Sunlight broke gently into the room, warming the crisp white sheets tangled around Caleb's waist. He stirred slowly, the scent of fresh eggs and something sweet pulling him from sleep.
Caleb opened his eyes slowly, and there he was, Henry, shirtless, unkempt hair falling perfectly over his brow, holding a breakfast tray like he was presenting a treasure.
"Good morning, prince charming," Henry said with a soft smile, setting the tray down on the bedside table. "I figured you deserved a little something special."
"You made me breakfast?" Caleb murmured, voice thick with sleep.
Henry leaned in, brushed a kiss over Caleb's forehead. "Only the best for the man who haunts my dreams."
A lazy smile spread across Caleb's face as he sat up, the sheet slipping to his waist, revealing his toned chest. "You really trying to make me fall hard, huh?"
Henry chuckled, climbing onto the bed beside him. "Too late. You already did."
The tray held warm croissants, scrambled eggs, strawberries, and a glass of orange juice. Caleb took a bite, humming with satisfaction.
"You know," Henry murmured, sliding closer, "you look really good like this... all soft, all mine."
Caleb set the fork down, leaning in. "And you, naked chef with a six-pack and a tray of food? Dangerous."
Their lips met again, slowly, then hungrily, until Caleb's phone buzzed on the drawer. He groaned, reaching for it.
> Reminder: 10am pitch meeting. Boss moved it earlier.
"Sh*t!" He pushed the tray aside carefully. "I need to shower now."
"You have time," Henry said, relaxing against the pillows.
"No, I don't. I-wait, where are my clothes?" Caleb stood, spinning around the room.
Henry stood, proud. "Washed, dried, ironed. In the closet."
Caleb's jaw dropped. "You did my laundry? And ironed it?"
"I own a smart laundry unit. It practically folds for me." He smirked.
Caleb stared at him, then walked straight into his arms. "You're perfect."
Henry pulled him in for a short, intense kiss. "Just grateful you stayed the night."
Caleb kissed back quickly. "I'd stay every night if I could. But I gotta run. Derek's waiting outside."
"Derek?" Henry raised a brow.
"My nosy best friend. He insisted on driving me so I wouldn't be late. He's already outside."
"I could drop you," Henry offered.
Caleb pulled on his dress shirt. "Tempting, but Derek's already out there."
"Tonight," he whispered, "at the bachelor party. You'll be there?"
"I'll be the most overdressed man in the room. Just for you," Henry replied.
---
Outside, Derek sat in his car, window rolled down, smirking like a devil. Sunglasses on, grinning the moment Caleb opened the door.
"You look well-f**ked," Derek said with a snort.
"Oh my god," Caleb muttered, slipping in.
Derek grinned. "You told me you were at his place and then dropped the address like some mafia handoff. I need details."
Caleb shook his head, lips twitching. "One, it was incredible. Two, he made me breakfast in bed. And three, was... insanely sweet."
"You like him," Derek said, laughing.
Caleb didn't deny it. "I might."
Derek let out a dramatic gasp. "Plot twist! And here I thought you were gonna play hard to get."
Caleb gave him a playful shove. "Shut up and drive. We have a meeting to attend."
---
The ballroom at The Beacon was transformed into a haven of low lights, soft jazz, and champagne bubbles. Twinkling fairy lights strung across the ceiling cast a glow over the elegant space. Caleb arrived with Derek and Jaden, all three dressed sharply.
"You're glowing," Derek teased. "Tell me that's not love."
"I'm not sure what it is," Caleb replied, grinning. "But it's... real."
"Lover boy," Derek winked. "He's coming, right?"
"He promised he wouldn't miss it," Caleb replied.
Will, the groom-to-be, stood at the heart of the room, radiating joy as he spread his arms wide.
"Look who's here! The holy trinity." He laughed, pulling them into a group hug before shaking each hand with warmth.
Just then, Henry walked in, wearing a dark blazer over a turtleneck, looking painfully handsome, confident, composed, but visibly tense when his eyes fell on Jaden.
Jaden didn't move. His smile stayed put, but his grip on his glass subtly shifted.
"Sorry I'm late," Henry said, eyes darting quickly to Caleb, then flicking back to Jaden in a way he prayed no one noticed.
Caleb brightened. "You made it."
Will called out, "Just in time. We were about to vote on who passes out first."
Henry forced a chuckle. The only seat left was beside Caleb, directly across from Jaden.
He sat down with measured care. His throat felt dry. The laughter around him sounded distant.
Caleb nudged him playfully. "You okay?"
Henry nodded, eyes never leaving his glass. "Yeah. Long day. This helps."
Then Jaden spoke, calm, cutting. "So... Henry, right?"
Henry looked up slowly. "Yeah."
"I feel like we've met before," Jaden said, tone light, but his eyes razor sharp. "You look familiar."
Henry didn't flinch. "Maybe in passing."
Jaden tilted his head, studying him. "Hm. Maybe."
Caleb frowned a little, glancing between them. "You two don't actually know each other?"
Jaden smiled. "Not really. Do we?"
Henry's jaw tightened. "No. Not really."
Caleb let out a confused laugh. "You guys are weird."
Will, already a few drinks deep and with the swagger of a man who'd forgotten his own limits, hoisted his glass and cleared his throat.
"Alright, listen up guys," he slurred, voice loud enough to cut through the background music. "I appreciate you all for coming."
Caleb smirked, but Henry's gaze flickered toward Jaden.
"Heartily, I appreciate Mr. Henry for his generosity. I feel honored, thank you so much."
Henry's lips curled into a half-smile, the kind that didn't quite reach his eyes. "You're welcome, man."
"I promised I'd announce who my best man is tonight," Will said, his voice rising above the buzz of conversation. "And you all know I love every single one of you."
"Say it already," Derek groaned, rolling his eyes dramatically, making everyone laugh harder.
Will raised a hand, commanding playful silence. "At my wedding tomorrow..." He paused, letting the moment stretch just long enough for suspense. "My best man will be, Caleb."
Cheers erupted. Caleb blinked, stunned, then broke into a wide grin. He stepped forward, heart full, wrapping Will in a warm embrace. Without hesitation, he pressed a quick peck to Will's cheek. His friends whooped louder.
"Careful," Derek called out, chuckling. "He's taken, you know."
Caleb pulled back just enough to flash Derek a smug look. "Get lost. Told you I'd be the best man."
Will laughed, resting a hand on Caleb's shoulder. "To be honest... it wasn't even my call."
Caleb blinked. "Wait, what?"
Will's smile deepened. "Mia chose you."
Caleb froze mid-laugh, mouth falling open. "Wait, what?"
"We swapped," Will said with a smirk. "I chose her maid of honor, and she picked you."
Derek groaned dramatically. "Oh, I am absolutely crucifying Mia for that."
Caleb turned, grinning at him. "Jealousy... is that you?"
"I plan surprises for her. I shop with her. I listen to baby name ideas even though she's not even pregnant yet," Derek said, gesturing wildly. "And she still picked you."
Caleb raised his brows. "Well, clearly, she's got great taste. She made me best man... and she's making you a godfather soon. No cheating roles."
Derek scoffed, playfully scowling. "Ugly."
Caleb burst out laughing, nudging Derek with his elbow.
Derek narrowed his eyes. "Love you bro."
"Love you too," Caleb shot back, raising his drink.
Derek broke the tension with a laugh. "Come on, guys, cheers to the groom!" Raising his glass, Caleb clinked it with Henry's, and they all cheered.
As the party slowed, Caleb leaned close to Henry, voice low and steady. "Take me home?"
Jaden shifted, the ghost of a smirk tugging at his lips as he caught Henry's eye across the room, an exchange so fleeting, no one else noticed.
Henry didn't hesitate. His hand found the small of Caleb's back, firm and sure. "Let's go."
---
Henry drove with one hand, the other resting on Caleb's knee.
Caleb, barefoot in the passenger seat, watched him with fond mischief. "You keep doing all this, people are going to think I don't own a car."
Henry glanced over, smirking. "Let them. I want to be the reason you never wait alone again."
Caleb's heart stuttered.
"You're something else."
"I'm yours," Henry replied, turning down the volume of the soft jazz playing.
They fell into silence for a while, enjoying the warmth, the hum of the car, and the intimacy of just being.
Then Caleb turned, teasing. "So when do I meet the man who made you this intense?"
Henry lifted a brow. "My father?"
"Yup."
"You sure?"
"I've been kissed in a ballroom and fed strawberries in bed. I'm ready for anything."
Henry laughed. "Okay, but I should warn you. He's charming and terrifying. Think Gordon Ramsay with a throne."
"I'll charm him," Caleb said confidently.
"You sure?" Henry asked.
Caleb glanced out the window, smiling. "Positive."
Caleb smirked. "As long as he doesn't throw me out for stealing his son's heart, I'm game."
Henry grinned, eyes sparkling. "Trust me, after meeting you, he'll probably ask if he can date you too."
Caleb laughed, shaking his head. "You're such a jerk."
Henry's smile softened. "Well, then Monday it is."
Caleb nodded, a quiet smile playing on his lips as he looked at Henry.
The city faded behind them in streaks of grey and sunlight as Henry drove down a quiet road leading to Melbourne. Caleb watched the trees blur by. Henry sat in the driver's seat, unusually quiet, fingers drumming the steering wheel in a rhythm only he understood.
"Still nervous?" Caleb asked softly.
Henry glanced over with a short laugh. "Is it that obvious?"
"You've only checked your rearview mirror every twenty seconds like someone's tailing us."
Henry rolled his eyes but smiled. "I just... I don't know. This matters. He's never met anyone I've dated and actually liked. So I'm hoping today breaks that record."
Caleb leaned back, stretching his arm across the console to trace his fingers over Henry's. "You act like you're introducing me to a king or something."
"He might as well be," Henry muttered, eyes on the road. "He's intense."
Caleb raised a brow. "So this is a test."
"No," Henry paused, then corrected himself. "Okay. Maybe a little. But it's not like a grilling. He's just... you know what? F**k it."
Henry slowed as he pulled into a long driveway lined with manicured hedges and low stone walls.
"Wow," Caleb murmured, taking in the house. Sleek, modern, too perfect. Like something out of a design magazine. "He lives here alone?"
"Yep. My mom moved out after the divorce, but Dad kept the house. It's his kingdom."
Caleb exhaled slowly. The house was beautiful, but intimidating. It made everything feel suddenly more real.
Henry parked and cut the engine, then turned fully toward him. "Last chance to run."
"Not a chance," Caleb said, smiling.
Henry leaned in, pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth. "You've got this. He's going to love you. He'd be insane not to."
They stepped out of the car and walked up to the door.
"He's chill," Henry said as he rang the doorbell. "Just don't overthink it."
The door opened and Caleb's thoughts completely derailed.
Asher, Henry's dad, wasn't just attractive. He was arresting, tall and confident with silver at his temples and a low, amused gaze like he already knew all your secrets. His eyes landed on Caleb and lingered a second too long, and something unspoken passed between them.
Asher's mouth curved into a polite smile, but his eyes were unreadable as he looked at Caleb, who carried a kind of beauty that felt distant, like something you could admire but never hold.
"You must be Caleb," he said, offering his hand.
His voice was deep and smooth. Caleb shook it, warm and firm. His breath caught for a second longer than it should have.
"I've heard a lot about you," Asher said.
"Oh? Hope it was good." Caleb extended his hand, steady.
Asher took it again, his grip firm, his gaze never wavering. "Call me Asher."
Caleb chuckled softly. "Just Asher is fine." He smiled, looking between Henry and Asher. "Nice to meet you, sir."
"My pleasure," Asher replied.
Damn it. Henry's dad is hot, Caleb thought.
Asher stepped aside, and they entered a living room that looked straight out of a modern design magazine. Minimalist, masculine, expensive. Caleb tried not to look impressed but failed.
Henry's phone buzzed. He stepped away to take the call, his mom, probably.
"You want a drink?" Asher asked.
Caleb smiled, looking into Asher's eyes. "Sure."
"Please, have a seat while I get you something," Asher said, smiling.
Caleb sat comfortably on the sofa.
"Lunch is almost ready. I'll be back in a jiff," Asher added as he walked toward the fridge.
"I told you, my dad is cool," Henry said, grinning as he pulled out a chair for Caleb at the long oak table.
"I can see that." Caleb smiled politely and sat down, smoothing his hands over his jeans.
---
Caleb sat with Henry at the long glass dining table, laughing at one of Henry's terrible jokes as Asher poured wine into their glasses.
Asher's gaze lingered on Caleb longer than it should have, his eyes tracing the lines of the younger man's face, the careless grin, the way his fingers curled slightly around the stem of the wineglass. There was too much to feel, and none of it could be spoken.
"You're incredible with him," Caleb said softly.
Asher looked up slowly. "He's my son."
"No, I meant... you're incredible with people you care about. It shows."
"Dad," Henry interrupted, slipping into the seat next to Caleb. "Easy on him." He smiled.
Asher lifted a brow. "I was being polite."
They ate in a strange kind of quiet, Henry oblivious, chatting between bites, while Caleb tried not to squirm under Asher's occasional glances.
"So," Asher said casually, setting down his glass, "how did you and Henry meet?"
Caleb hesitated, the question catching in his throat. He managed a tight smile, stabbing at the overpriced salad like it had wronged him. "At a bar," he said eventually. "He was drinking alone."
Asher huffed a quiet laugh. "Sounds like Henry. Always more comfortable watching from the sidelines."
Noticing Caleb's discomfort, Asher cleared his throat. "So," he said, voice low and steady, "what is it you do for a living, Caleb?"
Caught off guard by the shift in tone, Caleb blinked before answering. He set his glass down, fingers curling around the rim.
"I do a lot of things," he said chuckling. "Interior designing mostly. I also work with brands on visual identity, logos, campaign styling and digital design. A lot of lifestyle clients and startups that want to look expensive."
Asher's eyes didn't waver. "You design spaces, create brand visuals, and make companies look high-end," he said, a slow smile playing on his lips. "Perfect. Everything about you looks... curated."
Caleb let out a quiet laugh. "I'll take that as a compliment."
"You should," Asher said.
He walked into his room and returned with a sleek black folder, setting it gently on the counter in front of Caleb.
Henry looked between the two of them but said nothing.
"I might have something you'd be interested in," Asher said. "A project. I've been developing a retreat property upstate. Boutique, high-end, extremely private. Think minimalism meets indulgence."
Caleb opened the folder, fingers brushing the edge of the thick matte pages. "This is really nice," he murmured, scanning the designs. "It's already well thought-out."
Asher leaned forward slightly, his voice lower now. "It needs someone who can give it identity. Branding. A look and feel that tells a story. And I think you're the one to do it."
Caleb looked up, surprised by both the offer and the sincerity behind it. "You're offering me a contract?"
"I'm offering you the chance to own the visual direction from day one. I'll cover the budget. All I want is for the place to look like someone who gives a damn built it."
There was a pulse under Caleb's skin. From the proposition, sure, but also from the way Asher was looking at him. Like he wasn't just offering a job. Like he was offering something much harder to refuse.
Caleb stared down at the folder. The contract was unspoken but tangible.
"I won't let you down, sir," Caleb said.
"And you live in the city?" Asher asked.
"Brooklyn."
"Ah," Asher nodded, as if that explained everything. "Brooklyn guys always look like they're going somewhere better."
Caleb smirked. "We usually are."
That earned a low chuckle from Asher.
Henry shook his head with a smile, continuing to eat.
"I'll need your email," he said casually, lifting his tumbler of water. "There's a branding pitch coming up for one of my clients, I'd also like to send you the brief. No pressure, of course."
Caleb blinked, caught off guard by the shift from personal to professional. "Sure, of course," he replied, rattling off his email as Asher pulled his phone out and typed it in smoothly.
"Perfect," Asher said, tucking the phone back into his breast pocket. "But let's not ruin such a perfect day with talk of business. Not when I've only just gotten to know the man my son can't stop talking about."
Henry, who had been quietly sipping his wine, glanced up with a warm smile. "I'm just glad you're getting along."
Asher's lips curved into a satisfied smile. "So am I."
---
After lunch, Caleb and Henry prepared to leave. Asher followed them to the door, his presence still commanding despite the casual linen he wore.
"Wait," he said as Caleb stepped down toward the car. "One last thing."
He opened his arms. Caleb, slightly surprised, smiled and stepped into the embrace.
Asher's grip was gentle, his breath ghosting over Caleb's ear. "I must confess, you're remarkably handsome. And you don't even try."
Caleb froze.
Asher released him a second later, like nothing had been said.
Caleb stepped back, stunned but unable to fully hide the small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Henry's voice rang out from the car. "You good?"
"Yeah," Caleb replied, voice tight. "Coming."
"Drive safe," Asher said with a wink, stepping back.
As Henry started the engine, Caleb looked back once, catching Asher's silhouette framed in the front door.
"Goodbye," Henry called out.
"Not for long, I hope," Asher replied.
Henry started the engine, and they drove off.
---
The email arrived the next morning. A clean brief. Branding overhaul for a luxury homeware brand. Caleb replied with interest.
Asher's follow-up came quickly.
Would love to walk you through it. Come by my office tomorrow, nothing formal.
Caleb showed up at noon the next day. Asher's office was every bit the shrine to power and wealth he'd imagined.
Asher stood by the window, suit jacket off. "I could've just had you pitch via Zoom."
Caleb smirked. "But then you wouldn't have gotten the full experience. I figured an in-person pitch would make a stronger impression.."
Asher turned, eyes dark with something deeper. "Bravo."
Caleb looked away, the heat behind Asher's gaze too intense. "So... the logo concepts..."
But Asher crossed the room slowly, stopping only inches away.
Asher leaned in, his eyes slowly trailing down Caleb's frame before settling back on his face. "You're dangerous in a suit," he said, voice low and rich. "Too put-together. Too composed. Makes a man curious what's underneath all that polish."
Caleb looked up, startled by the change in tone. "Thank you. That's... kind."
His hand moved deliberately on Caleb's thigh, up to his butt, and came to rest. "You strike me as the type who works hard."
May I kiss you?" he asked.
But he didn't wait for an answer. He leaned in, closing the space between them.
Caleb tilted his head back slightly, pulling away.
Asher exhaled, stepping back like someone burned. "You're right. I'm sorry. I just... God, Caleb, I haven't felt like this in years. You walked in and I forget who I'm supposed to be."
Caleb's breath caught. "You're my client. My boyfriend's father."
"Caleb I love you," Asher said softly, stepping back, hands raised. "Forgive me. I was just... overwhelmed."
"Its fine," Caleb whispered.
"I'm not trying to complicate things," Asher said, voice low, "but I haven't been able to stop thinking about you."
Caleb stood too, tense but calm.
"I know. I'm sorry." Asher muttered, hands raised. "I was... caught up. I respect you, Caleb. This wasn't meant to be manipulative. You have every right to walk out and never speak to me again."
Caleb was already heading for the door, but halfway there he stopped and turned. "Asher... I don't think you're a bad man. I wish I could give you what you want, but I can't."
And with that, Caleb left, the door clicking shut behind him.
Asher's hands dropped to his sides slowly.
He sat down heavily in the chair Caleb had just vacated, burying his face in his hands.
---
That night, Caleb drove to Henry's place, using the spare key Henry had once given him.
He hadn't called ahead. He just needed to talk, to tell him everything about what his father had done, what he'd said.
As he stepped inside, he called out quietly, "Henry?" but there was no response, only the faint, rhythmic creak of movement from upstairs.
Caleb's stomach tightened. He ascended the stairs slowly, each step heavier than the last.
He opened the bedroom door and froze. A guy was on top of Henry, riding him hard and moaning his name.
Henry's eyes snapped open and, in a panic, he shoved the guy off, revealing Jaden.
Jaden tried to turn away, to hide his face, but there was nowhere to go. "Caleb..." he whispered.
Caleb stared at him, pain twisting his features, tears welling in his eyes.
"You," he said, voice cracking, "are my friend."
Caleb stumbled back a step.
"Please, Caleb," Henry called, scrambling for his boxers and pulling them on in a rush. He chased after him. "It's not what it looked like. I swear.
He just showed up, I didn't invite him. It all happened so fast. I know I messed up."
Caleb turned, his expression shattered. "Yeah. You did."
Henry reached out again, desperate. "He's my ex, okay? Jaden's my ex. I was going to tell you after the party, but I didn't know how. He forced his way in, I didn't want this, I swear."
Caleb shook his head slowly, his voice trembling. "You let him into your house, your bed, your body. You let this happen."
Tears flowed down his face. "And if you can do it once, you can do it again. I don't ever want to see you near me. Not again."
He turned and walked out sobbing as Henry followed behind, his voice cracking and pleading on the edge of breaking himself.
---
Caleb didn't step outside for three days.
He ignored Henry's visits, Asher's calls, text and voicemails.
Each day, Derek showed up with arms full of takeout, a quiet presence, throwing out dumb jokes like darts, hoping one might hit the mark.
---
"You want me to kill him?" Derek asked flatly one afternoon. "Because I will. Just say it."
Caleb let out a broken laugh, sharp and hollow. "He's not worth it."
Derek exhaled hard, eyes shadowed. "You are. You didn't deserve any of this."
"I thought he was different," Caleb murmured.
"Everyone does, until they're not." Derek held his gaze. "Stop tearing yourself apart over this. It wasn't your fault," he said, pulling Caleb into a warm embrace.
---
Derek, fiery as ever, showed up at Jaden's house a few nights later, his knuckles rapping hard on the door. The moment Jaden opened it, Derek pushed him backward with a forceful shove, slamming the door shut behind them.
"You knew," Derek snapped, driving Jaden back until he was pinned against the corner wall. "You knew exactly what that would do to him."
Jaden averted his eyes, shame creeping in. "I didn't mean to hurt Caleb."
"Bullshit," Derek hissed, eyes blazing. "You better go talk to him."
"Caleb?" Jaden repeated, startled. "I... I can't. He's not in his right state of mind."
Derek's lip curled. "Oh, like you were in yours when you gave Henry a goddamn cowboy ride?"
Jaden stiffened, his face paling.
"Yeah," Derek said, voice low and cold. "He told me everything."
Jaden's throat tightened. The weight of his actions hit him like a crash. "I'm sorry," he murmured. "I know nothing I say will justify it. I just... I couldn't get over Henry after that night. After the party, I thought I could handle it, but I didn't."
Derek's stance eased just slightly, though his eyes remained sharp. "We all screw up. But Caleb's still our friend. I believe he might forgive you if you stop running."
Jaden swallowed hard. "What if he doesn't?"
"Then you face that," Derek said. "But I'll go with you. And I'll ask Will to come too. You won't have to do it alone."
Jaden looked away, guilt dragging his shoulders down. "Alright," he whispered.
Asher called. Again. And again.
It wasn't until a quiet afternoon that Caleb finally answered.
"...Asher," he breathed, barely above a whisper.
Asher didn't hesitate. "I've been trying to reach you. You haven't answered any of my calls. If this is about what happened the other day, I swear, it won't happen again."
There was a pause.
"What about dinner tonight?" Caleb asked softly.
Silence stretched between them.
"A dinner date?" Asher echoed, surprised.
"Asher?" Caleb's voice wavered.
"Yes," Asher said at last, gentle but unwavering. "It would be my pleasure."
"I'll text you my address," Caleb murmured. "Come pick me up."
"I'll be there," Asher replied.
Caleb ended the call without another word.
---
Weeks later, Asher and Caleb stood before a quiet judge.
The only sounds were the click of a pen signing the license and the slow, deliberate words of the justice of the peace, who barely looked up from the paperwork.
They held hands, locked in each other's gaze, smiling softly.
When the ceremony ended, they walked out together, their footsteps echoing steadily down the marble hallway.
---
"What the hell, Caleb?" Derek's voice crackled through the phone. "You married him? Please tell me this is some performance art piece I don't understand."
"It's not what you think," Caleb said, his voice calm but strained. "He loves me."
Will looked furious. "You married your ex's dad, Caleb. Who the hell does that?"
Caleb didn't blink. "Yeah, I do."
Mia gave a dry chuckle, disbelief in her eyes. "This isn't funny, Caleb."
He stayed silent.
Mia moved closer, concern softening her tone. "We're not saying he doesn't care. But Henry's father? You could've chosen anyone else."
Asher's good to me," Caleb said. "He's kind. He sees me."
Will shook his head. "You're missing the point. This feels like revenge."
"Exactly!" Derek said, Mia nodding beside him. "Like you're trying to prove something."
Caleb scoffed, his eyes cold. "Yes, I'm doing this because Henry tore me apart. He slept with Jaden, my friend. Our friend." He shook his head slowly, bitterness creeping into his voice.
"So yeah, maybe I do want him to know what it feels like. To be gutted. To be replaced. To watch someone you love fall into the arms of someone you trusted like a brother."
He nodded, smiling. "I want him to feel it, every sickening second of it. And I will make sure he does."
The door opened, and all eyes turned as Jaden walked in, eyebrows raised. "What's going on?"
"I'll catch you all later," Caleb said, standing and walking past him.
"Caleb," Jaden called, but he paused only for a second before continuing out the door.
Jaden turned to the others. "Seriously. What happened?"
Derek's glare cut like a blade. "Don't you dare act clueless. This? All of this, is your fault."
---
Four days after the wedding, Henry walked into the house unannounced.
What he saw stopped him cold.
Asher had his arms wrapped around Caleb from behind, swaying gently to a slow song as he pressed a kiss to Caleb's neck. Their fingers were intertwined, matching wedding bands gleaming in the soft light.
Henry stood frozen, his eyes locking on the rings clutched in their hands.
Caleb looked up at the sound, his body going still as his gaze locked with Henry's.
For a long, tense moment, no one spoke.
