Chapter 7

"Ms. Jean's assistant didn't understand why she stopped at HR and proceeded. "

"Take the paper to Mr. Greenburg, I'll review it later." You may start tomorrow.

Even though Ada had no professional experience, having experience of witting scripts was enough.

Ada bent slightly. She left the interview happy.

Ada felt happy after leaving the tower.

She now felt hopeful about her future.

Her fortunes improved. She grabbed a taxi to the Woods' home.

Soon, the taxi pulled up in front of the Woods. Ada paid the driver and left. She stepped in gently. BBerry furrowed her eyebrows and said, "Why isn't it Ada?"

Ada grimaced at seeing Berry's diamond jewelry.

Ada once saw it in her mother's jewelry box. But Berry got it.

Berry fiddled with her groomed nails, ignoring Ada. "Marrying a cripple can't be easy, right?" Ada whispered, "Is Alfred here?"

She thanked William for feigning paralysis so she might return.

Would Berry have allowed her daughter marry William if she known he wasn't crippled?

William was gorgeous, talented, and rich. Women desired him. Ada didn't want to spend time with Berry while Alfred wasn't home.

When she approached the door, acar pulled up and stopped.

Alfred hopped out as the driver opened the door. Alfred suspected Ada may ask for Elizebeth's dowry as she stood at the doorway.

He darkened. He interrupted her without waiting.

"Do one thing for me to earn your mother's dowry."

" Ada sighs. You claimed you'd repay everything if I married William Greenburg." Alfred scowled. "Why did I want you to marry Greenburg? Because it helps the Woods' social and commercial position!"

"You're too naive!" Alfred sneered.

"I'm your dad.Is this how you want to talk to me?"

Ada was devastated. He lied.

" If you want your mother's dowry, tell William to grant me Mountain Hill's development rights. "

I'll return everything your mother brought during our marriage, including the violin she bought you for your birthday. "

William had Alfred's land...

If she intended to exploit Alfred's vulnerability, she had to work on her 'newlywed spouse' But how?

Although officially married, they were more like strangers or worse. Ada returned home without a solution.

"Didn't you say I could start tomorrow?" Ada worried.

"We can't employ you. You don't pass the inverview." The caller hung up instantly.

Ada viewed her phone. She was temporarily absent-minded.

Nighttime.

William went straight to his room after arriving home.

Ada learned from Rose in the afternoon about William's cuisine preferences and was ready to cook for him.

Rose grinned, "That's what a wife should do."

Ada smiled and bowed. She wouldn't flatter him if she wasn't at his mercy.

Rose sighed, "The madam died long ago, and the master remarried."

Ada listened without interrupting.

"Don't worry. You're his wife." Rose comforted her by patting her sshoulders.

Although they were married, it never felt that way.

"Rose, where are the coffee beans? I'll make him coffee. "Rose felt Ada was considerate, so she gave her coffee beans and said, "Don't add sugar or milk." Young master dislikes sweets.

Ada nodded and quickly prepared coffee.

She put some into a dainty coffee cup and carried it herself.

William was impatiently asking over the phone,

"What's up with HR?" Is it hard to find a script writer?I'll give the HR manager one day. If he can't employ in a day, tell him to go!"

Doorbell rang. The knocking halted William's rage.

He yelled sharply, "Come in!"

Ada's stomach cramped.

Ada grinned and said, "I prepared you some coffee." William looked at her face then her coffee cup.

He squinted. She avoided him like the plague in the morning, but now she's bringing him coffee? William sat down after replacing his phone. He was curious what she was doing.

Ada brought him coffee.

William sat still. His body relaxed till he was slouched against his chair.

Ada said, "Try it." William squinted and realized something.

"Are you charming me because you want to inquire about that property in Mountain Hill?"

Ada was stunned. She didn't believe he'd understand that quickly.

William seized Ada'chin and said, "Is this why the Wood family insists you marry me, a cripple?" Ada's chin hurt from his strong fingertips.

William tossed her.

Ada lost her footing and spilled her coffee.

Black liquid flowed from the cup and soaked his papers.

At this, William's face clouded.

Ada didn't expect this as she hastily wiped the coffee dry. William ripped the blankets off and yelled, "Get out! Didn't you hear?"

Ada left. "These too!" William grumbled.

Ada got the cup outdoors. William went to bed after supper.

Ada sighed. He was a jerk. It was difficult to get near to him, much alone reclaim the land from Alfred.

Ada bathed and then slept. She struggled, unable to sleep.

She got out of bed. She felt bad about spilling coffee on his papers in the afternoon.

She tiptoed into his study to apologize.

She turned on the lights and noticed soggy sheets on the table. It was an outline of a script, she awed at the inspiration and immediately got a pen and began to write, thoughts flows.

She wrote 10 papers in one breath.

She stopped writing and massaged her weary wrists. After arranging the papers, she went to bed. Ada was sleeping while William ate breakfast the following morning. She overslept yesterday night. Due of her pregnancy, she slept in today. William grimaced,

"She's still sleeping?" Rose nodded.

"Young master, I know you don't like Miss Wood, but the madam blessed your marriage when she was alive. She's considerate, too. Last night, she cooked your favorite foods after asking about them. She made you coffee."

Ada flattered him to get Mountain Hill property for the Woods.

This amused William. "Don't be fooled by her looks," he told Rose.

He returned the coffee-stained paperwork to the corporation from his study.

He needed a fresh copy. Upon entering the study, he knew someone had been there.

Rose and Mathew were the only ones allowed in his study. Even Jean was new.

Intruder? She snuck inside his study?

Chapter 8

He approached his desk and discovered scribbled paperwork. It was a script.

He attentively read it. The plot was elegant. He frowned at the notion that she was writing it.

William was skeptical. As he was replacing the papers and going to seek for the lady, a note dropped out.

I apologize for invading your study without permission.

My carelessness soaked your papers. I've attempted to recover your papers. Here's my apology for soaking your papers.

His fury over her selfishly entering his study had subsided.

The nice story made him intrigued about the

William set the note down and grabbed two papers.

He was leaving for work. Ada awoke at midday.

Rose made her meals.

Ada stopped wasting her life after failing to land that job. She needs a steady job. She can't get her mother's belongings for now.

Her mother needed money, even though she didn't spend much here.

She left after eating. she struggled to find a good job. Ada figured she could only look for a low-paying job after repeated rejections.

A high-end bar was hiring waitstaff. This job required no education. She can do this if she's quick-witted and reactive.

Ada didn't finish university, but she had attended.

She's witty. Chef hired her. She can start tomorrow.

She finally found work. Ada was relieved.

She left the bar and walked outside.

Under the sun, Ada's shadow was infinite. She was out alone.

"Ada" Ada turned to find the voice.

She saw Jonson from across the street.

"Jonson"

"Why are you still here?" Ada asked.

"I'm here for more work," he said, examining Ada.

Ada remembered a hospital scene.

good the pay was. In this country, he'd rather forget many people and things.

Ada admired the sky. Gradually, night fell. Two months had passed. She felt helpless and uncertain.

Reclaiming what was hers wasn't easy.

Jonson brushed her messy hair behind her ear and asked, "Any problems?"

Ada shook her head when she remembered when he helped her.

He knew what she was thinking, despite their short time together. She didn't want to rely on anyone.

"You're stubborn".

Ada pouted after hearing that. She didn't refuse help. She feared she couldn't repay hisr kindness.

"It's getting dark, Dr. Jonson, are you leaving?"

"Stop calling me Dr. Jonson."

"Call me by my name or Brother," he said.

"Are you my brother?"

"Yes." Jonson embraced her.

"Call me your brother," he said meekly.

" Ms. Wood?" William ignored pedestrians while driving. He turned after Jean reminded him...

When she came to herself, she struggled to wiggle away from his hold.

From William's viewpoint, they were like a couple who were wooing each other.

His brows couldn't help but frown.

Jean added lightly, "I didn't think that she truly had a boyfriend."

William immediately felt quite restless.

He stomped on the pedal hard and the car zoomed away.

Jean pursed her lips and questioned, "Are you furious about that?"

William snickered coldly, "Why should I be angry?"

She was now pregnant, thus it was reasonable that she was intimate with other males also!

He was merely being irritated for no reason after really watching her with other males!

Soon, the car halted in front of Jean's apartment.

She didn't get out of thecar quickly as she glanced wistfully at William,

"don't you want to come to my apartment for a while?"

As though she was terrified of being rejected, Jean said,

"William, I have prepared your favourite food-"

"Jean."

William interrupted her. He was perplexed by his irritation at the time.

He touched her hair and added, "I'tm not going to drop by today. Rest earlier."

"But." Jean didn't continue her remark but decided to alight his car meekly,

He took shorter time than typical to come home.

By the time he entered his house, Ada hadn't come home yet.

He unzipped his shirt while asking, "What time did she go out?"

"She went out at noon." Rose accepted his coat and said,

"Do you want to eat supper now?"

"Later." He didn't have any hunger at the time.

The two buttons next to his neck had fallen off. He didn't feel crushed by his shirt anymore,. It was a pretty bizarre sensation.

He pushed open the door to his study. Ada's memo was still laying on the table

. He snatched it up and let out a frigid chuckle,

"you're making yourself appearing really miserable in front of me, while behind my back, you are messing about with other guys. Ada , you definitely are different!"

He crumpled the document angrily after saying that.

Ada hailed a cab back home. Initially, Jonson had offered to bring her home, but she didn't want him to know about her link to William. Therefore, she had rejected him. There was just Rose at home, so Ada guessed that William hadn't returned yet.

Rose questioned her, "Are you thrilled about anything recently?"

Ada generated a grin, "I feel more at peace without him about here."

Rose didn't know how to answer her.

"Do you imply that I shouldn't be here?" Suddenly, his tall and thin form came at the entrance of his study.

He was resting against the hinge casually, and his tone sounded indifferent and sarcastic at the same time.

Ada swung around stiff, and her eyes rested on that guy who was resting on the door hinge.

He had a somber look on his face. Why was he at home at that moment?

There wasn't any trace of his arriving home before this, so Ada believed that he was not home yet. That was why she could speak so lightly.

"I." Ada attempted to explain, but William pushed by her and walked for the dining room.

He was asking Rose to serve the dinner. Ada carefully slid into her place beside the dinner table. She tried to speak for herself multiple times, but nothing came out of her lips.

William never once cast a look in her her throughout the entire session.

"Come into the study with me."

Ada instantly laid down her chopsticks and followed him inside his study area.

William sat down beside his desk and put the stack of her scripts in front of her. He peered at her slightly, "You know how to write a script?"

Ada nodded enthusiastically.

Chapter 9

she had spent eight years of her life there. There were too many silent grief concealed deep within her heart. The truth was, no one could ever comprehend her anguish. Only she knew exactly how belittled and awful she was throughout that time. She didn't want to display her frailty in front of just anybody. Writting was her only way to vent out anger.

William couldn't help frowning after hearing that. What was she attempting to hide?

"Come here." He spoke in a hushed voice. Ada paused upon hearing that.

She could never grasp what this guy was thinking at every time, but she had no option but to attend to him.

She gently inched closer towards him.

WWilliam lifted his eyebrows slightly. Ada took over the paper and remarked in a quiet voice, "I have attempted to interview for the script position at your firm. It appeared that they truly wanted me for the position, but later on, for some reason, I was being branded as inappropriate for this job."

William observed her attentively and destroyed her aspirations before she could offer anything, "If you' re thinking of including the Mountain Hill in this, I have to say no. The Wood family couldn't purchase the property for now."

Ada was absolutely going to tackle this matter, but she was going to grab that piece of property for her own instead of letting Alfred possess it. That manner, she could finally get a negotiating chip that permitted her to speak on equal footing with Alfred . Obviously, her suggestion had been rejected even before she could bring it up.

A poor script of coursewouldn't be able to help her use it to buy a piece of land . "You may compensate me with money." Since she couldn't take back her mother's dowry for now, she had to earn extra money so that her mother could live her life peacefully.

In the future, she would have a kid. She needed a lot of money to guarantee their future was a great one.

Ada flicked the pages of the paper gently.

"I will charge one hundred thousand for trial writing. This is a very reasonable offer if you ask me."

William remained to keep mute upon hearing that.

William didn't provide an answer, therefore Ada assumed that William was unwilling to offer her that amount,

"The sum I just said is actually not much, you know. If you think it's a little too expensive, should I. decrease my price?"

"There's no need for it. I' ll pay you for what you have asked."

"Alright then." Ada grabbed the paper and got up,

"I need some tim. I'll finish it in my room and send it back."

"Wait!"

"Yes?"

"I hope you understand," he warned.

William stood up and walked towards her.

He told Ada, "You're still my wife in name, so don't sleep with other men."

He didn't care how they met. He couldn't accept infidelity while they were married.

This was his limit and manhood!

Ada didn't understand him. When did she start dating men?

Didn't you sleep with other ladies here?

"I didn't sleep with other ladies," William's brow furrowed.

Ada froze. She thought Jean slept here yesterday.

William's face became worse every minute.

Ada softened her tone and said, "I'll try to comply. I'll..."

She waved the paperwork to signal her intentions. William stammered a reply, but his voice was angry.

Not Ada, but himself! Why would he tell her? He was nuts.

Ada needed to complete trial scripts quickly since she had a bar job. She wasn't finished by midnight.

Her vitality was dwindling. She took the paperwork to the living room to freshen up.

The mansion was silent then.

William and Rose were likely sleeping.

She put the papers on the table and poured lukewarm water. She set the cup down and sat on the carpet.

William was thirsty so he went downstairs in the middle of the night.

As Ada passed him the materials, he frowned.

When William noticed a cup of water on the table, he instantly drank it.

Ada intended to tell William she was using the cup, but he was already drinking from it.

She couldn't continue. William saw that she was hesitant.

His eyes lingered on her for many seconds before moving to his cup.

Under the light, he spotted lipstick on the cup's edge. His lips nearly brushed the cup.

He used someone else's cup. Ada's response suggests it was her.

Ada remained still, staring at the floor.

Her face burned, nevertheless. They were too unknown to share a cup, therefore she found it too personal.

William licked his lips, which trembled slightly. He didn't know what to do, so he drained the cup at once. He set the cup down and approached her.

"Are you asleep yet?" Ada kept her head down,

"I'm not sleeping yet." William glanced at her before heading upstairs. When he reached the top of the stairs, he recalled she had interviewed at his firm but wasn't chosen.

He returned to his room and called Mathew. Matthew was asleep when the phone rang, so he was irritated.

He snatched the phone with disgust, cursing whomever called him so late at night. Seeing the caller's name erased his fury. "Yes, Mr. Greenburg," he said uneasily.

"Find out why HR declined employing a the script author."

Why would the president contact him for something so silly? His face warped.

Was he intentionally waking him up?

The following morning, Rose saw Ada sleeping on the table.

She suspected it was work-related and sighed, "Don't overwork yourself without sleeping."

She covered Rose with a blanket despite not understanding Ada's condition.

William was descending stairs.

Seeing Rose cover Ada with a blanket, he felt a muted but growing emotion.

He approached her and picked up the papers. She wrote documents flawlessly.

Doesn't she sleep? William glanced at her.

Rose sighed, unsure what to say.

William was eating when Ada woke up.

She massaged her eyes while straining on the table, but her legs were numb.

She had to wait till the sensation subsided before waking up. She washed up and took a bath to revive herself.

Ada came out of her room after getting dressed and handed William the paperwork.

"If you're free, pay me," she said. She feared he wouldn't pay her.

"I don't carry cash," William said after staring at her for two seconds.

" Find me later in the company." He then stood up.
