Abandoned at the Altar, Married to His Uncle Chapter 1

The day I married Vincent Sorrentino, Lena, the Sorrentino family’s adopted daughter, threatened to jump off the steeple of the family church.

Vincent left me standing at the altar in my custom wedding gown, no hesitation, just bolted after her.

With every New York crime boss, politician, and oligarch staring at me, I looked out at the crowd and said loud and clear: “Any man who walks up here right now and says ‘I do’? I’ll marry you.”

Three years later, Vincent was back into the Sorrentino family’s Long Island estate, Lena on his arm.

I was sitting on the leather couch in the main living room, watching my favorate TV show.

Vincent’s eyes locked on my huge pregnant belly, his jaw tight, growling through his teeth: “Whose bastard is in there?”

I took a sip of orange juice, curled my lip into a smile, and said: “It's a Sorrentino baby, of course.”

Vincent flew at me in a rage, yanking me clean off the couch.

“Bullshit! I left with Lena the day of the wedding, and I haven’t set foot on Long Island once in three years. How the hell could that baby be mine?”

I almost laughed. I never said it was his. The Sorrentino family had more than one man in it, after all.

“It’s not yours, that’s for damn sure. You don’t deserve to be this baby’s father.”

Lena’s face twisted into fake shock. “Seraphina, even after Vincent ran out on you, he still let you keep the title of Mrs. Sorrentino. You get to live in this estate, live off the family money, and this is how you repay him? Getting knocked up with some bastard?”

I shot her a cold look. “Lena, you’re the Sorrentinos’ adopted daughter, and you’re over here screwing your brother. If we’re talking about shameless? You two win that contest, hands down.”

Lena’s eyes immediately filled with tears, and she turned to Vincent, all hurt and whiny.

“Vincent, she’s been carrying this bastard for months, and the whole underworld’s laughing at you behind your back.”

The words “laughing at you” made Vincent snap.

He roared in my face: “You spread your legs for some random guy, get pregnant, and then dare to turn it around on me and Lena? Get the hell out of this estate!”

Three years prior, Vincent had run off with Lena, let every crime family in New York mock and humiliate me.

And it was Leo Sorrentino, Vincent’s uncle, the underboss of the Sorrentino family, who’d walked up that aisle and finished the ceremony with me.

Everyone in the New York underworld called Leo the Iceman. Ruthless, cold, deadly with his hands and his gun.

Since I married him, every last person in the underworld treated me with nothing but respect.

And when I got pregnant? Leo doted on me like I was glass. Wouldn’t let a single hair on my head get hurt.

I knew if Leo found out what was happening today, he’d go to war with Vincent right here, right now.

For the sake of my baby, I swallowed my anger, kept my voice cold and steady: “Get out of this estate right now, and I’ll pretend this never happened.”

But they didn’t back down. If anything, Lena just stoked the fire more.

“Vincent, she’s scared! She’s trying to kick us out so she can keep using this bastard to steal the Sorrentino family’s money!”

Vincent snarled: “You think I’m gonna let you get away with that?”

I said coldly: “The day you ran off, Don Thaddeus Sorrentino, your grandfather, struck your name off the family book for good. Nothing in this family, is yours anymore.”

Lena let out a mocking laugh. “That was just the Don saying things in anger. Vincent’s the only male heir the Sorrentinos have. The Don would never actually disown him.”

Vincent’s chest puffed out, smug as hell. “Grandpa always said everything the Sorrentinos have would be mine, sooner or later.”

I kept my hand on my stomach, my gaze turning icy. “Not anymore. This baby right here? They’re Sorrentino blood too.”

I thought I’d made it crystal clear. But Vincent just stared at me, face twisted with rage. “You really are gonna pass some random bastard off as a Sorrentino? I’m gonna teach you a lesson you’ll never forget.”

I looked at the wild look on his face and Lena’s, and a sharp spike of fear shot through me. I was terrified they’d hurt my baby. I blurted out, desperate: “It’s not a bastard! It’s...”
