Lyon's POV****
I sat right there at the wedding, my gaze fixed on Chloe. At first, it felt like a dream to me, I thought to myself that there was no way this was possible.
My mouth was wide open, I couldn't care less about that, the ex that I had thrown away was getting married to my boss, how was that possible or was this karma?
A few months after Chloe had left after signing the divorce documents, Sherry had lost the baby she was carrying. I felt so bitter with the thought that all of this was my fault, to begin with.
Chloe had stood by me through thick and thin, all that I should have done was to be a little patient with her, but Sherry had easily crawled up, and sprouted lies about Chloe and with the fact that she was barren, it was easy for me to be deceived and I was enchanted by her beauty.
While Chloe was five years feet tall, Sherry was more endowed with huge curves, she was the typical definition of sexy, and it was difficult for any man not to want to have a taste of that.
I tried searching for Chloe everywhere and spoke to her best friend Sherry but she claimed not to have any clue regarding her new location, that was devastating for me, so devastating that I felt my world was crumbling.
But just yesterday, I had received Intel that she was back in town, there was this flush of relief inside of me while I thought that this was finally going to be it; winning Chloe back, but my world seemed to have crumbled that moment she walked down the aisle and I knew I wasn't the groom, she was getting married to my boss, to the richest man in the city, how was that happening.
Everyone stared at her, there was admiration in their eyes, she was the typical example of perfection.
Her soft and silky wedding gown flew behind her while she glided down the aisle and as she stood right before Mr. Richard, he was dressed in a handmade designer suit, there was love, lust, and passion in his eyes as he stared at her.
I clenched my fist hard, my heart was pounding heavily, consumed with rage and jealousy, it was so difficult for me to take.
"Ms. Chloe, do you take Mr. Richard here to be your lawful wedded husband whom you will love in sickness and in health until death do you part?"
"Yes, I do!" She responded, her voice soft as silk, this was my woman, a perfect woman for me yet I was stupid to have let her slip away.
"Mr. Richard, do you take Ms. Chloe here to be your lawful wedded wife, to love and to cherish in sickness and in health until death do you part?"
"Yes I do"
"You may now go ahead to ready your vows" the priest insisted, the vows were presented to them, and Chloe had a warm smile on her face, so beautiful that I felt enchanted and could recall the first time that I met her before we got married.
"Richard, I don't have much to say to you, but I just want to remind you that I have been through a lot, you are my backbone and no matter what we face in the future, as long as I have you, I know that everything is going to be alright"
She expressed, a trickle of tears rolling down her cheek, Richard had pulled out a handkerchief to immediately wipe it off.
This was setting me off the edge, I clenched my fist so hard that it was starting to hurt, yet the hurt that I was feeling deep inside of me was more intense.
"Chloe, remember the first time that I met you, I told you that you have been through a lot and I told you that I wanted to wipe all of that away, I am going to take away all of the pains that you felt in the past and make you the happiest woman alive"
He assured her, his eyes pinned to her as he stared at her with so much affection, I froze there wondering how this was happening, how I let Chloe slip away from me.
"By the powers vested on me by the state, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss your bride!"
The officiating priest announced, and everyone widened their gaze in admiration. Chloe tilted forward to him, it was so hard for me to watch.
I shut my eyes and once she had drifted away from him after the long kiss, her gaze briefly locked with mine, I could see the smirk on her lips, she knew exactly what she was doing, and that alone was getting on my nerves.
"Lyon, let's get out of here!" Sherry suddenly tapped on me, for a moment there, I had forgotten that she was next to me, even though it felt disgusting to me at that moment.
"How can you say that, the ceremony is not yet over!" I alerted her, but the frown on her face deepened seeing that I was not interested in her words.
"Who cares if the ceremony is over or not, can't you see that this event is an attempt to mock us, Chloe must have seduced him and you should alert him about what happened."
She insisted but even the sound of her voice was annoying to me, I wasn't paying attention to her, my entire gaze fixed on Chloe and as soon as I noticed Richard walking away from her to attend to his guest that flew all the way here, I scurried towards her.
Standing right before Chloe at that moment, she was an epitome of beauty, I had no idea what to say, but I knew that I had to use my words, those words that she always fell for in the past to get her back.
To be continued!
Chloe's POV****
Striding out of the hall, everyone still had their gaze fixed on me in admiration, Richard had his hand wrapped around my waist, a warm smile on his face as he waved at his guest who could not stop staring at us in admiration.
When I first came to the event hall and stood right at the door, I struggled to fiddle with my finger with my heart throbbing heavily with the thought of what might happen.
Knowing Sherry and how devious her heart could be most times, I could not tell what she and Lyon might decide to do, especially ruining my wedding.
But seeing that everything went on smoothly, my face was burning bright with excitement that I could not wipe off no matter how much I tried.
Just then, there was a business client walking towards Richard, seeing the expression on his face, I knew that it had to be an important client.
"Babe!" He called out to me, his gaze pinned on me in a tender manner that felt like I was going to melt under his gaze.
"I just need to speak to him, he flew all the way from Paris to be here, I promise that this is going to be quick"
"You don't have to worry" I held his hand and squeezed gently with that smile that got him enchanted. "Take all the time you need"
Even while I said the words, I made certain that my expression also went as far as assuring him that I would be fine, saying hello to the guest alone.
With that, he walked out of there, drifting closer to the middle-aged guest as they both talked, it did not take a few minutes while he walked out before Lyon stride towards me, his gaze trailing at me from head to toe.
"Look who we have here" he licked his lips, there was a mischievous smirk on his lips, yet I ignored it.
"Lyon, good to see you"
"I see you have done good for yourself, seducing my boss and wrapping your arms around you"
I knew that his words were meant to strike a nerve, yet I ignored them, a wide grin still plastered on my face.
"I guess I must have seduced him the way Sherry did with you. Good thing I discarded my trash and went for the gold"
I fired back at him, a devious smirk on my lips that caused a frown on my face.
"Chloe, you dare refer to me as trash?"
"That was what it felt like when I was with you, I am glad that Sherry came over and changed everything"
I expressed again, I lowered my eyelid and realized that his fist was clenched which almost forced me to chuckle.
"I know that I treated you badly and I know that you must think that you have met someone better, but trust me, he isn't better, Mr. Richard is dark, brutal and you don't want to know the kind of things he does to his staff"
He lowered his voice, his gaze scanning around as he tried to make sure that no one was listening.
"Is that supposed to be a congratulatory message, because I don't hear the congrats in your speech"
"This is not a speech Chloe" his jaws tightened, he was getting impatient and my words weren't doing any justice to it.
"Listen, Chloe, I know I hurt you, and I am sorry about that. But I have changed, so much about me has changed, I see the world in a different perspective and I am going to make amends"
"Amends?" I rolled my eyes at him, a hint of disgust in my expression with my gaze still lingering around him.
"Yes. Trust me, now that you are back, you are going to see that there is so much that has changed about me"
This time, I could not hold it back any longer, his words forcing me to chuckle.
"And what is so funny?" The frown tightened around his forehead.
"Can't you see it, Lyon? You can't change no matter how much you try, you only go for people that you can benefit from and when it seems like they are no longer of use to you, you toss them out like trash"
"No, that is not true!"
"That is enough! Today is my wedding, a great day for me, and the last thing that I would want is you ruining it for me, I hope that you enjoy your life and marriage with Sherry and bear more beautiful children as you desire." I mocked him sarcastically.
This time my eyes trail around, trying to search for Sherry among the people who had all scattered around, sharing pleasantries with one another.
"Where is your woman?" I asked, but he immediately dismissed my question with the next word that came out of his mouth.
"Let me make it up to you!" Those words had taken me by surprise, it was the least that I had expected to hear from him.
"You have lost your mind!" I cursed and started walking out of him but he grabbed my hand, forcing me to look at him.
"Chloe, please..."
"What is going on here" Lyon was suddenly interrupted by a deep male voice, turning around to see Richard with a tight expression on his face, the frown clearly consumed with rage.
"Is he bothering you?" He directed the question at me and even as he asked, there was this compassion in his eyes making the heart feel the flutter of butterflies.
Lyon immediately pulled away his grip from me seeing the dark glare from Richard, taking a few steps backwards.
"I apologize, Boss, I was just sending my congratulations to your wife"
Lyon struggled to be polite, yet his voice was trembling as he spoke.
My lips deepened into a smirk, Lyon reluctantly walked away from us, Lyon looked like he was just about to back down from the fight.
But what he wasn't aware of was the fact that the fight was just getting started, and he was yet to see what I had installed for him and his dear wife.
