After I Married My Sister's Ex-Husband Chapter 1

In my previous life, my older sister, Alyssa Larson, married a butcher, while I married a hoodlum from the village.

Later, the hoodlum struck it rich, buying several buildings in the city, and he let me spend his money as I pleased.

Alyssa couldn't stand the smell of the butcher and refused to share a bed with him. Instead, she fooled around with playboys in the village.

At our mother's urging, I tried to persuade Alyssa to make things work with the butcher.

Seeing me all dressed up and glamorous, Alyssa flew into a rage, and when I turned away to fetch water, she struck the back of my head with a hammer.

When I opened my eyes, we were back to the day the matchmaker came to arrange the marriage.

Alyssa grabbed the matchmaker's hand, insisting on marrying the hoodlum.

My whole family was shocked, and even the matchmaker gasped for air. Only I struggled to hold back my laughter.

Felipe Garner wasn't a late bloomer or a playboy who turned over a new leaf. All his money came from me.

But did Alyssa have what it took to handle the troublemaker?

"Mom, I don't want to marry Terry. I wanna marry Felipe!

"Although he likes to peep at the girls in the outhouse, is it all his fault?"

Alyssa spoke in a righteous tone.

Her words shocked everyone, and the matchmaker gasped for air.

I remained calm and took a sip of water, knowing that Alyssa had also been reborn.

In the previous life, our mother, Hilda Larson, favored Alyssa, wanting her to marry the most prosperous and capable butcher in the village.

She casually pushed me towards Felipe, took the betrothal money given by Felipe's family, and used it to fill Alyssa's dowry.

And my dowry consisted of a few quilts.

She comforted me, "I was afraid that Alyssa would suffer if she married him, so I had to help her.

"Felipe is a kind guy, and you will have a happy life if you marry him."

She was irritated when she heard that Alyssa wanted to marry Felipe.

"Did you eat too much last night and muddle your brain? Have you forgotten that Felipe even touched your Maggie's butts?"

Alyssa laughed like a fool, taking her to the living room.

In the distance, they whispered to each other.

I didn't know what they said, but Hilda was shocked, then confused, and finally accepted it.

Half-believing, she settled the two marriage arrangements.

At night, the sparrows on the old locust tree had fallen asleep, but Hilda's room was still lit.

I pushed the door open, creaking, and Hilda turned her head.

As she saw it was me, the loving smile on her face disappeared, and she turned back.

I advised her to rest early, but she said, "I'm worried about Alyssa. While I'm still able, I should make her a few quilts.

"Alyssa is different from you. She decided to marry Felipe so that you'd have a good life. You should remember her kindness and help her in the future."

I looked at the quilt embroidered with patterns and asked, "What about mine?"

She paused and spoke in a strange tone. "You're going to marry the richest butcher in the village, so why are you still trying to exploit me? Even landlords aren't as greedy as you."

After hearing this, I turned and left.

I didn't tell her that it would rain tonight and that she needed to collect the cotton outside.

The next day, I was awakened by crying in the courtyard.

Hilda wailed, "Oh, Heavens, why are you so blind?

"My dear daughter is getting married, and this cotton is wet and moldy. What am I going to do?"

I chuckled under the covers.

A miserable marriage paired with moldy quilts seemed fitting for Alyssa.

Annoyed by the noise, Alyssa threw off the blanket, pulled on a coat, and came out to grumble.

"Come on! It's just a few quilts.

"If you really care about me, you should give me a pair of bracelets."

Hilda's crying abruptly stopped, but she was not saddened by Alyssa's words.

Instead, it cleared her clouded mind, and she raised her hand to slap herself.

"Why didn't I think of that? You're so smart.

"Yesterday, Terry gave us 3,000 dollars in betrothal gifts, enough for us to buy a pair of fine bracelets!"

I clenched my fists under the covers.

She took my betrothal money and gave me a few worn-out quilts. Now she wanted to buy bracelets for Alyssa.

After dressing up, Alyssa glanced back at me, who was pretending to be asleep. She leaned against the door frame and sneered, "Sleeping like a log. No wonder you're marrying a butcher with bad smells. You two are a perfect match.

"Unlike you, I'm going to marry the richest man."

"Olivia, you're only fit to shovel pig feed with the butcher, envying me for wearing fancy clothes."

With that, she swayed her hips and went to see Felipe.

My bad mood dissipated with her words.

If I remember correctly, Felipe must be in bed with Melanie Powell right now.

Yet Alyssa still wanted to marry him.

In that case, she would have to live with it.

Worse things were yet to be discovered.
