Her Hermès, My Divorce Chapter 1

Sarah Miller bought another new bag.

This time, it was a classic Hermès Birkin, priced at over seventy thousand dollars.

In just two months, she had already bought five expensive bags.

But her monthly salary was only about three thousand.

When I questioned her, she impatiently said,

“I’ve told you countless times already, these bags are just knockoff designer bags, they’re not worth much at all.”

“Can’t you stop overthinking? You’re a grown man, why are you so petty?”

“Tonight, we’re having a company dinner, I’ll probably be back late. Don’t wait up for me!”

As she slung the bag over her shoulder and was about to head out, I pulled out the Divorce Agreement I had prepared and said calmly,

“Sign this before you go to your dinner.”

Sarah froze when she saw the document.

Then, glaring at me, she snapped,

“David Miller, have you lost your mind?”

“What do you mean by putting this Divorce Agreement in front of me?”

“Just because I bought a few knockoff bags recently, you want to divorce me?”

I looked at her calmly and said,

“It’s not just about the bags. What about your expensive cosmetics?”

“That set of La Mer alone cost enough to cover half a year of our living expenses…”

Before I could finish, Sarah grew even more furious and shouted,

“David, are you just trying to piss me off today?”

“Those expensive cosmetics were company perks! Every female employee got them, so what nonsense are you spouting again?”

A mocking smile tugged at the corner of my lips.

“Your boss sure is generous.”

Sarah grew agitated at my sarcasm.

She ripped the Divorce Agreement into pieces and hurled the shreds in my face.

Fuming, she barked,

“David, this is all because you can’t stand Eric Johnson, isn’t it?”

“You’re just jealous of Eric’s success—you can’t bear to see him doing better than you.”

Eric Johnson was Sarah’s boss—and her first love.

Six months ago, Eric started his own company, hiring mostly female employees.

Two months ago, Sarah applied and got in. The pay wasn’t great, but the perks were generous.

Eric often bought luxury goods to hand out as company benefits, which made Sarah and the other women fiercely loyal to him.

I had questioned the company’s business model more than once, but Sarah always snapped back,

“Stop judging others with such suspicion. Eric’s company is completely legal and compliant. There’s nothing shady about it.”

Sarah even said that by the end of the year, when Eric’s company went public, outstanding employees would receive Pre-IPO Stock Options.

I remained skeptical.

Something about Eric seemed deeply wrong, but Sarah insisted I was only jealous.

In our three years of marriage, Sarah and I had hardly ever fought.

But ever since she joined Eric’s company, arguments had become a regular occurrence.

I had once loved Sarah deeply.

But in these past two months, that love had been steadily eroded by her own hands.

With a heavy sigh, I was just about to speak when a knock sounded at the door.

Eric Johnson had arrived.

Sarah instantly shed the anger and hostility she’d shown me moments ago.

Like a woman freshly in love, she beamed at Eric and said sweetly,

“What are you doing here?”
