He Saved His Mistress's Child Over Ours! Chapter 1

When my four-year-old daughter lay dying in the hospital, I discovered my husband's darkest secret through a simple blood type.

"Mrs. Thorne, Vesper needs immediate blood transfusions. She has a rare blood type—AB negative. Without it, she won't survive the night," the doctor said, removing his glasses.

That's when my husband burst through the doors, his white shirt stained with blood, his mistress at his side.

"Please, someone help!" His voice boomed through the hallway. "My son needs help!"

Son.

The word shattered my world as I watched them wheel in a bleeding boy—their secret child with the same rare blood type that could save my daughter.

"Both children are critical," the doctor announced. "We only have enough blood for one. You have to choose."

My husband didn't even hesitate. "Give it to my son. That's my final answer."

I watched my daughter die through a glass window, her tiny hand reaching for me while monitors screamed their final warning. Across the hall, my husband held his mistress, relief flooding his face as their son's vitals stabilized.

"A son. That's what I wanted," he later spat at me. "Not some weak, sickly daughter you gave me."

Now I know the truth, five years of marriage built on nothing but lies. My mother saw this coming. She gave me an escape route years ago, straight into the arms of a mysterious man.

As I stood in pain, I made a silent promise to my daughter: They will pay for what they did to you. Every last one of them.

Because the most dangerous woman isn't the one who has nothing left to lose, it's the one who has nothing left but revenge.

…..

I burst through the emergency room doors, my heart threatening to explode as I ran alongside the stretcher. Vesper's tiny body convulsed, her lips taking on a bluish tinge that made my world spin.

"Hold on, baby. Please hold on." I clutched her small hand while the medical team rushed us through stark white corridors.

With trembling fingers, I pulled out my phone and dialed Ryker again. Straight to voicemail.

"Ryker, please. It's Vesper. She can't breathe. We're at Mount Sinai. Call me back." My voice cracked as I left the fifth message.

A nurse directed me to wait outside while they stabilized her. I paced the hallway, my heels clicking against the linoleum floor. Each minute stretched into an eternity.

The doctor emerged after what felt like hours. The grim set of his mouth made my knees weak.

"Mrs. Thorne?"

"How is she? When can I take her home?"

He gestured to the chairs lining the wall. "Please, sit."

"I don't want to sit. Just tell me."

"Mrs. Thorne, Vesper's condition has deteriorated significantly. The aplastic anemia has progressed faster than we anticipated. Her bone marrow is failing to produce new blood cells."

The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead as his words pierced through me.

"What are you saying?"

"Without an immediate bone marrow transplant and aggressive treatment..." He paused, removing his glasses. "I'm so sorry, but Vesper has weeks, maybe months."

The world tilted sideways. My phone slipped from my hand, clattering against the floor.

"No. No, there has to be something else. Other treatments. Different hospitals." I grabbed his coat sleeve. "Please."

"We can discuss options, but you need to prepare yourself-"

"She's four years old." My voice came out as a whisper. "She's all I have."

I tried Ryker's number one more time. Voicemail.

Through the window, I watched my daughter's chest rise and fall, tubes and wires surrounding her small frame like a twisted cocoon.

"Mrs. Thorne, there's one more thing." The doctor flipped through his charts. "Vesper needs immediate blood transfusions. She has a rare blood type - AB negative. Without regular transfusions, the bone marrow treatment won't even be possible."

My heart leaped. "My husband - he has the same blood type. He could-"

The sound of doors crashing open cut through my words. A stretcher wheeled past, carrying a small boy covered in blood. My eyes followed the movement, then froze on the man pushing it.

Ryker.

His suit was disheveled, blood staining his white shirt. But it wasn't his appearance that made my blood run cold. It was the woman rushing beside him, her hand on his arm, mascara streaking down her face.

Calypso Reign.

Seven years. Seven years I'd seen her face in society magazines, at charity galas, always at a careful distance. Ryker's ex. The one who got away - or so the whispers went.

Her eyes met mine across the hospital corridor. Recognition flickered across her face, followed by something else. Panic? Guilt?

"Please, someone help!" Ryker's voice boomed through the hallway. "My son needs help!"

Son.

The word hit me like a physical blow. I stared at the boy on the stretcher - dark hair like Ryker's, olive skin like Calypso's.

My phone slipped from my fingers again, but this time I didn't hear it hit the floor. All I could hear was that word echoing in my head.

Son.

While my daughter lay dying in the next room, waiting for her father's blood to save her life.

The doctor who'd just delivered Vesper's diagnosis rushed toward Ryker and the bleeding child. "What happened?"

"Car accident." Ryker's voice shook. "He was in the backseat."

I stood frozen, watching as they transferred the boy to a bed. The same doctor who moments ago told me my daughter was dying now hovered over Ryker's secret son.

"He's lost a lot of blood." The doctor's gloved hands moved swiftly. "We need to start transfusions immediately. What's his blood type?"

"Same as mine. AB negative." Ryker pulled at his tie, loosening it.

The words hit me like a sledgehammer. AB negative. The same rare blood type that could save Vesper.

The doctor's head snapped up. "AB negative? We're critically low on that type. We'll need direct donations-"

"I'll do it." Ryker shrugged off his jacket. "Whatever he needs."

"Ryker…" My voice cut through the chaos.

Ryker's head turned. His eyes met mine across the emergency room, and everything stopped. The machines beeping, the nurses rushing past, Calypso's quiet sobs - it all faded away.

In that moment, I watched recognition dawn on his face.

Recognition that I'd heard everything.

That I knew about his son.

That I knew the blood he was so willing to give wasn't going to our dying daughter.
