Marrying the Young Master, She Goes on Top Chapter 1

He promised me the most magnificent wedding.

After waiting for him for three years with the intention of marrying him, he eventually achieved a great triumph on the front line and returned.

However, he held another woman in his arms tenderly.

"She saved my life, and I owe it to her. I'll marry her. If you are willing, you can move to the General Castle, but I can't acknowledge you. If not, never enter the General Castle in this lifetime."

On the day of his wedding, I took the initiative to marry the Duke's son, who was afflicted with tuberculosis. Surprisingly, my life reached its pinnacle.

On December 8th, the army made a triumphant return to Kingburgh.

Edward Roberts earned the title of General Edward due to his exceptional military achievements, including infiltrating the enemy camp alone and successfully capturing the enemy leader's head.

The city gate was flooded with immense crowds of people, all eager to meet this talented young man.

General Edward, donned in his military uniform, proudly rode atop a horse with his head held high. The setting sun cast a radiant glow upon his gleaming bronze armor.

I gazed at the dashing man before me, filled with admiration.

Was this the young man on the horse whom I had been infatuated with?

The last time I saw him was when I sent him off to war.

That year, I was 17, and he was 18.

"You promised to marry me next year. Now that you're leaving, who am I supposed to marry?" I cried out to Edward, pounding my fists against his back.

Edward gently wiped the tears from my face.

"Oh, silly, I will marry you when I win the battle and make remarkable contributions. Then, you will be my wife. But don't be a crybaby. How can you manage the General Castle if you are too emotional?" Edward reassured me playfully.

Blushing, I buried my head in Edward's thin chest.

"But I don't want to wait so long. I'm scared," I sobbed.

"I understand your concern. I promise you that I will protect myself. Look, I have the lucky charm you made for me. With this by my side, I will definitely return victorious and give you the most splendid wedding."

Edward hung the lucky charm I had given him around his neck.

I said, "You can't take off the lucky charm whatsoever."

"I will wear it even in death," he promised.

As the victorious army marched into the city, I hurriedly walked to the front of the crowd.

As I opened my mouth to call out Edward's name, I saw him embracing a woman in his arms.

The woman wore white attire, had long hair cascading down her back, and possessed a stunningly beautiful face.

Nestling in Edward's arms, she pointed at the street with curiosity and asked questions, appearing as if it was her first visit to Kingburgh.

Edward responded patiently, holding the reins with one hand while keeping the woman securely in his embrace. With his other hand, he tenderly tucked the woman's wind-blown hair behind her ears, his eyes brimming with doting tenderness.

I could not help but recall that he had once treated me with the same tenderness and affection.

A sensation of something crumbling inside me engulfed my being, causing a deep ache in my heart.

As everything before my eyes went dark, I passed out.

When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the guest room of the General Castle, seeing Edward once again.

Seated at the table, Edward noticed my awakening but remained in his place. He simply said, "You're awake."

I gazed at him, my lips slightly parting. A mix of excitement and sorrow overwhelmed me, and before I could utter a word, tears streamed down my face.

Edward frowned, took the handkerchief, and sat down beside the bed.

"Still such a crybaby," he remarked.

I threw myself into his arms. However, he gently pushed me away.

"The doctor said that you are weak and can't get emotional. You should have a good rest. I'll arrange for someone to take you back later," he said.

"I have waited for you for three long years, and now that we finally meet again, you're going to send me away?"

Leaning weakly against the edge of the bed, I looked at the man in disbelief who had promised to marry me.

Edward stood up and turned his back towards me.
