Baby Bump vs Bomb: Watching Him Go Mad Chapter 1

Giorgo Romero, the Don of the Romero family, gets ambushed by a suicidal madman who has bombs strapped to him.

When that happens, my husband, Fabio Lopez, and his troops have already gone to a fashion show with his childhood sweetheart, Reina Digiorno, so that they can protect her there.

Instead of pressing the signal button on my ring, I launch myself at Giorgo despite being heavily pregnant. Just like that, I'm able to protect him from the explosion with my body.

In my previous life, I had pressed the button.

Fabio had ditched Reina in favor of hurrying back to the scene to save Giorgo's life. Because of his contribution, he gets elevated to the position of Underboss.

But Reina got mad at Fabio for leaving her in advance, resulting in her crossing the highway out of pure spite. That was how she got hit by a car and died.

While Fabio didn't say anything, he chose to send me to an underground auction house on the day I went into labor.

"The Don had so many soldati protecting him! Why did you force me to come back in the first place? Isn't it because you just want the glory of being the Underboss's wife?

"If it wasn't for you, Reina wouldn't have died! You must go through a thousand times the suffering she did!"

I could only watch as the guests bid for my organs one by one. Not even my newborn's umbilical cord could be spared from the auction.

In the end, I died from an infection that had occurred while my organs were being removed.

When I open my eyes again, I've returned to the day Giorgo gets ambushed.

"A bomb! Protect Don Romero!"

A scream suddenly rang loud in the air.

I looked at the crazed terrorist with explosives strapped all over his body and instinctively took a step back.

Memories of my organs being harvested from my body while I squirmed in excruciating pain in my past life were still fresh in my mind. The pain had not yet faded from my memory when the chaos of the banquet hall crashed over me.

I have been reborn, and I happened to return to a point in my life just as Giorgo Romero, the Don, was about to get attacked.

After snapping back to my senses, I gingerly placed a hand on my very swollen pregnant belly. My baby was still alive. It still wasn't too late.

Amidst the chaos, I took off the emergency alert ring from my finger and threw it into the trash can not too far away from me.

The Don was exposed and vulnerable amidst the crowd that was completely out of control.

The terrorist had already broken past all defences. His finger was already on the detonator and he rushed up to the Don.

Without hesitation, I immediately shoved Don behind the huge marble pillar and used my body as a shield to protect him.

There was an ear-deafening explosion right after that.

A blast of hot air, carrying splinters of marble and rubble, immediately hit the back of my body. The impact knocked me forward, making me fall on my knees, as sharp pain shot through my bones.

I coughed a few times, blood trickling from the corners of my mouth.

Then, under Don's astonished gaze, I shielded him from another huge falling rock.

"C-Careful, Don Remero… The Famiglia still needs you…"

I looked at the surprise in his eyes that gradually turned into gratitude. That was when I knew that I had made the right gamble this time.

My husband, Fabio Lopez, was the Capo of the Romero Famiglia, and he was supposed to always be right by Don's side.

However, during the ambush today, Fabio was nowhere in sight.

It was all because his childhood sweetheart, Reina Digiorno, told him that she wanted to watch a fashion show elsewhere, so he abandoned his duties and even dispatched the rest of the Guardie Del Corpo to escort her to the fashion show venue.

In my past life, I had been worried that Fabio would get punished for his actions, so I quickly called him back by pressing the button on my emergency alert ring.

Although Fabio had initially abandoned his duties, he managed to rush back in time because of the alert, and was thus promoted to Underboss after that.

However, Fabio then accused me of being vain and pinned the blame for Reina's death on me. He sold me to the auction in the black market, where my baby and I were then tortured to death.

Since fate had given me a second chance at life, I told myself that I wasn't going to let the same thing happen to me again.

After the explosion subsided, we were surrounded by the scattered remains of the attacker. Yet, Don was safe because of me.

At that moment, the Soldati finally arrived after receiving news of the attack and raised their weapons, sealing off the entire area.

The crisis was over.

However, I could clearly feel the movements in my womb gradually ceasing. Warm, sticky blood flowed out from the gaping wound on my back, and I couldn't stop myself from shaking.

I was eight months pregnant!

I reached out like I was trying to protect something, but my vision suddenly turned black, and I collapsed straight down.

Don immediately held me up, sounding frantic as he yelled, "Get the Medico! Get him at once! Who was the one who came with her? Bring them here at once!"

I wanted to speak, but blood wouldn't stop flowing from my mouth as I kept coughing. Yet, Don didn't show any sign of disgust as he leaned closer to hear what I was trying to say.

I used up all of my strength and said as clearly as possible, "My name is… Sirena Cabrera, and I am El Capo Lopez's wife…"
