My Boyfriend's Wedding Day, My Death Day Chapter 1

In the final months of my life, I received a wedding invitation from the man I had loved for six years.

I sat in the hospital room, staring at the bright red invitation, while watching a video on my phone of him proposing to his new girlfriend. Someone had recorded it—their joyful embrace, thousands of online well-wishers congratulating them. I realized I had finally become a thing of the past, completely erased from his life.

And their wedding day... it just so happened to fall on the anniversary of my death.

——

I walked slowly down the hospital corridor, wearing my patient gown.

I knew my time was almost up.

One day, a strange system suddenly appeared in my mind. It told me I was just a dispensable, insignificant side character and that my boyfriend, Caius, was actually the male lead in a novel. He was destined to live a happy life with the true heroine, Poppy.

Soon after, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and just like that, Caius forgot me overnight. Poppy took over my identity.

From that point on, she became the girl who had been with Caius for five years. I watched them from afar, wanting to go up to Caius and explain, to tell him that, I, was his girlfriend, the one he had loved for all those years. But my body was frozen in place. I could only stand there, helpless, as Caius lovingly wrapped his arms around Poppy, watching as she stood on tiptoe to kiss his cheek.

Later, the system informed me that my part in the story was coming to an end. That’s when I started feeling increasingly exhausted, too weak to even get out of bed.

But today, I felt a rare burst of energy. The nurse who cared for me helped me outside for a walk.

“Ace, you’re so slow!”

“Sorry, I went out to get you a drink.”

That familiar voice reached me and my steps froze. Once, that voice had whispered countless declarations of love to me, made endless promises.

With great effort, I lifted my head.

Not far away, Poppy was clinging to Caius. One of Caius’s hands rested behind her, his face glowing with affection as he smiled at her, his eyes filled with love.

He wrapped Poppy in his arms, the gesture so intimate, so perfectly suited.

Poppy was petite and Caius could practically envelop her with just one arm. I used to love that feeling—when Caius would hold me like that. He always said that holding me this way made him feel like he could protect me, that he could keep me by his side forever. I never imagined that one day, his embrace would belong to someone else.

“I got you your favorite—pineapple juice.”

Poppy’s smile froze. She hesitated, then awkwardly said, “Ace, I’m allergic to pineapple…”

Caius frowned. “That’s impossible. You love pineapple juice. I couldn’t have gotten that wrong.”

He spoke with such certainty that my eyes immediately filled with tears.

It was me who loved pineapple juice.

That’s why, no matter where we were, he always managed to find fresh pineapple juice for me.

“Because you love it. As long as you love it, I’ll always find a way to get it for you,” he had once said, smiling sweetly, his eyes full of me.

Poppy took the cup of pineapple juice and casually tossed it into the trash. Caius’s fingers twitched slightly, but he didn’t stop her. He just watched her, his expression uncharacteristically downcast. “Sorry, I’ve been mixing up your preferences a lot lately.”

"It's okay, I know Ace loves me. You didn’t get it wrong—my tastes have just changed," Poppy said as she leaned into Caius, linking her arm with his. "After we’re married, I’ll slowly tell you all my new preferences. You better remember them well."

"Of course." Caius nodded with a smile. "I’ll never forget."

He took Poppy’s hand and pressed a solemn kiss to the back of it. His eyes were filled with nothing but love for her, his affection so deep it was almost overflowing. At that moment, my tears finally fell uncontrollably.

I realized he had forgotten everything about us. He didn’t remember that there was once a girl named Tiara who had loved him deeply.

Poppy had completely taken my place.

They were about to walk down the aisle together.

Caius was in love with the story’s heroine, Poppy.

And Tiara Blight was just a forgettable supporting character, easily cast aside.

Through my tear-filled eyes, I met their gaze.
