried to follow me, Qiana stopped him.

"Bradley, this isn't your fault. If her mother hadn't faked being sick, you wouldn't have been pressured into marrying her." Something inside me snapped.

Before I knew it, my hand had collided with Qiana's face.
