Let Love Die in the Past Chapter 1

My husband's laboratory suddenly caught fire.

To save him, I inhaled a large amount of toxic gas and developed narcolepsy.

The doctor determined that I would live in dreams for the rest of my life.

Asher resolutely quit his job to take care of me wholeheartedly.

He declared, "As long as Aria is willing to wake up, I will give away all our wealth to thank the heavens."

But when I woke up, the first thing I did was divorce him.

————

When the light hit my eyes, I was still a bit dazed.

After sleeping for three years, I never thought I'd see the day I'd wake up again.

Seeing me regain consciousness, the young nurse's mouth gaped in surprise, "Miss Grey, you're awake?"

She frantically called for the doctor, unable to hide the joy on her face.

"This is wonderful, Miss Grey, you've finally woken up. You have no idea how much Mr. Blakely sacrificed to bring you back."

"He even said he'd give away his entire fortune to thank the heavens if you woke up."

When the attending physician arrived, he excitedly called Asher while checking my vitals.

Confirming I was okay, he seemed even happier than I was.

The call connected, and I heard the voice I'd been longing for day and night for three years.

"Mr. Blakely, your wife is awake!"

Asher didn't respond for a long time. When he finally came to his senses, his voice was hoarse with emotion,

"I'm on my way."

The young nurses' eyes welled up with sympathy. The renowned CEO of the Blakely Family was so moved by his wife's awakening that his voice cracked.

When they turned their gaze back to me, they discovered that I was unusually calm.

Everyone in the hospital knew that Asher loved me more than life itself.

Even when he found out that I might never wake up again, he did hundreds of foolish things just to stay by my side.

Yet this same man who loved me so deeply found a so-called replacement within the first year of taking care of me.

It happened six months after I fell into a coma. Asher no longer seemed as devastated as before.

I thought he had finally come to terms with my condition. Little did I know, it was because of Haisley.

When Haisley whispered in my ear, "Want to bet I can steal Asher away from you effortlessly?" I didn't believe her.

But after that, she started visiting more and more frequently, and Asher began paying her increasing attention.

Until they started being intimate right by my bedside, without any attempt to hide it.

I don't know how Haisley found out that only my body was asleep while my consciousness was awake.

But every time they were intimate, she deliberately made sure I could hear it.

And Asher never refused her advances.

I swallowed the bitterness in my heart.

Now that I've finally woken up, I can finally let Asher go.

After so long, I can see the sunlight again. I gazed greedily at every blade of grass and every tree outside the window.

The young nurses assumed I preferred quiet and didn't want to disturb me, so they left on their own.

I struggled to sit up, my limbs still weak from disuse.

Fortunately, I was light, and after some effort, I managed to stand.

Leaning against the wall, I took one step at a time out of the hospital room.

I couldn't wait another moment to see the world again.

Before I could even make it out, I caught sight of Asher in the distance.

He looked much more mature than he did three years ago.

Seeing me alive and in the flesh, his eyes immediately turned crimson.

Before I knew it, he had me locked tightly in his embrace.

"Aria, please, don't ever leave me again."

Only with me would Asher make such an unreasonable request.

I raised my hand to comfort his trembling body, but lowered it when I caught the scent of women's perfume on his neck.

Asher lifted me into his arms, gently scolding, "You just woke up, you shouldn't stand for too long. Let your husband carry you back."

I nodded numbly, not having spoken a single word the entire time.

Back in the hospital room, Asher thoroughly checked that I had fully recovered before finally putting his mind at ease.

He held my hand, unable to stop kissing it.

"Aria, shall we go home?"

The house was purchased after our marriage, and I've only been there once.

It's been three years. It's not too late to take a look before I leave.

From hospital discharge to returning home, Asher personally handled everything.

He wouldn't trust anyone else with anything related to me.

When we got home, he blindfolded me with a colorful ribbon, saying he had a surprise for me.

But after entering, I saw the house filled with begonias.

"Aria, do you like it? I prepared this surprise just for you," Asher said with a smile.

As I looked at him, my expression gradually darkened.

"Asher, let's get a divorce."
