My Alpha Killed Our Pup Chapter 1

At 2:15 on a Thursday afternoon, my hand touched the brass latch of the eastern-ridge cabin door, and the mate bond inside my ribs went ice-cold.

The sensation was like a door slamming shut in an empty room. Beneath Dawson’s familiar scent of pine, a thick, sweet layer of wild jasmine coated the air. I pushed the door open.

Ellie sat in the wide armchair by the hearth, her stomach rounding noticeably beneath a loose linen shirt. Resting against her collarbone was the Thornveil crested silver necklace—a heirloom passed from Alpha to Luna.

She didn’t startle. She didn’t try to cover herself. She simply stroked her belly, her mouth curved in a bored smirk.

"You shouldn't be wandering out here, Valerie," she said softly. "It isn't good for your nerves."

My wolf remained locked beneath five years of heavy, dull fog, but my blood surged with a freezing, razor-sharp clarity. I didn't say a word to her. I turned on my heel and walked straight to the pack house.

Ten minutes later, I threw open the double doors of the war room.

Alpha Dawson stood over a tactical map with his Beta, Rowan, and the Gamma. He looked up, his jaw set in irritation rather than guilt.

"She is wearing my pack silver, Dawson," I said, my voice steady, cutting through the silence. "And she is carrying your child on our territory."

Dawson didn’t flinch. He didn’t offer an excuse. Instead, his pupils blew wide, and his Alpha aura crashed down across the room like lead.

*"Kneel,"* he commanded, his voice vibrating with absolute Alpha tone.

The command slammed into my marrow. My knees buckled and cracked against the hardwood floor against my will. Rowan instantly cast his gaze down at the floorboards, refusing to meet my eyes. The Gamma stared blankly at the wall.

Even with my legs pinned, my chin stayed up. I locked my eyes onto Dawson’s face.

"Ellie will be introduced as my chosen Luna at the Pack Banquet on Saturday," Dawson said, stepping closer. "She comes from Silverfang blood, Valerie. She brings an army. You bring nothing. Be grateful I let you keep a room here."

He turned back to the map. The command released my limbs, but the poison of his words remained.

I didn’t sleep. Late that night, I pushed open the door to the Luna suite—my bedroom—and stopped dead.

Ellie was laughing into Dawson’s bare shoulder, both of them tangled in my sheets.

The last thread of my five-year restraint snapped. I didn't cry. I lunged forward, my fingers curling like claws as I grabbed Dawson’s arm and ripped him back. He snarled, his grip catching my wrist like a vice, twisting until the bone groaned.

*"Submit. Be still,"* he roared directly into my face, unleashing his full Alpha command.

My entire nervous system locked instantly. My limbs went paralyzed, my throat clamped shut, suffocating every breath and reflex. Dawson shoved me hard toward the open doorway.

I hit the top step and tumbled.

Without the ability to curl or brace, my spine and hips smashed into every edge of the concrete staircase. I crashed onto the cold flagstones of the entrance hall. A searing, ripping agony tore through my lower abdomen, burning like acid.

Warm, dark blood flooded out between my thighs, pooling beneath my hips. My eight-week pup—a quiet heartbeat I had discovered only two days ago and never had the chance to name—slipped away onto the stone floor.

At the top of the stairs, Ellie clung to Dawson, weeping theatrical, delicate tears. Dawson didn't spare me a single glance. He lifted Ellie into his arms, walked down the stairs, stepped directly over my bleeding body, and walked out the front door.

Hours passed before hands touched me.

"Valerie. Hold on, child."

The elderly pack healer worked in total silence, cleaning the blood and binding my fractured ribs. She asked no questions. When the bleeding finally stopped, she walked to her worktable, unlocked the heavy bottom drawer, and pulled out a worn black leather ledger.

She dropped it onto my chest.

"Five years," the healer whispered, her eyes dark with fierce resolve. "Dates, times, and exact measurements of wolfsbane Dawson ordered me to slip into your morning tea. He told me it was medicine. It was suppression. Take it. Your time to strike is now."

I gripped the heavy book with bloodstained fingers.

Around three in the morning, alone in the dark infirmary, a deep tremor cracked through the chemical fog in my mind. A voice—ancient, massive, and low as thunder—rumbled through my bones:

*'I am here. I have always been here.'*

A golden warmth flickered inside my chest. In that instant, I finally understood the invisible hum I had carried for years: the border shield protecting Thornveil was mine. Dawson had stolen it, harvested it, and called it his own.

I closed my eyes, found the glowing tether anchoring Thornveil’s perimeter, and severed it.

Across the territory, the magical boundary shattered like glass.

Seconds later, the red border sirens shrieked through the night air. Outside my window, Dawson’s frantic roar echoed through the courtyard:

"The northern barrier is down! Every warrior, to the front line now!"
