🐺CHAPTER 20 - THE FIRST CLASH
"No one survives the first strike unscathed."
The fortress shook again as the High Alpha's massive shadow fell across the main hall. His golden eyes burned like molten sun, scanning the room with lethal precision. Every warrior froze, sensing the power radiating from him.
Kael's jaw tightened. His wolf surged inside him, fur bristling, claws extending. He planted himself firmly in front of Lyra, his massive frame a living shield.
"Stay behind me," Kael growled, low and dangerous.
Lyra's silver veins pulsed under her skin, reacting to the High Alpha's power. Her wolf stirred, fierce and untamed.
We're ready, it whispered.
We fight. We survive. We rise.
The High Alpha's lips curled into a cold, mocking smile.
"So, this is the little Silverblood Mate," he said, voice echoing through the hall. "I can feel the prophecy pulsing through her veins. Such power in such a fragile form."
Lyra's chest tightened. She didn't feel fragile. She felt... burning. Alive. Powerful. And connected to Kael in a way no one could break.
Kael bared his teeth, low and threatening.
"She is under my protection. Step closer, and I'll end you."
The High Alpha chuckled darkly, taking a deliberate step forward.
"End me?" he said. "Do you even understand what you face, Kael Darkbane? The full might of the Moonblood Alpha stands before you-and behind me lies centuries of blood, loyalty, and power you've never touched."
Kael snarled, wolf form flaring, crimson eyes blazing.
"I don't care how powerful you are. If you touch her, I'll tear you apart myself."
In an instant, the air snapped.
The High Alpha lunged.
Kael met him head-on. The impact was deafening-metallic echoes, stone cracking, silver sparks flying from the force of the collision.
Lyra stumbled backward, her heart racing. She raised her hands instinctively, silver energy flowing from her palms. The Oath flared brightly, forming a protective barrier around her.
Focus, her wolf whispered.
Help him. Protect him.
Kael grunted as the High Alpha slammed him into a wall, sending stones scattering across the hall. Blood trickled from Kael's lips, but he rose again immediately, eyes glowing with fury.
The High Alpha smirked.
"You've grown strong, Kael. But this is only the beginning. I didn't come alone."
From the shadows of the hall, dozens of Alpha-level warriors emerged, their eyes shining with golden fire. The prophecy's warning hung in the air: a mate of silver blood would rise-and the world would tremble.
Lyra felt it. The surge of power-the pull of destiny threading through her veins.
Kael growled, moving in front of her again.
"No. You will not touch her," he said, voice shaking with raw emotion. "Not you. Not anyone."
Lyra's hands glowed brighter, silver energy coiling like serpents around her arms. Her wolf roared, a sound so primal it made the warriors hesitate.
The High Alpha's eyes narrowed.
"So she fights back. Interesting."
Kael leapt forward again, teeth bared. The two collided in the center of the hall with a force that shook the walls. Stones and splinters flew, torchlight flickered wildly, and the air burned with raw power.
Lyra focused, drawing her strength from the Oath, from her mark, from Kael. She surged forward, silver energy whipping toward the High Alpha's back, throwing one of his warriors off balance.
Kael roared in triumph.
"We fight together," he shouted, eyes blazing crimson.
The High Alpha spun, fury igniting in his golden gaze.
"You dare touch me?!"
The first real battle had begun.
And the prophecy... was finally unleashed.
Lyra's hands were steady. Her wolf's growl harmonized with Kael's.
Together... they were a force neither the High Alpha nor his warriors had ever faced.
And for the first time, Lyra understood the truth of the prophecy:
She was not just a mate. She was a weapon. A queen. A storm.
🐺CHAPTER 21 - THE BATTLE ESCALATES
"Together, we are unstoppable."
The hall trembled from the High Alpha's assault. Torches flared and flickered, casting long, quivering shadows across broken stone. Dust and debris hung in the air, heavy and suffocating.
Kael's wolf form roared, muscles rippling as he stood between Lyra and the advancing enemy. His crimson eyes glowed bright, reflecting the fury and determination burning inside him.
Lyra's hands glowed with silver light. The Oath pulsed through her veins like wildfire. Every fiber of her being screamed to fight.
We fight. We survive. We rise.
Her wolf surged inside her, harmonizing perfectly with Kael's energy. Together, they were no longer just bonded-they were unstoppable.
The first wave of the High Alpha's warriors lunged. Kael moved like lightning, striking with claws and teeth, throwing enemies back with brutal force.
Lyra channeled her power, sending arcs of silver energy that struck like whips, knocking warriors off balance, their screams echoing in the hall.
"Kael!" she called, dodging a spear aimed at her side.
"I've got you!" he roared, leaping to block another attacker.
The High Alpha stepped forward, his golden eyes piercing through the chaos. Every step he took made the ground tremble.
"You are strong," he said, voice like rolling thunder.
"But the prophecy does not protect her from me."
Lyra's chest tightened. Her wolf roared angrily inside her mind.
We protect him. Together.
Silver energy burst from her hands like chains of moonlight, wrapping around the High Alpha's army and sending them crashing into the walls. Kael leapt at the High Alpha, claws slashing, teeth bared.
The two titans collided with a deafening roar. Sparks of silver and gold exploded from the impact, shaking the fortress.
Lyra focused, drawing power from the Oath, from the bond, from her fear and fury. She leapt forward, her hands glowing brighter than ever, and struck the High Alpha directly.
He staggered back, eyes narrowing in shock.
"No human should wield this power!" he growled.
Lyra's silver eyes glimmered.
"I am not just human!" she shouted.
"I am Silverblood. I am his mate. And I will fight for him!"
Kael howled, colliding with the High Alpha again, teeth and claws striking with precise fury.
The High Alpha's warriors faltered as they realized the bond between Lyra and Kael was something beyond their understanding-a force of destiny itself.
"Keep her safe!" Kael shouted to the remaining warriors, though most of them were already reeling from Lyra's silver energy.
Lyra felt the power surge through her body, sharper and stronger than ever before. She could sense the warriors' intentions, the fear in their hearts, and even Kael's hidden feelings-his love, his worry, his absolute devotion.
Her wolf howled in triumph.
We are one. We fight as one.
The High Alpha took a step back, brushing dust from his cloak. His golden eyes blazed.
"You have power," he said to Lyra.
"But do you have the courage to use it?"
Lyra lifted her hands, silver light cascading over her body. She felt the bond with Kael strengthen, pulsing like a second heartbeat.
"Yes," she said, her voice steady.
"I do. And I will protect the one I love. No matter what."
The hall erupted again as Lyra and Kael charged together. Light and shadow collided, teeth and claws striking, silver flames and golden power tearing through the room.
The battle had escalated.
And for the first time, Lyra realized:
They were no longer running from prophecy-they were shaping it.
CHAPTER 22 - SECRETS OF THE OATH
"The Oath does not bind the body alone. It binds the soul."
The hall was quiet now, save for the crackling of broken torches and the shallow breaths of warriors scattered across the floor. The High Alpha had retreated, his golden eyes glaring from the shadows, but his threat hung over them like a storm cloud.
Kael sank to one knee beside Lyra, brushing dust from her glowing silver arms.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, his voice low, filled with concern.
Lyra shook her head.
"I'm... fine. But I feel... stronger."
Kael's eyes softened.
"That's the Oath. It reacts to your fear, your will, your bond with me. But it has secrets-things even I do not fully understand."
Lyra frowned.
"Secrets?"
Kael nodded.
"Yes. I've read the ancient scrolls, but they never explained the full scope. Only hints. The Oath is more than a connection between mate and Alpha. It can guide, protect... and awaken powers you never dreamed of."
Her wolf stirred inside her, fierce and eager.
We want to know. We want to understand. We want to rise.
Milo stepped forward cautiously, holding another ancient scroll.
"There's a record of previous Silverblood Mates," he said.
"Only two in recorded history survived the full awakening. Both became legendary for their strength-and their wisdom. But the Oath nearly killed them first."
Lyra's chest tightened.
"Killed them?"
"Yes," Milo continued.
"The bond reacts violently if the Mate resists its will. The First Moon Sign is just the beginning. The Second Moon Sign... is when your mind awakens. You'll hear thoughts. Feel emotions. See the truths hidden inside everyone around you."
Lyra swallowed, fear and excitement swirling inside her.
"You mean... I'll know everything Kael feels?"
Kael's jaw tightened, and he looked away, hiding the blush that rose to his cheeks.
"Not just me," he admitted quietly.
"You'll feel the pack, the warriors, the enemies... everything. It's dangerous. You may not be able to control it at first."
Lyra's wolf growled in frustration, wanting control, wanting power.
We can handle it. We must.
Kael took her hands in his.
"Lyra... the bond is more than protection. It's love. It's trust. And it's a weapon. But only if you understand it-and embrace it."
Lyra's silver eyes met his crimson ones, her pulse syncing with his.
"I... I want to learn. I want to control it. I want to protect you."
Kael smiled faintly, relief washing over him.
"That's all I've ever wanted to hear."
A sudden movement in the shadows made both of them tense. Milo's eyes widened.
"It's him," he whispered.
"The High Alpha's scouts. They're returning with reinforcements."
Kael's expression hardened.
"Then we prepare. Lyra, it's time you see what the Oath can truly do."
Lyra's wolf surged, intertwining with her own heartbeat and Kael's. Silver light erupted from her skin, spilling over the room. She raised her hands, focusing on the power coursing through her, and the Oath responded.
Images flashed through her mind-Kael's memories, Milo's fears, the High Alpha's intentions. She saw everything: lies, truths, strategies, and weaknesses.
Her wolf whispered:
We are ready.
Kael stepped closer, placing his forehead against hers.
"Together," he said.
"Always."
Lyra nodded, closing her eyes.
Always.
The hall glowed with silver and crimson as the prophecy pulsed in her veins.
The next battle was coming.
And this time... she would not be unprepared.
