Chapter 3

Lillian had someone send the signed divorce agreement to the law firm and then headed to the company.

She had considerable sharp business acumen.

She had not only invested a lot of money to save the Anderson Group from crisis but also helped expand it significantly over the past three years.

As the Anderson Group grew, there were more conflicts between Lillian and Liam. So she voluntarily quit her job at the Anderson Group six months ago and only kept her title as a deputy general manager.

Since she planned to divorce, it was time to separate the two families completely.

Lillian submitted her resignation. Soon, the HR manager came to her anxiously. "Ms. Walsh, your resignation is a major decision. It's beyond my authority. I'm afraid that we'll need Liam's approval."

Lillian replied bitterly, "It's okay. Just submit it to him."

The HR manager breathed a sigh of relief and quickly forwarded her resignation to Liam.

Seeing Lillian's pale face, the HR manager assumed that Lillian had a fight with Liam and cautiously tried to console her. "Lillian, did you and Liam have a fight? Your contributions to the Anderson family over the years have been obvious to everyone. Liam loves you dearly. He surely wouldn't want you to leave the company. Why not sit down and talk things over?"

As soon as the HR manager's words fell, Lillian's computer chimed with a notification.

Her resignation had been approved.

The HR manager looked astonished.

Lillian was stunned. Then she gave a self-mocking smile.

She quickly arranged for the handover of her work and packed her things. Then she headed home.

As soon as she entered the room, Liam stormed towards her in anger.

He didn't even glance at what she was carrying. He snatched the box from her hands and smashed it onto the floor. "Lillian, isn't it enough that you slapped Lindsay? Now you're forcing her to resign? You are going too far to bully her like that."

Lillian lowered her gaze to the scattered items on the floor. The photo album on top contained pictures of her and Liam. She had deliberately placed it on her desk at her office.

It now lay shattered, mirroring her broken relationship with Liam.

She resigned, and he approved it instantly. But when Lindsay threw a tantrum and quit her job, he came to confront and blame her.

Lillian felt it was absurd. "Her resignation has nothing to do with me."

Liam, however, didn't believe her words at all. He stepped towards her and didn't notice that he had stepped on the photo of him and her.

He grabbed her wrist and forcefully dragged her outside. "If it's not you, then who forced her? You're coming with me to apologize to Lindsay right now."

He exerted so much force that Lillian's wrist throbbed with pain. Her face turned pale instantly.

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she couldn't hold back her anger any longer. "Liam, who's really going too far? Is it me or you? "She's just a homewrecker and brazenly showed off in front of me. I slapped her because she deserved it. I told you her quitting has nothing to do with me. I will never apologize to her. Let go of me. Let go!"

She couldn't hold back any longer and used all her strength to break free. In the end, she bit down on his wrist.

Liam winced from the pain and instinctively flung her away.

Lillian was unprepared and staggered backward. Then she fell to the floor.

Her wrist landed on the shattered glass from the photo frame. She shivered from the pain and felt a dull ache spread from her abdomen.

Liam was startled. His anger doused as he hurriedly crouched down. "Lillian, I didn't mean it. I..."

Lillian ignored the pain in her wrist and clutched her abdomen. She said with great difficulty, "Take me to the hospital now. I'm pregnant..."

Just as Liam was about to lift her, his phone rang, interrupting her sentence.

He answered it, and his face lit up with joy.

"You found her? I'll be right there!" With that, he said to her quickly, "Let the driver take you to the hospital." Then he rushed out.

Lillian watched his heartless departure and couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

She propped herself up against the sofa, pushed through the pain, and drove herself to the hospital.

Chapter 4

The doctor learned that Lillian was six weeks pregnant and took her case seriously. After bandaging her wounds, the doctor immediately arranged for a thorough check-up for her.

"Ms. Walsh, don't worry. The baby is alright. You are slightly bleeding. I'll prescribe some medication to help stabilize the pregnancy. Have a good rest during this period."

Lillian breathed a sigh of relief and nodded gratefully. "Thank you, doctor."

A long time later, Liam finally showed up at the hospital when Lillian was lying listlessly on a hospital bed and staring blankly out of the window.

She didn't look like the spirited young princess she once had been. Instead, she seemed as fragile as porcelain at that moment.

Liam hesitated before walking to her bedside and taking her hand. "Lillian, I've broken up with her. I promise it won't happen again. Please forgive me this time, won't you?"

Lillian looked at his hand, but what surfaced in her mind was her life, which felt like being trapped in a cage for the past three years.

Her expression was cold as she forcefully withdrew her hand. Then she shut her eyes and ignored him.

There was no future for her and him anymore.

The next day, Lillian returned home. Liam deliberately put away his work to stay with her at home. He even followed her around.

He watched as Lillian was busy handling many things. She threw away keepsakes of their shared past and then packed her things into a large suitcase.

It looked like she was leaving him forever.

Liam grew anxious.

He pointed to the items Lillian had thrown into the trash, and his face turned pale. "These are all gifts we exchanged before. Why are you throwing them away?"

Before Lillian responded, he pointed at her suitcase and asked anxiously, "And this. Where are you going, Lillian?"

Lillian replied casually, "It's been a rough patch lately. I want to travel and relax."

Liam looked at her expression carefully, but Lillian met his gaze without flinching.

He couldn't see anything from her intentions, so he breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "It's good to have a trip. Let me join you. It's been ages since we traveled together."

Before Lillian could refuse, his phone rang abruptly.

Liam glanced at it, and his expression changed slightly. He instinctively tried to conceal his phone before stepping aside to answer the call.

Unfortunately, Lillian had already seen the name "Lindsay" on the screen.

Just then, a servant handed her a document. "Ms. Walsh, someone delivered the document for you just now."

Lillian opened it, only to see their divorce certificates were there.

Just at that moment, her phone vibrated with a ticket purchase notification, accompanied by a message from Ricky. "Lillian, congratulations on starting anew. Welcome home."

Lillian's eyes reddened slightly as she tucked the divorce certificates into her handbag.

Liam finished the call and turned around. He only saw the corner of the divorce certificates disappearing from view.

A sense of unease welled up in him as he walked up to her. He asked, "What is that?"

Lillian didn't reply. Instead, she changed the subject and asked, "Whose call was that?"

Liam's gaze flickered, and he sounded guilty. "Sorry, honey. Someone from the company says there is something I have to handle there. I can't go with you. So we'll have to postpone our trip together."

Lillian had anticipated that and replied flatly, "That's okay."

Liam couldn't have the trip with her, so he drove her to the airport.

On their way, he frequently checked his phone and responded to messages with it. And he always had a subtle smile on his lips.

He was likely already fantasizing about spending romantic days with Lindsay while Lillian was away.

Lillian's gaze turned cold. When he wasn't paying attention, she placed his copy of the divorce certificate in the glovebox of the passenger seat.

At the airport, Liam hugged her. He said gently, "Don't stay away too long, honey. I'll be waiting for you to come back."

Lillian felt the familiar embrace, and her eyes reddened slightly.

"Liam, I had a gift for you. It's in the glovebox. Don't forget to check it." With that, she took a long look at him and then left without hesitation.

Liam stood there and watched her figure disappear before returning to his car.

He was joyful and was about to open the glovebox, only to notice a piece of paper left in the passenger seat.

He raised his eyebrows and picked it up. His eyes widened in shock as he read the words "6 weeks pregnant." Then he became excited.

"Lillian is pregnant? I'm going to be a dad!"

His elation was abruptly interrupted by the sudden ringing of his phone.

As soon as he answered it, his assistant's tense voice came through. "Mr. Anderson, there's trouble. You need to come to the office immediately. Your private video with Lindsay has been leaked, and it's currently the top trending topic. Now the company account is being bombarded with reports and flooded with negative comments. Many business partners are demanding to terminate their contracts with us. We're doomed."

Chapter 5

Lillian hung her head low, and tears silently streamed down her cheeks.

The figures standing in front of her soon left.

She waited quietly. Soon, she heard a flurry of footsteps approaching.

Soon, Liam's familiar, urgent voice reached her ears. "Lillian, I'm late!"

Liam rushed to her and quickly untied the ropes from her hands and feet.

Lillian pulled off the thing covering her face and discovered it was a pair of black pantyhose.

The white stain on them was both derisive and challenging to her.

She looked up at Liam.

He saw her red and swollen face and was a little guilty. He avoided her gaze and pulled her in his arms tightly. "I'm so sorry, Lillian. It's all my fault for being late and getting you hurt. It must be done by those rival companies. Don't worry. I won't let them get away with it. I will let those who hurt my wife pay the price."

His voice was filled with hatred, but Lillian only felt chill.

For the first time, she realized her husband, whom she had loved for so many years, was so good at acting.

The scent of Lindsay's perfume on him made Lillian almost retch.

She broke free from Liam's embrace and asked calmly, "Would you really... make those who hurt me pay the price?"

Liam turned sharply to Lillian. He sensed an underlying meaning in her words.

He felt an inexplicable unease. "Of... of course."

Lillian smiled slowly, and her smile was tinged with coldness.

"Oh, Liam, don't you know that you will stutter when you're nervous and lying?" she said inwardly.

But it didn't matter. If she couldn't rely on him, she could rely on herself.

She would make those who hurt her pay the price.

Liam noticed something was off with her expression. He instinctively held her hand and swore, saying, "Lillian, I know you're still upset about Lindsay and me, but trust me. Lindsay was just a fling. Once I get tired of her, I'll send her away." You're my wife. I only love you. You're the most important to me."

Lillian once believed his words, but she had been slapped over twenty times by Lindsay.

Liam claimed to love her, but he had just stood by and coldly watched as Lindsay humiliated Lillian.

Liam carefully carried Lillian and drove her to the hospital.

Lindsay had used considerable force to slap Lillian, and the former's sharp nails had left bloody marks on Lillian's face. Even her eardrum was injured and bled.

Lillian remained silent when the doctor examined and treated her.

Liam stayed with her closely. When the doctor mentioned her hearing might be affected, a flicker of regret crossed his eyes.

Lillian was then sent to a hospital room for observation.

She didn't want to see Liam, so she quietly lay on the hospital bed and closed her eyes to feign sleep.

Liam stayed in the room for a while until his phone rang.

He saw Lillian's eyes closed and hastily answered.

The room was quiet, and Lillian heard Lindsay's playfully flirtatious voice through the phone. "Mr. Anderson, where are you? My hand hurts, and I want you to be with me."

Liam chuckled softly, talked in a lower voice, and walked out. "I'm at the hospital. Come over."

He glanced at Lillian on the bed. After he confirmed that she was "asleep," he left the room.

As soon as the door closed, Lillian opened her eyes.

She got up and followed Liam.

Lindsay had already been outside the hospital. After Liam allowed her to go to the hospital, she quickly found her way in.

Liam pulled her in his arms and took her to a quiet corridor in the inpatient section.

Lindsay clung to him tightly and pouted playfully. "My hand hurts. Only a kiss can make it better."

Liam followed her words, kissed her palm, and then gently chided her. "You slapped her too hard. Her hearing almost got damaged."

Lindsay snorted, "Are you feeling sorry for her? Are you going to slap me for her? I knew it. You don't truly love me."

Liam pinched her nose and said in a doting tone, "Don't play coy. I only played along with you to vent your anger. Lillian's still hospitalized. Don't you know who I truly care about?"

Lindsay giggled, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his cheek. "You're the best, honey."

Her soft body brushed against his sensitive part, and he was turned on.

He gripped her waist and put her on the window ledge. He said in a husky voice, "But you hurt Lillian. As her husband, I can't let you off easily. Naturally, I have to punish you."

With that, he lowered his head and swallowed her surprised voice.

Soon, her seductive voice, mixed with the sound of having sex, echoed through the corridor. It was reminiscent of slaps echoing in the air.

Lillian stood at the stairwell corner and witnessed the absurd scene. She slowly pressed on her phone to stop recording.

She couldn't watch them any longer. She turned back to her room and vomited into a trash can until her stomach was empty.
