Claiming His Defiant Omega Mate Chapter 1

My father, the Alpha of the Winterfang Pack, cast my sick mother and me out to die in the freezing Black Forest.

To buy my survival, my mother swallowed pure silver poison right in front of the pack gates, dying in agony as I watched.

Taken in out of pity, I was treated like a diseased rat, locked in a damp attic as a bastard Omega.

The visiting Alpha of the strongest pack, Kaelen, pinned me against a brick wall, his golden eyes burning with absolute disgust.

"Do you think you can use your cheap Omega tricks to ruin this family?"

I was forbidden from speaking, forced to watch in silence as the pack's true heir rotted away in a cursed courtyard.

He was paralyzed by dark magic that my father had secretly allowed, just to put his own corrupt bloodline in power.

I was nothing but a lowly servant, mocked by high-ranking wolves and threatened with execution if I stepped out of line.

I didn't understand why the Moon Goddess allowed such cruelty, or why my mother had to die for their sins.

Why did they treat me like dirt when I was the only one holding the ancient, forbidden knowledge that could save their dying heir?

I decided I was done hiding in the shadows.

I walked straight into the guarded courtyard, used my mother's sacred relic to draw the black curse from the heir's blood, and finally awakened my legendary White Wolf bloodline.

I watched as the terrifying Alpha Kaelen dropped to his knees before me, his beast howling in sudden, desperate recognition of his fated mate.

Chapter 1

Clara POV

The heavy fog of the Black Forest clung to the cobblestone streets, not as a mist but as a sodden, tangible shroud. My thin wool coat, long since saturated by the clinging vapour, felt like a sheet of cold iron fused to my spine, and with every breath, I could feel the chill seeping into the joints of my bones. The Gothic spires of the Winterfang cathedral pierced the gray sky, their stone gargoyles leering down at us like witnesses to an execution.

My mother leaned heavily against the iron gates, her breath rattling in her chest. She was an Omega, the lowest rank in our werewolf society, and a former Rogue. My father, Silas, the Alpha of the Winterfang Pack, had decided we were a stain on his reputation. He had ordered us cast out into the wild, which was not merely exile—it was a death sentence. Omegas without pack bonds lost their minds within months, descending into a feral madness before their bodies finally gave out.

A grand black carriage pulled by four massive midnight horses stopped before the cathedral steps. The door opened, and a woman stepped out, wearing a rich velvet corset dress and a heavy fur cloak. It was Seraphina, the Luna of the Winterfang Pack. She was the mother of the pack, the Alpha's mate, and the heart of our territory.

My mother threw herself at Seraphina's feet, her knees hitting the wet stones with a heavy thud. "Luna, I beg of you," my mother cried, her voice raw.

Seraphina looked down, her expression calm but carrying the natural authority of a high-ranking wolf. "Why do you block my path, Omega?" Seraphina asked, her tone cool but not cruel.

"Silas is casting us out," my mother choked out, grabbing the hem of Seraphina's cloak. "I know my life is over. But Clara... she has Winterfang blood. She is only an innocent. She has done nothing but be born. "

Seraphina looked at me. I stood tall, refusing to let my tears fall, just as my mother had taught me. Her gaze lingered on my face—searching, weighing—and something flickered in her eyes. Not pity. Calculation.

"I cannot openly defy the Alpha's command on pack borders," Seraphina said softly. "You know the laws of our kind."

My mother smiled, but it was a smile that did not touch her eyes, a hollow acceptance that seemed to carve all the life from her face before the poison even touched her lips. "I know," my mother whispered.

She reached into her pocket. She shoved a heavy moonstone locket into my palm, its surface cool against my skin, her fingers trembling. "Hide this," she breathed. "It's our only legacy. What's inside... it's knowledge that powerful wolves would kill to possess. Your grandmother died protecting it, and her mother before her. "

Then, she pulled out a small glass vial filled with a shimmering silver powder. Colloidal silver—ground so fine it was almost invisible, suspended in an alchemical solution. The ultimate poison to our kind. It burned our blood, stopped our rapid healing, and destroyed us from the inside out. Before anyone could move, my mother uncorked the vial and swallowed the powder dry.

"Mother!" I screamed, lunging forward.

She collapsed onto the cobblestones, her body seizing violently. Black veins instantly crawled up her neck, and foam mixed with dark blood spilled from her lips. "I pay for my sins with my life," my mother gasped, looking up at the Luna. "Save her."

Seraphina's eyes widened in shock, the scent of burning flesh and sour blood filling the damp air. My mother took one last, shuddering breath, and her eyes went blank. A strange, airless cavity seemed to open up beneath my ribs, and each attempt to breathe was a ragged, useless effort. I fell to my knees, grabbing her cooling hand, but I did not cry. Something inside me had frozen solid, crystallizing into a cold, hard purpose. I would never waste my tears on the unfairness of the Moon Goddess.

Seraphina looked at my mother's body, then at me, her eyes softening with a deep, solemn pity. "Guards," Seraphina commanded, her voice echoing in the fog. "Take the girl to Blackwood Manor. She is under my protection now."

That was how I ended up in the attic of the ancient Gothic manor. The room was damp, smelling of old wood and dust, with only a small window that barely let in the moonlight. The head maid, a Beta wolf with broad shoulders and a stern face, stood in my doorway. "You are an Omega, and a bastard," she sneered, and the air around her carried the acrid scent of bitter ash and starched linen. "You stay in the shadows. You do not speak unless spoken to. Annie will watch your every move." She pointed to a young, mousy maid who stood nervously in the hall.

"I understand," I said quietly, keeping my head bowed to show submission. But beneath my lowered lashes, my eyes were dry and watchful. My mother had not died so I could wither away in this attic. She had given me the locket, and whatever knowledge it contained, I would master it. I would survive. And one day, I would understand why she had to die.

The head maid huffed, satisfied, and locked the door behind her.
