Came Back Hotter With The Heir's Love Chapter 1

The black Lincoln Town Car cut through the rain-soaked darkness, its headlights slicing across the dilapidated gates of St. Jude's Orphanage. Rain hammered against the windows, a frantic, desperate rhythm.

In the back seat, Herman Rich roughly shook the small girl sleeping in his arms.

Three-year-old Adria Carlisle stirred, clutching her worn teddy bear tighter. She blinked, her vision blurry with sleep. "Daddy, are we home?"

A flicker of disgust crossed Herman's face. He said nothing.

He opened the car door. A blast of cold, wet air rushed in. He pulled Adria from the warmth of the car, her small dress instantly soaked by the downpour.

The mud squelched under her tiny shoes as he dragged her toward the iron gates. He shoved her forward, pushing her small body toward the looming, dark building.

From his pocket, he pulled a crumpled fifty-dollar bill and stuffed it deep inside her teddy bear's plush body. His voice was as cold as the rain. "From today on, you don't have a father."

The push sent Adria stumbling. She fell into a puddle of mud, her teddy bear tumbling from her grasp.

She looked back, her small face streaked with rain and tears. All she saw were the Lincoln's taillights, two red eyes disappearing into the storm. Her cries were swallowed by a crack of thunder.

An elderly nun, hearing the commotion, opened the heavy wooden door. She found Adria in the mud, shivering and sobbing, nearly unconscious from the cold. She scooped the little girl into her arms and carried her inside.

Back in the car, Herman lit a cigar, the smoke curling around his triumphant face. He dialed a number.

A woman's purring voice answered. "Darling, is it done?"

"Of course," Herman said, a smug smile spreading across his lips. "The little bastard has been dropped. From now on, everything that belonged to the Carlisles is ours."

On the other end of the line, Caroline Rich shrieked with delight. She was already planning a lavish party to celebrate, chattering about how her daughter, Dolores, would now be the most dazzling jewel in all of New York.

Seventeen years later.

The grand ballroom of the St. Regis hotel glittered under the light of a thousand crystals. On a large screen, photos of a smiling couple played on a loop: the groom, Hudson Davenport, and the bride, Dolores Rich.

In the crowd, Herman and Caroline Rich, parents of the bride, glowed with pride. They accepted congratulations, soaking in the glory of their new, elevated status.

Herman held a champagne flute, boasting to a business partner about his foresight, about how he had single-handedly elevated the Rich family to its current heights. He never once mentioned the name Carlisle.

Meanwhile, at a private hangar at JFK, a Gulfstream G650 touched down on the tarmac.

The door opened. A slender, severe figure appeared at the top of the stairs. She wore a simple black trench coat, her long, dark hair whipping in the wind. Her ice-blue eyes held no warmth.

She descended the steps. Behind her, seven figures, each exuding a powerful and distinct aura, followed in silent deference. They opened the door to a waiting Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Adria Carlisle slid into the back seat. In her hand, she toyed with an elegant pocket watch, engraved with the letter 'C'. It had belonged to her grandfather, Marcus Carlisle.

She pulled out her phone. The screen showed a live feed of the wedding at the St. Regis. The bride, Dolores, was beaming, a picture of manufactured joy.

A cold, thin smile touched Adria's lips. "The party is just beginning," she whispered to herself.

She gave the driver a single command. "To the St. Regis."

The car pulled smoothly into the flow of New York traffic, a blade aimed at the heart of her enemies.

Back at the wedding, the priest's voice echoed through the silent hall. "Does anyone object to this union?"

The room was still.

Herman and Caroline exchanged a victorious glance. Their life's ambition was moments from being realized.

Dolores gazed lovingly at Hudson, waiting for the moment he would place the ring on her finger, the moment she would become Mrs. Davenport.

But Hudson Davenport, the king of New York's financial empire, wore a mask of indifference. His face was blank, as if this were a business transaction that barely concerned him.

Just as the priest was about to proceed, the heavy oak doors of the ballroom were thrown open with a resounding bang.

Every head turned.

Silhouetted against the light, a tall woman walked in.

Her heels clicked against the red carpet, a sharp, rhythmic sound that seemed to beat in time with Herman Rich's suddenly frantic heart.

As she stepped into the light, revealing a face that was both familiar and terrifyingly strange, the champagne glass slipped from Herman's hand. It shattered on the marble floor.

His face went white. His lips trembled. He looked as if he had seen a ghost.

Adria Carlisle stopped. Her ice-blue eyes cut through the stunned crowd, locking directly onto Herman Rich.

Her voice was not loud, but it carried through the cavernous hall, clear and sharp.

"Long time no see, my... father."
