Caught on Camera: My Husband's Biggest Lie

After being severely hurt by my husband once again, a reporter comes to me.

"Ma'am, wasn't your husband one of the 'Top Ten Most Touching People' ten years ago after he saved you during the earthquake and ended up paralyzed on one side?"

I nodded silently.

"Ma'am, we're from the TV station, and we're preparing to do a program on the earthquake."

I secretly rub my bruised arm and stare at him. "Alright, but could you film it covertly? My husband isn't comfortable with so many cameras around."

But to my surprise, on the first day of filming, I end up getting wildly cursed at online.

When I got home, my husband, Victor Langley, was still in the room.

I was carefully setting up the hidden camera when he called out, "You're back already?"

I felt my heart stop for a moment as cold sweat broke out on my back.

"Why are you back so early? Don't you have work today?" Victor smiled and beckoned me over.

I forced myself to overcome my body's stiffness and walked toward him.

The hidden camera had begun livestreaming, and comments were already rolling in.

"So, this is the man who became paralyzed after trying to save his girlfriend during the earthquake!"

"He loves so purely and is so handsome. This is who we should be watching!"

"But his wife seems so strange, doesn't she? Why does it feel like she doesn't want to get close to him?"

As Victor gently stroked my hair, I forced myself to stay calm. However, I trembled at every touch, especially when I saw the pair of legs under the blanket.

I averted my gaze. Just a few days ago, he had used that very leg to kick and crack my ribs.

"Case closed. She's just disgusted by her husband's disabled legs. Look at how she immediately looked away."

"Unbelievable. If it weren't for her, Victor wouldn't be paralyzed. But now, she's looking down on him."

I had actually been planning on breaking up with Victor on the day of the earthquake. Even back then, I found his obsessive possessiveness incredibly uncomfortable.

Once, I found out that the stray cat I had been feeding from freshman to senior year had been poisoned by him. Fear, rage, and sorrow had filled my body.

Victor was just too terrifying. He had said, "Aly, I just loved you too much. You always gave so much attention to that cat, and I got jealous. You said you wanted to take that cat with you after you graduated, and I couldn't accept it."

I hadn't wanted to argue with him. Just as I was about to leave the classroom, everything suddenly shook.

It was an earthquake.

The classroom was on the first floor, so the empty sports field was right outside.

As I was about to run out, Victor yanked me back. "Alicia Kerr, if you break up with me, I don't want to live, either. Let's die together."

I watched helplessly as the beam overhead came crashing down.

I didn't know how long I was under the rubble, but all I knew was that when the rescuers finally carried me out, there were countless cameras pointed at me.
