If your loved one only had one day left to live, what would you do?

Moms will do anything for their child. They may be one person, but they can be Santa at Christmas, the tooth fairy sometimes, and genie-wannabes most of the time.

Anything and everything for their child, as I said.

All my son Andy wanted for his last birthday was a trip to Disneyland.

"Just the three of us," he said.

But getting Kyle, my husband, to agree was like pulling teeth. He never really cared, but what could I do? It was my son's wish, so I begged him nonstop until he finally gave in.

The night before we were supposed to leave, Kyle disappeared.

No text, no notice... nothing.

So, Andy never got his Disneyland trip. His wish died with him, and I had to deal with the funeral all by myself.

While I was mourning, I saw a photo on my sister's Instagram. There was Kyle, looking all happy. The caption even read: "I said I wanted to attend this concert, and he drove me thousands of miles to watch it!!!"

Was I hurt, though? Not really. Typical Kyle, always there for Aria. We were never his priority.

From the cemetery, I went back to our villa to pack my things. It was supposed to be our home, but it felt more like Andy's and mine.

Funny, because Kyle's my husband, but he was hardly ever there.

Oh well.

Maybe that's what I get for marrying someone out of obligation.

As I dragged my suitcase downstairs, I bumped into Kyle, carrying Aria into the house. He didn't even look at me as he walked by.

This was my life now—totally invisible whenever my sister's around.

I was going to do the same when Kyle suddenly stopped and looked at me.

Now, that's new...

"Blair, where do you think you're going with that luggage? Is this another dramatic stunt?" he asked, his voice flat.

Aria, hanging on to Kyle, looked at me sweetly. "Sis, don't get the wrong idea, okay? I twisted my ankle, so Kyle brought me here since it's close by. I'll leave once he treats me. You don't mind, do you?"

A twisted ankle?

I watched Kyle settle her on the sofa and fetch an ice pack. How sweet. Look at my husband treating my sister like she was made of glass!

I remembered the time I fell down the stairs at work and broke my leg. The doctor needed a family member's signature for surgery, so I called Kyle.

But guess what his response was?

"You won't die with a broken leg, Blair. Just ask for pain meds and go home. Why bother me?"
