My Alpha Drugged Me to Hide His True Mate Chapter 1

The bond broke at 10:14 on a Tuesday morning.

I know because I was staring at the clock on the Registry office wall when the clerk's face went pale. She'd just run the verification scan across my neck—a routine procedure for Luna certification updates. The scanner beeped once. Then it beeped again, a different pitch. Wrong.

"Mrs. Gray," she said quietly, her eyes fixed on her screen. "I need you to stay calm."

I pressed my hand to my belly. Five months. The pup kicked against my palm like he could sense something shifting. "What's wrong?"

She turned the monitor toward me. The bond signature field was blank. Completely blank. Where the divine marker should have glowed—the Moon Goddess's sacred seal—there was nothing but a chemical composition readout. Wolfsbane. Silver nitrate. Heat application.

My mark wasn't a mark. It was a brand.

"There's... there's another issue." The clerk's voice dropped. "Lucian Gray's registered Luna is listed as Gianna Williams. Marked and bonded four years ago. Two pups on record."

The room tilted. I gripped the edge of her desk.

Gianna. His foster sister. The woman who made my tea every morning with that thin, careful smile.

I reached up and touched my neck. The spot I'd touched a thousand times, believing it sacred. For the first time in three years, it burned.

"I need a copy of this," I heard myself say. My voice sounded distant. Steady. "The full scan report and the registration records."

The clerk hesitated, then nodded. The printer whirred.

I drove back to Shadowvale with the documents folded in my bag and my hands locked on the wheel. My mind was cycling through every memory, rewriting it. The way Lucian never let me attend regional Luna gatherings. The way Gianna always prepared my meals personally, never letting anyone else in the kitchen. The way I'd felt tired for three years straight, my wolf a dim presence I'd assumed was just... me.

I parked in the pack house driveway and sat there for a long moment, staring at the house I'd called home. The house where I'd been kept.

When I walked inside, Gianna was in the kitchen. She looked up with that same smile, a teacup already in her hand. "You're back! I made your favorite."

I looked at the cup. At the faint shimmer of oil on the surface. At her hand, steady and practiced.

"Thank you," I said softly. I took the cup.

I carried it upstairs to my room, closed the door, and poured it down the bathroom sink. The liquid left a faint chemical residue on the porcelain. I ran the water until it was gone.

Then I opened my bag and pulled out the Registry report. I smoothed it flat on the desk and began to write.

*Date: Tuesday, October 10th. Time: 10:14 AM. Location: Regional Pack Registry, Clerk ID #4728. Bond verification scan result: No divine signature detected. Chemical analysis: Wolfsbane base, silver nitrate binding agent, heat application consistent with branding. Registered Luna for Lucian Gray: Gianna Williams, marked four years prior, two pups on record.*

My hand was shaking by the last line. I set the pen down and pressed my palms flat against the desk.

Something stirred inside me. Not the pup—something deeper. A low hum beneath my ribs, like a voice I'd never heard trying to surface through deep water.

I closed my eyes and let it rise.

That night, Lucian hosted the Pack Banquet. It was a formal event—the entire Shadowvale Pack gathered in the great hall, long tables set with candles and silver. I dressed carefully, the way I always did. The way a Luna should.

Lucian stood at the head of the room in his Alpha formal wear, Gianna beside him in a gown I'd never seen her wear before. She looked radiant. Confident. Like she'd been waiting for this moment.

I took my seat at the far end of the table. No one met my eyes.

Lucian raised his glass. The hall fell silent.

"Tonight," he said, his voice carrying easily across the room, "I want to set something right. For too long, this pack has operated under a... misunderstanding."

My fingers tightened on my fork.

"Gianna Williams is my true mate. My Luna. Marked by the Moon Goddess herself." He looked down the table at me. "Autumn was a placeholder. A convenience. An Omega breeder I kept because she served a purpose."

The candles flickered. No one spoke.

"Autumn." His voice sharpened. "Come here."

I didn't move.

"Kneel before your Luna," he said. "Acknowledge her station."

The room was so quiet I could hear my own heartbeat.

"No," I said.

Lucian's eyes flashed. The Alpha tone slammed into me like a physical wall—a command that bypassed thought and struck directly at the wolf inside. My body moved without permission, muscles locking, knees bending.

But as I started to sink—

Something cracked.

It felt like ice breaking under pressure, a seismic shift deep inside my chest. A pulse of silver light flickered across my skin. The candles guttered. Every wolf in the hall went rigid.

Lucian's Alpha tone faltered. Just for a second. His wolf flinched inside him—I saw it in his eyes, the momentary confusion, the instinctive recoil from something it recognized as *wrong*.

My knees hit the floor. The hall was utterly silent.

I looked up at Lucian. At Gianna beside him, her smile frozen.

Then I stood. Slowly. My legs shook, but I didn't fall.

I walked toward the door. No one stopped me. No one spoke.

I didn't look back.

In my room, I pulled the Registry report from its hiding place and added a new entry to my log.

*Date: Tuesday, October 10th. Time: 8:47 PM. Event: Public humiliation and forced submission attempt via Alpha tone. Witness count: 47 pack members. Physical response: Partial resistance. Unknown energy discharge.*

I pressed my hand to my belly. The pup was quiet now.

But inside me, beneath the wolfsbane fog, something else was waking up.

And it was angry.
